Thanks for comparing! I went ahead and tried the matte stainless for my 90L instead of using glass again. Less maintenance the better plus they match the finish of the Twinstar. BTW, I figured out how to get the 900EC and it works great! Had to 3D print the feet but it was spot on for fitment
Yea less maintainence is a plus in a lot of ppls books. Yea I can imagine 3d printing would work, not sure why they made it shorter on the new versions
For my stainless steel ones, I position them to the side more against the glass because I felt the same way about them being a little bulky and obstructing the view! Great video!
I probably wont be using one any time soon. To my knowledge it basically adds oxygen to the column, kind of like how hydrogen peroxide works. But I’m not an expert on that.
Thanks for the video man! I understand the logic behind steel pipes, but I just bought some glass lily pipes and the aesthetic is just so clean haha. Maybe I'll feel differently if/when I break them haha
initially used a glass lily pipe and worried i will break it, so I got the metal pipe version. Although its safer and practically no algae to deal with, I did get annoyed with the obstruction of view. Would be going back to the glass and keep the metal pipe as a back up option. I'll say only get the metal pipe if ur really clumsy or lazy to clean it bi-weekly.
Another great informative video! I was wondering if the fzone were good quality cause I need to start shopping for lily pipes for my next scape! Perfect timing 👍🏻
@@TankTastic haha yeah I love the look but not looking forward to keeping it clean! That could work and not look as bad as both ss pipes! Curious to see how that looks! 🤔
basically go for the glass if it's for aesthetic, while durability for the stainless steel. I'm using glass right now but with all the algae that keeps on growing on it, I would definitely change it to SS soon because as much as I like keeping my hands wet. I'd rather have it wet for the scape instead of the pipes.
Probably it gets scratched too easily and over time it will look pretty bad. The skimmer are acrylic and on my old pipes, it’s looking real beat up lol
I've managed to get it sorted. Had to use my iPad. Thanks for the code man.. Saw your post on Facebook the other day and decided to get the fzone nano dual stage. Super nice piece of kit ;) thanks

For the right setup that matte pipe set would look super dope but very niche compaired to glass wich would be universaly nice
Bam! a mother epic episode.
Think il go for steel and place them to back of tank.
Thanks dude, you are da king of da planted tank😎
Thank you! And you know what? Back of the tank might be the way to go.

Love the comparison, I've always used the ss myself but going to give the neo flow premium acrylic ones a try on my next build
Thank you! Oh yea the new neo pipes looks sexy. I def will be getting a set! Let me know how you like it when you do get it
For my stainless steel ones, I position them to the side more against the glass because I felt the same way about them being a little bulky and obstructing the view! Great video!
Dude, I was just thinking that. I’m about to stick some styrofoam in there. Saves about 1/2 - 1” lol
Have you done a review for the algae killer discs? Would love to get your take before I decide on which one to purchase
I probably wont be using one any time soon. To my knowledge it basically adds oxygen to the column, kind of like how hydrogen peroxide works. But I’m not an expert on that.
@@TankTastic I thought I saw in one of your videos you have one in use already? One of those Twinstar Nanos?
Thanks for the video man! I understand the logic behind steel pipes, but I just bought some glass lily pipes and the aesthetic is just so clean haha. Maybe I'll feel differently if/when I break them haha
Thank you! You def can’t beat the glass look. All preference. Either way, it’s better than those tubes that comes with the filters lol 😂😂😂

I fall under the lazy category lollll I also agree with your comment!

The metal ones are pretty good. They working on higher quality glass ones they said.
@@TankTastic thanks for the help bro! I just wish the metal ones didn’t stick out so much and had that lily pipe end to direct flow up!
Agreed, I might even swap the outlet with glass and use the ss intake with the skimmer. Glass skimmers are the worst to clean. Lol
@@TankTastic haha yeah I love the look but not looking forward to keeping it clean! That could work and not look as bad as both ss pipes! Curious to see how that looks! 🤔
Now that I think about it, it might look messy lol
Nice comparison! I think you also get less algae in the steel pipes because algae needs light.
That makes sense!

Does it work with the skimmer from the glass set? Is it exactly the same size to fit right?
Yea man, that’s what I did actually. The stainless is currently running with the skimmer from the glass pipes.
@TANKTASTIC
How is the matt steel set holding up?
Looks smart, strong and discreet.
It’s doing good, I clean it less because it doesnt look as nasty as the glass and yea. So far so good, the look is growing on me.
@@TankTastic Hi, is there a link to where I can buy the the matte stainless steel one? I can't seem to find them anywhere. 🤷
@Tankrastic,
Are you're pipes rusting? I'm using the same pipes, and mine start to show rust spots on some places after a week of use.
Yea, I actually see a tiny bit of it. I told that to fzone and currently they are looking into it. Not sure if this is a huge issue or select few.
@@TankTastic I'm reading that sand/glass blasting can trigger rusting. Gutted, they are gorgeous..
@@Piele yea, the matte finish is the culprit. I hope they figure this out soon though, I’m starting to like the look.
Glass for me. While yes it does get dirty, it forces you to clean it instead of putting it off for weeks and weeks
I can't help but think of a morgue table when I see the stainless steel ones. Especially the non-matt types 😬
Had both, went with metal after having to cleaning/breaking the glass. If you're lazy and clumsy, get metal.
I always wonder why there are no transparent acrylic pipes which look basically exactly like the glass ones but are more durable.
Probably it gets scratched too easily and over time it will look pretty bad. The skimmer are acrylic and on my old pipes, it’s looking real beat up lol
There is new product from aquario called neo aquario flow, u can check it
I saw that from MJ and Juris. I will def be getting that once it is available in the states.
@@TankTastic same here bro. Can't wait to get them. Plus they are smaller
Tried using your referral code for a regulator but it isn't working bro ?

@@jonnywylie1966 nice bro, glad it worked. Haha yea sometimes when things dont work, just use another device lol
@@TankTastic 😂😂
Great review, I think I still prefer the glass lily pipes because of there minimal look. But they are a pain to clean aha
Yea it’s kind of like the right brain vs the left brain type of vibe. Lol
Hi, 15% off doesn't work. I was trying to buy the lily pipes.
Hi, I just tried it myself and it works. Did you click the link that takes you to their website? Code should be automatically applied at checkout.
@@TankTastic I couldn’t find any link
glass all the way, but the ss looks sexy too b ut diff
Its a different cup of tea. 😁
Metal looks shit
Glass is def cleaner looking
@@TankTastic especially after 2 weeks, hahaha.Glass will look as septic hole after 2 weeks of no cleaning….
