I used to listen to Dion and the Belmont's back in the 60s. This man was so far ahead of his time. He had a stellar solo career in blues/rock. Fabulous. Go Dion!!
I had a Radio show in Las Vegas in the 90s did about 300 shows.Dion was by far the best interview .I played this version and Dion said"Where did you get that?!"..Fantastic
The shots of the audience are awesome. As a performer, there is no better feeling than seeing your audience jumping up and down like that. Big smiles on their faces, forgetting about their problems and just having a good time.
Been watching & re-watching so much Dion stuff and he just NEVER seems out of place, nothing dating him to any one era---just Dion as he's meant to be!
This is fabulous, Dion is an absolute surviver and this backing....Steve Cropper, Dave Edmunds (a hero...), oh man: wish I could have been there, thanx for posting!!
I was there and it was the best gig I ever went to. Dion was amazing. Dave and Steve were unbelievable. Didn't 'get' Graham Parker. Terry willliams and (ouch - should know the other drummer) were brilliant. amazing gig. Mikey xx
Dion's voice works so well no matter what style he sings this song in, he has such a great voice that it doesn't matter that he doesn't sing it in the same style as the original.
i was at this gig, and it was one of the best two hours of my wholelife. dion was absolutely amazing and dave was his usual note perfect self. Steve cropper was sooo cool and dave charles (and the other drummer - lol) were soo tight. Mikey xx
No matter HOW he sings & plays it, WHO he performs it with. WHAT era he's at, WHERE ,he always knocks it out of the park. HE'S AS MUCH A ROCK AND ROLL KING AS a "Wanderer" & true NYC HERO!! CENT'ANNI. DI!
I saw this tour and it was fantastic. Shook hands with Dion and said to him bring David over he did and I shook hands with Dave I was right up on the stage meaning over the monitor in Toronto Canada. It was an amazing night
absolutely love how his delivery plays around with cadence and notes. Those who abhor the departures from the original record simply do not understand the genius of this guy, one of pop's best ever with the agility that is akin to Torme or Fitzgerald.
@@broncodeviltexas But each deviation from the original recording shows us just a bit more of the genius Dion is. I do imagine singing the same song the same way 50+ years does get boring but true fans of this man love when he steps out and adds something new. I'm just now hitting 72 and have NEVER tired of hearing Dion singing anything---never a moment of boredom!
Saw this show in NYC. Steve Cropper opened the show and then backed all three artists. La Bamba and the Hubcaps horn section also doubled as backup singers for Dion.
dion is just amazing if you just look at the albums hes released since 2000 he could go in the hall of fame all over again its almost ridiculous to say about a legend from the very birth of rock and roll a guy who went in the hall of fame in the very first class with Elvis and the Everlys, chuck berry and little Richard how many people who co headlined tours with buddy holly and the big bopper are still getting better?
+RAFFI ARTO because they maybe were wandering on youtube, searching more songs and live videos of dion, they arrived on this vid and maybe they said: lol, what a bad live from dion, dislike. I dont dislike videos, but thats also my case.
Whatever you do don't tell Dion he's dead. Might ruin his day. Released an album called Tank Full of Blues a few years back. One song "Holly Brown" I particularly like also released a song with Paul Simon called New York is My Home last year and this year was at SXSW.
??? Ich zieh auch meinen Petticoat an
Okay, I prefer the 1961 classic single. But how many times do you suppose Dion performed the song? I don't blame him for mixing it up. Incidentally, I read that Lou Reed was a fan. Cool.
The "other" drummer i Terry Williams. played wirh Dave Edmunds in Rockpile with Bremmner and Lowe. Later with Dire Straits. Very good video, but it seems like Dion forget the words of his own song.
It's sickening how people become attached to specific recording which is only one interpretation of a song and expect an artist to stay true to that and not his own artistry. That's the only thing laughable or sick about this. The comments. Dion is loose and bluesy and Edmunds band is great.
Billy Roues Indeed. One wonders what some of the commentators would make of Bob Dylan! Dion has come a long way since his heydays and spent a lot of time playing the folk circuit, much like Dylan did in his early career. It would be surprising if he performed his old hits faithfully given that. Some people get far too hung up on 'the original' and/or expect the artist to replicate the old hit sounds perfectly. I wouldn't call this performance great but the band swings, Dion is having fun and the audience seem to love it. As live music goes it's ticks all the right boxes. :)
Not saying this applies to Dion, but there are has-beens touring that long ago learned their songs "wrong" and then completely REPEAT the wrongness faithfully. The better groups at least LISTEN to their old recordings and try!
I need help, please. I’m looking for a clip of Dion and Dave Edmunds doing King of Love. I’m assuming it was this gig. Only ever seen it once, desperate to see it again. If anyone can post the link........I m forever in your debt. Thanks
I would like to see Dave Edmunds awarded the recognition which he so richly deserves,at the very least,a niche in the Hall of Fame!
I used to listen to Dion and the Belmont's back in the 60s. This man was so far ahead of his time. He had a stellar solo career in blues/rock. Fabulous. Go Dion!!
Saw this show in San Francisco - it was really rocking!

It can't get any better than this, the marvellous Dion, Dave AND Steve Cropper, WOW!
Tis Moederdag vandaag ...Zondag 7 MEI 2022 Leggen alle vogeltjes een "EI ' Tok Tok Tok 😂🤣👋❤🇳🇱

This is the way Rock-N-Roll should be, total greatness !!!!
30 years ago today. I was there.
No matter HOW he sings & plays it, WHO he performs it with. WHAT era he's at, WHERE ,he always knocks it out of the park. HE'S AS MUCH A ROCK AND ROLL KING AS a "Wanderer" & true NYC HERO!! CENT'ANNI. DI!
OMG I was there .. it was amazing 1990!!

Got a nice groove going here with an all star band. Only Dion could sail thru such a challenge. Seems like he is laying it down to a willing audience
Fantastic stuff.......soooooo much talent on the one stage.............awesome!
Can it get any better than this? Absolutely fantastic!!
I saw this tour and it was fantastic. Shook hands with Dion and said to him bring David over he did and I shook hands with Dave I was right up on the stage meaning over the monitor in Toronto Canada. It was an amazing night
This ROCKS!! Rock and Roll at it's best!

David Nicholls You must be 10 yrs old..
Paul Gronemeier You must be an idiot
David Nicholls Maybe. But you're still a 10 y/o....maybe 6
+Paul Gronemeier Maybe. But you're still an idiot....maybe a moron
I've heard a lot of Dion renditions of this song. This is the best!!!!!!
Happy Birthday Dave. You've been a guitar hero since day one and you always will be.
absolutely love how his delivery plays around with cadence and notes. Those who abhor the departures from the original record simply do not understand the genius of this guy, one of pop's best ever with the agility that is akin to Torme or Fitzgerald.
This is better than the original.
Absolutely hate it when artists do that. To me it seems they get bored so they change it.

Dion Edmunds your a legend what a great song
i am so glad to be born to be in this music gneration!
Dion, Dave, and Graham Parker. One of the best 5 shows I've ever seen.
Saw this show in NYC. Steve Cropper opened the show and then backed all three artists. La Bamba and the Hubcaps horn section also doubled as backup singers for Dion.
what can I say....Dion, The one and only Dave Edmunds and that fabulous Stax sound. It just doesn't get any better than this.
A rock and roll giant! One of a kind!!!!
Can't understand his lyrics half the time but then... It's Rock n Roll; you're not supposed to listen... Feel Man... Feel! Dion... Thanks Man :-D
life really doesn't get any better than this.... sincerely. Mikey xx
Great performance!
FANTASTIC ...
dion is just amazing
if you just look at the albums hes released since 2000
he could go in the hall of fame all over again
its almost ridiculous to say about a legend from the very birth of rock and roll

Great video! Some heavy-duty musicians in the brass section. They get around with other musicians also.
He's rocking the Harold Steptoe dress style haha!
I was at this show in Seattle in the fall of 99. Incredible memories
Great song!
What a great version
FALLOUT 4 BABY and that's why we're here. ; -)
yeah youre right
Hell yeah!
great.the band is terrific
wow 2 of the best together
I can t understand the 14 dislikes if they don t like that kind of real music why they come here to listen ?????????
+RAFFI ARTO because they maybe were wandering on youtube, searching more songs and live videos of dion, they arrived on this vid and maybe they said: lol, what a bad live from dion, dislike. I dont dislike videos, but thats also my case.
+Gery Sithis I was wondering myself. your response seems reasonable. I have seen DION do MUCH better! God rest his soul.
Whatever you do don't tell Dion he's dead. Might ruin his day.
Released an album called Tank Full of Blues a few years back. One song "Holly Brown" I particularly like also released a song with Paul Simon called New York is My Home last year and this year was at SXSW.
hpodell
Good point! I don't know why I thought he passed! Glad I was wrong.
concordo totalmente. quem viveu este só na pele. sabem o quanto gozo dá.
IT SOUNDED GOOD IN 1961 AND EVEN BETTER IN 2019. GOOD STUFF.....ROCHESTER NY
Great horn section on that, the hubcaps I'm sure who played with Springsteen on the Tunnel of Love tour back in 87.
I love him 🥺
My favorite cover of this tune
Fantastic
Good ole Dave Edmunds, what’s not to like 😀👍😀
Dion is The Man!
Two legends.Does anybody relate this to "Singing The Blues" by Guy Mitchell.Dave does a cover of that also.
Love me some Dion!!!
His Christian music was very good. He had, like, 5 CDs.
These guys know how to rock !!
Man, I love that rhythm guitarist (the guy with the striped sweater). Cooooool guy!
You are right. That "Guy" is the one and only Steve Cropper.
That rhythm guitarist ???? Wrote some of the best ever blues songs and played with everyone. The colonel
??? Ich zieh auch meinen Petticoat an
I just Love Him...but I must say I Love his shirt!
Dion...One of a kind.
That is really fine.
I like this better than the original. Good job Dion!
Pretty bad ass stuff!
Sort of a jazz/rock fusion - and as he always does, he adlibs, especially this song. After all, he wrote it, so he CAN take liberties with it!
me encanta !
Okay, I prefer the 1961 classic single. But how many times do you suppose Dion performed the song? I don't blame him for mixing it up. Incidentally, I read that Lou Reed was a fan. Cool.
I think Lou inducted him into the Hall of Fame.
@@100dikembe he did
Dave Edmunds played guitar with Carl Perkins, I do think he learned very much with Carl, 🎉❤
what a talent
🇧🇷👍✌🎸🇧🇷
São Paulo/ Itaquera. 2017
The "other" drummer i Terry Williams. played wirh Dave Edmunds in Rockpile with Bremmner and Lowe. Later with Dire Straits. Very good video, but it seems like Dion forget the words of his own song.
Fanttastic brass
Dave Edmunds saves the day , shocking
Brilliant
Real rock n roll
.... HE LOVES THE BLUES ...
I caught this show in Boston. Was it really that long ago ? Dion, Steve Cropper and Dave Edmunds what a Tri-fecta .
Isn't that Terry Williams on drums Jos? Everything bout this version is hot hot hot, Dave Edmunds graciously for once taking a back seat👍
I'm pretty sure it is.
Yes, that is Terry. Steve Cropper on guitar. Anyone know the names of the horn players?
It's not good in this concert, but he's dion!
I like the older one
I have much respect for Dion he got a grip on life and turned it all around main reason.the LORD
It took a Welshman to Rock ‘n’ Roll for the U.K. And oh how he could do it !!!
It's sickening how people become attached to specific recording which is only one interpretation of a song and expect an artist to stay true to that and not his own artistry. That's the only thing laughable or sick about this. The comments. Dion is loose and bluesy and Edmunds band is great.

The lone wanderer leads me here..
Sounds like he's singing it Dave Edmunds style!
@ Kam, I was thinking the same thing , saw this tour and wish they'd do it again, great, great concert!!

I need help, please. I’m looking for a clip of Dion and Dave Edmunds doing King of Love. I’m assuming it was this gig. Only ever seen it once, desperate to see it again. If anyone can post the link........I m forever in your debt. Thanks

This is the version from the same concert. No Dion though.
Badazzz
I wanna see him without his hat 😄
Anyone know the names of the horn players?
