That was brilliant, he sounds good . Not seen this for a long time and I’ve loved seeing it again. Was a big fan in the 70’s and 80’s,underrated man I think.
My first 45 single record I bought when I was 9 years old,Rock n Roll will never die,I'm still playing that type of music with my band at the age of 62.
I have just returned from Stonor Park Oxfordshire, having seen Dave and Jools in concert!! Frid 7th Aug 2009, Fantastic music nice weather a few drinks (more than) Add up to a great time.... Keep rockin..
Memories of being at a flat at dawn to see someone who I knew in 1980. This song was first done in 1970 but I must have heard it somewhere that morning. Cold grey mornings and good times.
The best of pub music and that is a big compliment. It is the kind of music that will have everyone from grannies to grandchildren singing and dancing along. It's a crowd pleaser and isn't that what real music is?
Didn't think I would ever use these lyrics, but it turns out I've used them more than once. Thanks Dave. Yes I do know it was a cover, but this is the version I relate too.
wow I'm from Canada ,and I have never heard of you ,you kick ass man ,I have heard Fats Domino do this song But I never heard of Dave Edmonds -Love You man ,Your my new Found Musician hahaha Rock On man ,Gonna go to the shops and try to find your Music .cheers
@Darnell1SimmonsLouk All due respect, Dave Edmunds nailed this for once and for all in the 70's, dig up his version, it really is definitive for vocals and groove and that quintessential ingredient of good rock and roll... menace...
I seen Dave back in 1993 in Ventura, California. He was a cameo appearence with a short lived band called "The Flew". For those that don't know, it was a band put together by Joe Walsh. Nikki Hopkins WAS supposed to be on Keys but had health issues. They played this song and the "ROCKED!"
Seen him 2 weeks ago at my local theatre he was a special guest with the Jools Holland Rhythm & Blues orchestra, and he fuckin rocked the place!!! what a legend!!
John Lennon mentions how much he loves this song 5 hrs before he gets shot if you listen to the tape. The last song he mentioned he loved on tape before getting shot.
I'm convinced that Dave recorded an album of Elvis covers or at least an album that contained some Elvis covers, including Baby let's play house and possibly Mystery train but I have never been able to find any trace of it... Nice Fender Tele by the way, I have the same one.... inspired choice. Saw Dave live years ago, the guy really kicked ass. First time time I saw him he played for nearly two hours, went off, came back and said "Fuck it, let's play rock and roll" and did another hour....
On Twangin.... Dave included his version of Arthur Gunter's song Baby Let's Play House. Let's not give Elvis credit for the work of Black artists. ruclips.net/video/zF-HkpAB_z4/видео.html
I also thought he was like a prior Fogerty except CCR had a string of hits that JF wrote. One of my early Canadian bands had a deal with RCA London & did a few days of recording sessions in Wales in the early seventies on a farm-studio where Dave Edmunds did the original British hit record...fun place to work.
Smiley Lewis doesn't own the copyright to this tune, the writers do: Dave Bartholomew and Pearl King. Dave Edmunds pays them royalties every time he sings the song in public or sells an album. Ditto for everyone else who covers it.
SO I am Late. Mr J. Holland YOU have the POWER to have a TV CHANNEL which YOU could produce to EXCLUSIVELY show OUR great performers. Including yourself of course. Knighthood for you if I had my way.

@namejimmy , Thanks for your reply, went down to London this week to see Million Dollar Quartet, the female [Elvis's girlfriend] did a great version of this in the musical, I can really recommend this show, I would say it is the best I have seen music and performance wise, see it if you can.
Did we really have shows like this on New years Eve TV? I seem to remember that this show was diverse enough without being completely OTT woke like today.
Man I bet it friggin was! ICheck out Dave doing "Girls Talk" that Elvis Costello wrote.... I just love him & Nick Lowe (not in a dirty way!). Wales hey? Was it fun to touch the green green grass of home?!?!?!
I love this song, but don't know who originally sang this....... I've never heard of Dave Edmunds before........... Can anyone tell me who sang this song originally?? thanks in advance!!!!
Loved it when it was brand new, and now, years later, still do. Thanks Dave. September, 2023.
Ìam watching this in August 2024 i thnk dave is a legend One of the best guitarist ❤❤❤❤
Great Rock n Roll! Just what I needed!
Another Welsh Legend great musician.
That was brilliant, he sounds good . Not seen this for a long time and I’ve loved seeing it again. Was a big fan in the 70’s and 80’s,underrated man I think.
Such a great rock 'n' Roll tune. I remember finding it absolutely hilarious when I was a little kid. Now, it's just one of my all-time favorite songs.
My first 45 single record I bought when I was 9 years old,Rock n Roll will never die,I'm still playing that type of music with my band at the age of 62.
They just don't come any better than this! Keep on Rockin Dave!
This was my go to song when my wife left me. And believe you me, she was not allowed to come back in

Wouldn’t you want to sound like that years after your original hit. Go for it Dave
Memories of being at a flat at dawn to see someone who I knew in 1980.
This song was first done in 1970 but I must have heard it somewhere that morning.
Cold grey mornings and good times.
Was first released in 1955. I remember Gale Storm singing it in 1959.
The best of pub music and that is a big compliment. It is the kind of music that will have everyone from grannies to grandchildren singing and dancing along. It's a crowd pleaser and isn't that what real music is?
Dave Edmunds is a hero of mine. And always will be. He does not know this....but I love him like a brother.
Man, that Tele sounds great. Killer live version of this song!
Didn't think I would ever use these lyrics, but it turns out I've used them more than once. Thanks Dave. Yes I do know it was a cover, but this is the version I relate too.
This song was #1 in UK when I was born
Listening in 2020, great song, but helluva year for the world and USA. Jam on!!!

Best Version of the song
He'll rock until he drops. I love Dave Edmands.
Interesting viewpoint. As long as he's still rocking, that's the important thing. Thanks..Keith

The music has stopped, sadly.

The most underated rock artist ever.Puts queen and other bands to shame, there not good enough to even clean his shoes.
God music really takes me back. My mum died in 1973 and she used to play this. Reminds me so much of her, hard to listen to, but happy memories.
So good, Jools Holland is the man and this version is right up there.
That's all there is,
And there ain't no more.
Treasure this guy while he;s still playing, they broke the mold.

Always thought dave was a master!❤
I agree with the man ho said don't let her in ❤❤
Saw this last night! Was awesome! :-)

great song. it has been awhile since I heard it. it brings back memories.
Papa hatte seinen Spaß daran gehabt.
Aber man ist der alt geworden, so alt wie dieses Lied und ich.

Dave's new video for the single Again . . . Dave Edmunds Official Video 'Again'
@SpydersCorner good memories i hope. Thanks...Keith
Thanks to Smiley Lewis, Smiley also provided Elvis with One Night, but who now knows this?
right on my friend!!
Jules' perfectly timed augmented chord at the end of the guitar solo is so good.
Wish I could have had the chance to meet him - Wales was pretty much straight countryside - unlike London itself - if you catch my drift...
An incredible variety of important rockers have been Welsh.

a young wine only gets better with age and then gets to be vintage tell me wrong

Yes mickey was a great guitarist used to see him a lot playing in pubs in cardiff with mickey gee and the gee strings
I have loved Dave Edmunds' music for years. I*n this video he loo0ks like Bilbo Baggins from Lord of the Rings. Rock Star Hobbit!!! Go Dave!
Funny because Peter Jackson used this song in The Lovely Bones. Maybe he's a fan.
Don't worry there are some of us still left.

Darnell1SimmonsLouk never heard of Dave Edmunds ,this got to number one in the u.k and he had quite a few others as well .
I lke this song, but I CAN'T THINK OF A GOOD REASON WHY?
Because it's blues, the fetus of Rock'n'Roll.
I get you! I lived in London for a few years when Dianna dies & Blair got in & the place was pretty charged, as was I most of the time!
Steven King movie
@squizzoo No need to worry. I'm here. I make music like this, the real kind.
Dead right!
