    Such important information, Chris, thank you. My game had gone right 'off' recently with balls going way off both left and right. My husband stood behind me on the course for a few shots and told me I was aiming way right. I was positive I was aiming correctly, I was wrong. Fixed alignment, though my brain fought it for a while, and now much, much better shots at target.

    I'm glad you mentioned shuffling your feet, as I fall into this trap 4 or 5 times a round, typically when I am trying to avoid a hazard on the right or left. Like you suggested in the video, I need to work on building my stance toward an intermediate target (away from the hazard), instead of trying to shuffle my feet. LOL - yesterday, I had a tee shot on a par 3 with a lake all along the right side. I shuffled my feet so much in fear of the lake, that my shot landed about 40 yards to the left of the flag.

      Yeah it’s just running through the correct process Ray, the intermediate target is key for me

    Chris, I believe this is the most challenging thing for us amateurs. Pros need to talk about this consistently to students and us amateurs need to listen and work on it constantly. Thank you so much!

    fantastic lesson on alignment. Its so frustrating to hit the ball well, but land not in the place you were not aiming for. I like the detailed explanation Chris does. Puts a lot of science in how I can correct myself. Two thumbs up for this video

    What a great video. After two years of playing, I have only just recognised I am closed to the target. I am also a shuffler! Thanks for the help.

    Thanks Chris for the clarity in your instructions. Definitely my biggest weakness is alignment. Head fighting body regularly. I will take your set up routine with me onto the course and practice this consistently. Keep up the good work.

    Just a superb video Chris. Makes the whole adage of “just step up and hit it” the worst piece of advice anyone could ever hear! Thanks again for your very professional teaching.

      I’m not one of those guys that says that but I have had it given to me as advice - and it actually worked.
      For me, it was to help me get out of a really bad habit of dwelling on my checklist when I’m standing over the ball, which would always end up with a horrible strike. I learned to compensate by staying in my “thinking box” 2 to 3 seconds longer to get clear my checklist and get my thoughts set, THEN stepping up to the “swing box” to set my position, square the club, then just swing.
      The results, at least in my case, have been great. Much better ball striking.

    Good stuff. Wished I'd seen this before hitting my 2nd tee shot straight OB on Sunday though. My playing partner said "It went exactly where you were aiming, but I thought you knew what you were doing." 😆

    I have been playing a long time and all of a sudden I found myself struggling with alignment. Must practice a routine and always be aware of aiming. I was taking my aim for granted and just thought I was aiming correctly. Great video thanks

    Great tips thank you! I’m terrible with alignment, never paid much attention to walk-in. Can’t wait to give these routines a try

    I believe you have just solved an issue that I have been struggling with for most of this season. It’s amazing how such simple things can play havoc with your game. Attention to detail is imperative. One can look from scratch to a fish out of water with bad ball position.
    Thanks

    Thanks Chris! An intermediate target definitely helps mitigate my big misses. Would you suggest picking an intermediate target on wedge shots too?

    Hi Chris,
    Can you do a video on how you align yourself on uneven lies e.g, above your feet, below your feet and sidehill lies?

    Years ago I used to caddie for a guy who used to discard his cigarette as his intermediate target. He would then pick it up and continue to smoke. Disgusting habit but good player.

    This was a very helpful video. However I have a question about “practice swings”. I was told to always take a practice swing before I shoot my actual shot but from time to time it throws off my alignment. What advice do you have about practice swing before a shot?

    • @stever9583
      @stever9583 2 года назад

      I would suggest you stand some distance behind the ball to practice your swing and then walk in to take your stance. You wouldn’t normally take your stance and then practice a swing.

      @@stever9583 Thank you. I was doing it all wrong. I literally line up as if I'm going to take a shot, take a few steps back to take my practice swing, and then take a few step up and swing smh

    I find myself always aiming too far right, or my playing partner tells me after the fact. Is my body compensating for poor alignment, because they don't always go right ?

  • @vkrattan4611

    it never works unless you know whether you are a fader or draws the ball

  • @rogerwarren2093
    @rogerwarren2093 2 года назад

    Your shoulders were aligned left of the green so the ball went left of pin. Your feet are 24 inches from the ball so aim your shoulders at the flag and hit the ball parallel to your aim and the ball will be 24 inches right of the hole. Seems like a good strategy
