I appreciate you giving the much needed attention to these lenses. In the right hands I think it’s the closest you can get to FF with a 1.4 GM lens at a fraction of the cost. I’m trying to pick either up used. I think the Viltrox 27mm 1.2 would make an interesting comparison to see if the aperture makes a visible difference. Viltrox’s image quality and AF are selling points at a similar price though, but again at an 1.8 FF equivalent.
I have the 33mm, it has given me some of my best shots, absolute beast! I recently sold off a lot of Fuji gear, classics like the 90f2, 56f1.2 the 23f1.4 (old) and 18mmf1.4, but I'll never sell my Laowa 33mm. THAT is how good this lens is.
@spc3mky well, they are very different lenses, so it’s not really a good comparison. The new 18 is indeed amazing. Me selling that had more to do with the fact that I still preferred the old 16f1.4, even if the new 18 is optically superior. But yea, I do consider the Laowa to be one of those lenses that provide such a unique look that it is absolutely irreplaceable in my Fuji lineup.
I've had the 33/0.95 for a while now and I absolutely love it. You're right, it's crazy sharp, and the big red flare at f/0.95 was actually a selling point for me. It feels very high-end with the all-metal construction, smooth focus ring and clicky aperture ring, not to mention the nice square hood. Taking street photography wide open takes some serious skill though, because nailing focus on people who are moving is tricky with that paperthin DoF. Thankfully it has that long-throw focus ring, and combined with Fuji's bright yellow focus peaking it's totally doable. I don't like to take it out in winter because it's not WR (that's when my 35/2 earns its keep) but as soon as it gets nice out I will be rocking the Laowa on my new X-T5. Did you say that it resolves 40 megapixels? That would be so awesome.
These are small compared to the full frame Sigma FE 35mm f1.2! But I prefer to use full frame body for this type of lenses anyway. Fuji X is my compact edc system
great review. the 25mm looks tempting for an everything / everyday lens even though its big and heavy. How is the microcontrast on the 25mm? does it have a nice 3d pop or do the images look flat?
I like my 7Artisans 35mm f/0.95 that I got before Laowa introduced the 33mm and I know it is more sharper specially in the edges but I don't like the declick, so I "modified" mine after the first month of using it and right now I am using "a break", but the 33 it looks better, I am still thinking about to get one versus the Fujinon 33, and that 25 it is awesome, what I see in your test it is really interesting, I am not a 23mm user, well in the analogue era I used sometimes the Nikkor 35mm f:2 Ai in my FE2 or FM2 but the DOF produced it is much more interesting than the 23mm f:1.4. Next comparison could be the Laowa 25mm f:0.95 versus Viltrox 27mm f:1.2, I would like to see that. Nice test by the way.
Dudeee I had been looking at this 33mm a few months ago… and now you’ve sold me haha! I traded my old xf 23mm f2 for the newest XF 23 1.4 which is SHARP when wide open, but now I feel bad that I didn’t get Laowa’s 25 instead haha
How would you compare the 33mm to the Mitakon 35mm? I have the Mitakon and was surprised by the sharpness. At .95 it’s a bit softer than the 35mm 1.4 and at 1.2-1.4 it’s as sharp as the XF. What is weird is even at 1.6 the bokeh was still smoother than the XF at 1.4.
The mitakon and the Laowa 33mm are the sharpest lens out of the f0,95 lenses i've tried... I think the mitakon is a hair sharper...But i like the image quality on the Laowa 33mm over the Mitakon 35. The mitakon produces some nasty lens flare that i can't forgive lol.
Which one would you get? the Argus 25mm or the 33mm F0.95?
If you can put your hands on this new lens NOKTON 35mm F0.9 Aspherical X-mount, it would be amazing
Do you still own 1 or both? And if yes which one
@@slglasius yes i still have my 25mm F0.95

Hey man I don’t disagree. From what I’m seeing recently it’s a lens that’s been slept on..

Yes sir. It resolves it the 40 mp sensor very well!

Yes the 25mm has a nice 3D pop. It reminds of sorta like a medium format type of look.
You read my mind with this video, just what I was looking for
Aye let’s go! 🫶
I would choose the 33 over the 25 for the slight compression.
Can’t go wrong with either

Thanks for watching

Haha the xf23mm is not bad dude! I would love to get one so you’re good
I'm torn between the xf 23mm and the argus 25mm too. Can't decide if nice f0.95 or autofocus is more important for me, lol
I wish these lenses had electronic contacts to endable the automatic MF assistance and also the IBIS
That would be a bonus.
Bro, I don't need any more lenses - stop it. AMAZING shots though!!
There’s never enough! You always need more!
I bought them both. 😊
And the 33 is much cheaper.

@@Iamtongue ya the lens flare is pretty horendous 😂. I rarely shoot in circumstances where that would happen though which is good.
Bro need help. My xs 10 , Q button doesn't working. Suddenly it stop showing q menu. How it's solve ?
I’m not sure bro. That’s not something that should happen😅
@@Iamtongue me solve it myself.
Are they autofocus?
Laowa are very good lenses and there will get even better, watch
They are so good! I’m loving what they’re putting out
@@Iamtongue 👍👍👍
Yeh they make good lenses.
They are the cream of the crop when jt comes to third party manual lenses
😂🤣😂🤣😂 those lenses are bricks!
Haha 😂
