  • How I change my old enduro KLX 650 R to an asphalt eating mean green wheelie machine. Its was a time before smartphones with fancy camera's, so its all done with a crappy digicam from back then.
    The stock 650R is already powerfull and very torqy with that big 650 cc thumper in it, but with the custom build Mikuni carb, the custom build big bore exhaust, open Laser silencer and that big 50 tooth rear sprocket, it was really, really fast, and it would wheelie at an instant.
    So it was definately not a beginners bike.
    But I wanted to build someting different, and this is what the end result was. Ive added alot of bling to the bike also, and it would always gather a crowd at events.

    You got the stance spot on mate. And the GSX wheels look awesome too. On my own KLX650C supermoto project I will be aiming for that same aggressive look. I'm not as quick as I was in the good ole 70's and 80's, so at least it will look fast standing still. 😄

    Beautiful. Doing a similar job with the same bike (KLX650c), but keeping it for off road. Noticed you had an engine protection bar in the early dismantling photos that you didnt refit. Do you still have it/want to sell it? will upload a similar youtube video when i have some trail footage to add at the end.

    Very beautiful and impressive power. Do you know which is the best carburator for this bike? Mine is standard and I’m very happy, but I would like to prepare it for overlanding

      … and my concern is the fuel consumption and short mileage range.

    Love it! One thing though, what engine work was carried out to get 65HP? that's more than my old KTM660 SMC in track trim.

      I can't remember every detail, because it was a while ago :) but I installed a bigbore header, a custom jetted Mikuni by ABP Racing and had some headwork, which gained about 16-19hp to the engine and really, really made a big change compared to the stock 48HP KLXR. And a stock KLXR was already pretty badass...

    Great build and very cool looking KLX. I have a '96 I'm going to redo ...can you please tell me what swingarm you ended up using? Thanks!

    • @that70sguy
      @that70sguy  Год назад +2

      I used an KLX C type swingarm. Dropped right in without any issues. The C type is abit heavier, wider and longer then the aluminium R swingarm, but it provided me just the right amount of space to fit that fat rear tire in.

    Dikke fiets, zo zie je ze niet meer helaas… of er wordt een gruwelijke hoeveelheid geld tegenaan gesmeten, of ze komen zó uit de showroom. Zou haast zoiets willen bouwen voor d’r bij…
