Dave is a superb rocker, he knows Rock n Roll sound and how to recreate it! He produced Shaky & The Sunsets first album - A Legend - totally authentic 👍🏻
was a nice little sub-chapter between Punk and New Wave - I arrived in London April 1981 and these guys were huge along with Polecats and Major Matchbox, older dude Shakin Stevens was No1 with Greendoor. Me? I went to see The Specials!
Dave’s first group was the Raiders and we used to go and watch them in the Kennard Rooms , in Roath in Cardiff, in 1966/67, then he morphed into Love Sculpture and had the fantastic “ Sabre Dance”, I think that was 1968, he then went solo and the rest is history. A good quiz question “ name the two stars from Splott in Cardiff to have UK No 1 hits” and the answer is Shirley Bassey and Dave Edmunds
Vic Arnold Dave's single of this was released in 1981 on Led Zeppelin's SwanSong Records label. This also marks the first American release for The Stray Cats as well.
Dave made them sound just right and launched them properly. I always think it's interesting how Brian Setzer has that cute lisp when he speaks but it barely comes across when he's singing.
Yip the lads weren't wrong there he produced the stray cats well. That's why they came to the UK as they didn't make it in the states as it had already been done in the 50s and that's when the British rockabilly scene erupted and came out of the under ground but unfortunately short lived but never died off as its still running today another 40 years on what music has survived that long yeh keep pushing out the one hit wonders judges £££$$$$. Lol
Wow, I never realized that the Stray Cats who played with Edmunds were the same Brian Setzer & the Stray Cats. I mean I guess I should have realized that but I never made the connection. :/
Andrew Gent Nope, edmunds aint shit when you've got vastly superior producers in L.A. in that time period. Brian was smart to go after the uk market though so hats off to him for taking the brits money.
Thank's Dave for appreciating The Cats, and producing them.

These guys are great, I was a bobbin to them live in early 80s Cardiff top rank.
Dave is a true musical craftsman who you just know is always going to ‘do it right’.
Dave Edmunds is a classic rocker
This was a perfect collaboration
Dave Edmunds is an underrated rocker. 'Repeat When Necessary' is a killer record and his best I think
How freaking awesome is it for this gem to pop up!
Still Straying Around 2024 👏👏👏

Love Dave Edmund’s material, brilliant guitarist and he’s from wales , splott in Cardiff .
Back around 1981 I saw this video it was the first time on TV. The First real Music Video in between HBO shows.
Edmunds did The Polecats too. Boz Boorer, Morrissey's writing partner, was the guitarist and backing vocalist. Hit: "Make a circuit with me"
Best cover of this song ever...
In the movie Stardust the band , played by Dave Edmonds and Kieth Moon and others , was called The Stray Cats
I saw The Stray Cats in Boulder Colorado. They just rocked the house
A thoroughly enjoyable show!

Fantastic!!!

I don't know what year this was but our band always opened with this George Jones song in the 60's.Dave was really good at this stuff.

Totally, I never noticed that lisp before! Bet the GIRLS love it! lol
I never saw it in a song until I saw the video for Look At That Cadillac, near the end! Haha
Simran Persic ;-)
+monsterjazzlicks I'm all for Brian and I certainly love it😍
Dave (along with Nick Lowe) will always be my top musician though💕
SarahDBaker This helped me kind of appreciate a bit more how important finding the right PRODUCER is.
FAB !!
so underrated
Andy Williams recorded this back in the day.
They all look like they're having fun with this video. I like this better than the original from George.
Dave can do that Southern Twang as good as George Jones
Bloody Fantasic! Sofa king kool!

Check out his first 3-4 records!
Listen to him play Mozart 's forte!

Sabre Dance by Love Sculpture
I know this comment was six years ago, but where had you been until then?
This song was recorded by Led Zeppelins Record label, Swan Song Records.
That was Dave's record company for many years.
Great song from 1981 Shame it wasnt a big hit
It was for George Jones in 1964.
Yeah great song .love it
so sad they used the studio version/recorded track. :(
The first guy’s accent is interesting, it’s dead now but it sounds pleasant
Dave kinda looks like George Jones with longer hair in some of those shots...... Possum! hehe
SlipKnotRicky No!!!!
HaHa
Dave is gorgeous ❤❤
If Dave Edmunds can't make you sound good you may as well go home!
cc. George Jones.
Brain is not bad either
he was on sctv... i wasa teenage comunist for the fbi...
man kann sich auch verschlechtern
dave edmonds is..........OVERRATED. They could have had billy idol record it and it would have sounded even better.
Andrew Gent Nope, edmunds aint shit when you've got vastly superior producers in L.A. in that time period. Brian was smart to go after the uk market though so hats off to him for taking the brits money.
@@genxr9553 charming.dave put these boys on the map.end of.
Such bull.billy idol is not the man for this.dave has the right voice for this.no one could do it better than him.
@Langelier Fabrice agree
Edmunds in a different class from Idol on every level,be serious.
