I’m about to install a Maxton front lip on my ‘21 Tiguan RLine, so I haven’t even done it yet. But I can already give you a tip hahah… REPLACE THOSE SCREWS WITH BOLTS/WASHERS/LOCK NUTS!!! Using a screw on both ends to temporarily hold it where you want it is definitely perfectly fine (and a good idea), as it’s better than tape and you’ll drill those holes anyway. But after it’s on like you have it at first, go through a drill the holes and use bolts. Many benefits like they’re stronger, won’t come loose over time and perhaps most importantly - once they do eventually rattle loose you won’t puncture a tire as easily (although yes you can argue that at 65mph + it won’t much matter… but still.) I recommend replacing all those screws with bolts and rubber washers and locking nuts man. The holes are already pre-drilled by the screws anyway… Take the extra time to do it right dude, your car deserves it.
Just a word of warning.... but you really do need to remove the front bumper and use bolts. I installed mine with self tappers and it came off at speed.... not good!! I used 12 well anchored screws but they simply ripped out under load. The Maxton installation guide clearly states this. Take it easy guys 👍🏻
Yeah I definitely need the spoiler and side skirts but I’m not sure what diffuser as it’s a 118i with only 1 exhaust tip so it’s difficult to find one that looks good
@@JoshBatesYT you can go to an exhaust place and get a custom twin exit done if you wanted, I was quoted 300 for it by DKU Performance but never bothered
Hi mate I have got a 118i 2015, been looking at getting some gloss black mirrors but wasn’t sure where to order from, where have you ordered yours from ?
Nice build bro, i got a 218i (1.5 3cyl b38) and i’ve done my fair share of mods, lmk if u wanna race / do a few pulls or even a video together. Im stage 2 btw 👀
@@JoshBatesYT The N13 engine you have is way more capable than a B38. Search up Bimmer Belgium, he used to have the N13 114i (pre facelift) and went all out on it. You might find his content pretty useful.
@@JoshBatesYT Yeah bro. I did a lot of research as I wanted the 118i you have and with some simple mods you can easily hit 200hp. The same engine you have is also in the 120i but has a better tune which makes more hp. But your best bet might be just saving the money and buying an Mx35/40i as you’ll enjoy them way more and in my experience the M235i is really cheap on insurance.
100% correct. Bolts are needed. The front splitter comes under massive load at speed. I found out the hard way and when it came off it smashed and bounced up somehow hitting my rear diffuser and smashing that too on my M140i. I had it on 6 months before this happened and speed was definitely a factor.
A video showing how NOT to fit a splitter . No bolts used at all is criminal & using self tappers all over the place is absolutely laughable. Maxton design stuff is utter garbage so I don’t understand why anyone in their right mind would install the rubbish plus it makes every car way cheaper looking after fitting
@@alexgavril6483 i would use genuine oem after market parts . Proper fit & finish . That maxton stuff is utter garbage & makes each & every car look much cheaper
I’ve got a 116i and I’m not confident in doing mods but I’ve started doing them from this year. You are doing good work, keep it up
I’m exactly the same as you. I literally don’t have a clue really but I just watch a few yt videos and have a go at it

Would you need to have it raised for that or is it able to be done at home ?

Hi,was yours a maxton?if so what bolts did you use?
Mine was also Maxton with self tappers, it also fell off at speed…😂 bolts for sure!
Don't do self tappers, mine ripped off at speed and I run over it sending it up in the air in pieces.
@@TheExStig Exactky the same for me. Shattered into a million pieces after it went under the wheels. Scary.
Why not using rivets?
Tnx Josh. I was on the fence with Maxton splitters but after watching your video I’m going to purchase one for my 2021 X5 M-Sport….
It changes the look of the car. I am still so happy with it to this day
Transforms the front end👏🏼
Nice! You make driving a stick shift look easy.
Hi, the screws of splitter use the original holes of bumper? or you need to apply them making new holes..?
thanks
Great improvement Josh! It looks wicked. 👍🏻
The little mods makes the car look aggressive. Great video Josh. 👍🔥
100% thank you 👍
Love it Josh, side skirts and a spoiler would look great!
100% I definitely want to get those ASAP
Looks great did it come already painted
You usually can have the maxton kits in mat, carbon effect and gloss.
With a red pinstripe option
Yeah it came in the gloss black
Just received mine for the bmw 123d e82 can't wait to get it on good video!
Good job mate 👍

Yeah I had the option to do that when I got it done but I wanted to keep it looking like a 118i at the back just for when I sell it
@@JoshBatesYT Very true. Look nasty tho ruclips.net/video/CDj19R8seq0/видео.html&ab_channel=DKUPerformance
@@andrewdaniel4163 that does look good
Did you drill the holes first or did you just drill the screw straight in?
I held the splitter up in the correct place and just drilled straight in
Hey man
Does only a front splitter without sideskirt still look good?
Where did u get them screws? Got the same car might do the same
Nice man. Did they provide their own screws or you had to buy them yourself?
They provide screw but they are extremely difficult to fit with them so I bought my own self tap in screws
Did the splitter hold with self tappers ?
It did yes 👍
Do you need a m pack bumper to instal the lip?
I think so yeah
Did the screws come with the splitter? Or u have to buy them separately?
It came with bolts and I bought the screws seperate
@@JoshBatesYT if u want to use the bolts that came with the splitter, u would have to remove the front bumper right ?
@@JoshBatesYT how is ur front splitter doing ? Did it fall off ?
How is the splitter holding up mate? Any issues? Or did you do anything else to strengthen it?
Held up fine for me 👍
You have the M pack 1 series ?
Yes 👍
Do the series splitters only come with the face lift models?
I was thinking of this splitter but hate logos
Can this be removed? Does it just sit smooth on it or what?
I have seen videos where people remove them and it looks fine. I was going to but I don’t mind it
Hi mate I have got a 118i 2015, been looking at getting some gloss black mirrors but wasn’t sure where to order from, where have you ordered yours from ?
I ordered mine off of AliExpress or eBay. There cheap but can take a while to come

Yeah cheers and Stage 2 that must be so quick. Mines stock I doubt it would stand a chance against yours.

DO NOT REMAP THIS CAR. see what happened to BRETT BARNES car when he remapped it
Yeah I saw that it’s risky
His car was a b38. The N13 engine is a tank compared to that 3 cylinder when it comes to tuning.
What happened ?
It blew up bro ruclips.net/video/Hua_c6coHHU/видео.html
Should have used the bolts not screws
That lip is gone in 5th gear lmaoo. Self tamp screws noo buenoo
It’s still surviving alright so far
