I was so fortunate to have caught a Dave Edmunds live show in the late eighties. He tore the house down! I've seen just about everyrone in concert, and Dave Edmunds stands as one of my favorites. The guy respects the craft, and I hope he continues to perform until he'a 100.
@@mithrilmoon1 Unfortunately, with the arrival of Thatcher, presaging Reagan's Presidency, and their joint neoliberal Consumoron "society" you have to say '79 was a mixed blessing. They set the tone for the shitty socio-political environment we're in now (eg. "Greed is Good"; NuLabour: My greatest achievement: Thatcher)...which is a *great* shame, as I agree, the music was great, New Wave. Music full of quirky personality and character, viewed and heard on unifying media...
I was 15 years old when the song was released it was a classic video which I first watched 6 years ago on RUclips it was a classic song I wish we could go back to the days of the 1970.s
I've always been a fan of his musicianship and standards. Dave's responsible for some great music since the late 60's or early 70's. He's also been responsible for the Carl Perkins and Friends concert. Thanks Dave!
@Dave Edmunds Dave, thank you for taking the time to leave this comment. I feel like I've been hit by a Rockpile...in the best way. Be well and thanks again.
Wow this was 12 years ago but he was still sounding great. I saw him in the mid 80s in a bar/small club - One of the best shows I have ever seen. Just an amazing talent.
I was at an unnanounced Dave Edmunds concert at my college in August 1982. He was huge, of course, with the college crowd in those days, but by the time word got out, half the concert was over! More importantly, I sat at the foot of the two-foot high stage on the grass of the quad. Happy times!
I´m 70, and I have seen quite some concerts in my life. But I never managed to see a Dave Edmunds concert. Now he´s retired. Now I know why leaves turn brown in autumn!
@Steve Sturges Yes Gilson Lavis who played I think on the first nine Squeeze albums but you might want to check that. I seem to remember Elvis’s drummer from The Attractions, another great drummer, Pete Thomas playing on Some Fantastic Place. Gilson now tours with Jools but also an impressive artist I seem to remember from an old Modern Drummer article and he has had exhibitions so multi-talented.
Just imagine if Gilson Lavis and jools Holland had played with Dave in the 70's??? Gilson is the steadiest rock in the world - hittin' never missin'... And Dave still Rocks!! Hey Geoff- check out your bro - he's still boogieing with the best of 'em man!! Mikey xxx
Dave Edmunds should be in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
with Billy Bremner and Mickey Gee
He's Not?!?!
@@jeffreyrausa2098 Nope. So many lame-ass acts in it. I don't vote for it anymore.
No doubt about it
The R&R HOF is now a joke.
Brilliant, so crisp, all these years later. He even sings every backup vocal lyrics. Passionate and talented. RRHF he deserves.
Has not lost an ounce of talent and ability in 30 years. Impressive performance.
One of those tracks that still sounds superb 40 years on. Loved it then and now. Never tire of hearing it . A great era to be Alive
They don't make 'em like Dave Edmund's anymore..a true musician and a star :-)
very true an amazing song they don't make songs like this anymore
@@davinadavis4930 seriously, he's not? Say more about the HOF than it does about Dave Edmunds, that's for sure.
Dave Edmunds is so freakin talented!!! He just loves to perform and it shows in every performance! ☮️🖖🏽
I was shocked how good he sounds 30 years on from the record.
Make that 40
He’s a tone down
A instead of B
He knows to suit his changing voice, and he sounds fantastic
Plus another few years . It's timeless.
Very clearly dropped the pitch: the capo is a dead give-away of that.
Brilliant…..
dave may be getting older but the voice is as strong as ever ! the best song costello ever wrote
Fantastic. His voice is great live - no blips at all. I love this song and adore this version. Brilliant artist.
His live voice is amazing
I remember this track, just rediscovered and I love it more now than then, pure fun and excitement ♥️
You can't stop great music. It NEVER gets old
I love all versions of this song, but Dave's voice just fits it like a glove.
Dave is so underrated
Madonna58 Terminiello or overrated...
Yes also very much as a guitarist
not by his peers he isn't
wow that bring back some fantastic memoires for me .a great song.
OMG he still sounds and plays and looks as good as he did when he first started out.
DAVE!!! You always kill it every time. You sir are a legend.

I agree! The 21st Century is full of strife and struggle and mega rich ejits destroying peoples' lives. '79 was amazing x

Elvis wrote it and recorded it on his album 'get happy' but of course Dave made a great hit of it.
Always loved this song growing up in the 70’s was a time of stress free living…..
MR DAVE EDMUNDS IS THE TOP! LOVE HIM AND HIS MUSIC BIG BIG FAN ME!
Dave Edmunds= Rock & Roll machine!
I've always been a fan of his musicianship and standards. Dave's responsible for some great music since the late 60's or early 70's. He's also been responsible for the Carl Perkins and Friends concert. Thanks Dave!
He also produced fellow Canadien k.d. Lang's first release.
I love seeing Gilson Lavis drumming on this song!
I didn't realize what a great drummer until I saw this.
First thing that caught my ear. What a drummer!
I know what a joy it is having a good drummer in the band!
This was his era. Late 70’s & 80’s with Squeeze .... he was just the best!
@@davidsutherland7737 Yes! Saw Squeeze in concert three times and he sounded great every time. The whole band did.
still great 29 years after the original !!
What a great performance. Discovering these nuggets is the cool thing about Sirius and RUclips.
Great Lyricist, good singer, and awesome band!

Brilliant! Dave's the best.
How generous of Elvis to hand this gem over. Gilson, ex Squeeze, rocking it on the drums
Wondered who that was, excellent drummer
