Speakers and mics in auditoriums provide more resonance, which makes the sound fuller and thicker. '50s and '60s studio recordings, on the other hand, didn't have a lot of low end, which makes the voice sound thinner and lighter. Dion has an incredible voice no matter what setting he finds himself in.
Why is this some of the ONLY footage of young Dion and this is FROM BELGIUM?? This is a USA artist and was huge early 1960s, WHY WOULDNT ANYONE IN THE US THINK TO FILM DION?? This makes me so mad. Was he not performing live?? Where’s the USA footage??
it is not from there, from means it was first appearance not where it was last used on... its like saying the invention of fire was from your grill last night.
I am 70 yrs. old and this was my most favorite song in HS because it reminds me of myself for many years. Everyone in HS called me an outlaw, rebel and when "The Wanderer" came out the said that is you. I have roses tattooed on my chest but the girl's name has been covered up because it was a mistake having any name tattooed on your body for as I am concerned.
Ricky Nelson inspired me to wanna play guitar, but it was Dion singing (this one in particular), that made want to sing for my friends on the stoops & in the hallways - I'm still singing & digging his songs with those boss back-up harmonies !
Hello 👋 naty How're you doing. Thanks for this comment, I'm nothing without fans like you who appreciate my musical craftiness It's nice meeting you here.

In my opinion Dion is just the best overall (run around sue, i wonder why) theres a lot more but like if you agree wth me comment i f you dont and tell me who is
Awesome footage! Super-fabulous clarity and audio and, as much I wasn't too crazy about the solo Dion as opposed to his Belmonts years, this was stunningly good.

Geoff Wilde what does the tux and older audience have to do with a sax solo not being in there???, it's a major part of the song for god sakes. An older crowd has nothing to do with it, just a mis-step on the band conductor.
Even in those days, these songs had a message: Note the line: "And I'm as happy as a clown I with my two fists of iron but I'm going nowhere." Yes, he realizes it's a waste, he's happy running around with chicks, but admits "BUT I"M GOING NOWHERE!!'
Dion brought me here.
Cody Williamson Nice profile picture
Where was "here?"
Guys, Dion sounds amazing live. And I know this as a fact because I saw him in concert a few weeks ago. He is STILL amazing.
Aaaannnnddddd I saw him again 4/19/15
Lucky!
I’ve gotten the chance to see him live a total of four times. He is truly amazing
is he still doing concerts? in 2021
@@Gamingdude-ws5dy the last time I saw him was in 2018. He currently doesn’t have any shows planned
Dion DiMucci has been the king of NYC street corners for 60 years
Good music truly never ages. 1963 and still going strong in 2017!
Dion always sounds different on record compared to live
When u sing ur own songs you tend to change the tone of your voice than how u did it on the studio.
Toni Perez Well I think it's also caused by the typical vintage mix and master, there's no low end :D
@JONATHAN CRUZ as freddie in queen.
Studio effects can alter a lot. Still, he has a great voice and such a style.

The original version, with the raunchy sax solo, is much better than this guitar solo.
TheBadappel certainly

His voice is so pure!!!
he sure could use the Del Satins backing him it adds so much to the song!!!
Came because I love Dion, And I am obsessed with fallout games
So awesome to see some classic video from Dion. I always dug his voice. He has a bit of Rasp that tied into the music so well!
That solo was equal to today's shredding back in the day. It actually made love this version.
I actually didn't come here because of fallout 4 but I know it's from it,I just like dion
Me too
me three!
Myles Dirschell yep
it is not from there, from means it was first appearance not where it was last used on... its like saying the invention of fire was from your grill last night.
I knew for this song before fallout, I had a tape that had him on the one side and Elvis on the other
GREAT CLIP! It's like Elvis meets Sinatra with Muddy Waters. But it's uniquely DION.
I’m A Wanderer brought me here. Love this song for years !!!
This is my FAVORITE song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!❤💚💙💜💛💗💞💘💖💕💓😍😘
Holy crap, this was almost 60 years ago. 60 years,children...

I miss the sax part that was replaced by a guitar in this video.
Dion, I love you like you would not believe:-) 💛💙💜💚❤💗💓💕💖💞💘
Lol
Beautiful voice! 🤩
The guy could sing, and had the pipes!
Only the GREATEST...make it look & sound so GOOD...and easy to do!

Dion's the best of that era of rock and roll, they shoulda told him to come out in a Motorcycle Jacket and Stomping Boots for this one though.
I LUV THIS SONG
That was back in the days before his voice changed.
real cool version best I've seen. Thanks
Outstanding!!!
Live! Awesome.
Great!!!!
LOVE DION....... the best !!!!!!!!!!
true soul brother!
This is great footage, and Dion was a great singer, but musically this version of "The Wanderer" is strictly Squaresville.
I love his singing style
Fantástico!!!
I veryat like this song :-D

São Paulo/ Itaquera. 2017
Before its time
bons tempos
nossa quantas lembranças ...
Murderer back then, and still killing it now. An ALL-TIME great.❤
did dion forget to tell the band there's a SAX solo not guitar
Probably
roughtake Yeah. Weird. There is a sax player sitting right there.
But this is Europe I believe in the 60's after all. Today the sax players in Europe would be blowing like Buddy Lucas who played on the original.
roughtake No, whoever arranged the performance/concert probably wanted to apeal to Dions older audience, hence the tux and big band
Geoff Wilde what does the tux and older audience have to do with a sax solo not being in there???, it's a major part of the song for god sakes. An older crowd has nothing to do with it, just a mis-step on the band conductor.
Enregistrement fait en Belgique, si mes souvenirs sont bons

The best ever
If i would been 20 at this time, i would totally date him!
The Wanderers (1979) brought me here
Thatsa-nice.
In those years all he did was sing. Now he always plays his guitar.
Preston Garvey brought me here..
But this is no settlement...
WOW. Dion's great but it sucks they left out the Del Satins. Guts the song.
fell in love with this song cause of fallout 4!!!
But his voice....where's that roar?
great! i wonder how FRANK would do this tune
About the same. He would have probably had the guitar player sorted out.
Good morning, vault-tec calling!
