Love these vids! You should show some of the stuff you've made in the past.
Great idea. I'll put together an episode where you can see all my past stuff. It won't be pretty though. lol
I randomly stumble on your channel and i'm loving what i'm seeing. Keep the cool video coming, i'm very interested in vintage selvedge.
Awesome, thank you!
If I recall correctly, Levi's decided to use different fabrics for the pocket bags of their repros to mimic the original '44s. The scarcity in their regular supply prompted LS to utilise whatever different fabrics where available at the time.
that makes sense. But when the 44's first came out, they only had the olive drag pocket bags.
Back in the day (1970s/1980s) we would soak our new jeans in warm water with baking soda. Wash to wear ratio = 1 to 3. 😉
Great tip!
Maybe the olive drab pockets are meant to represent left over fabric used by the military? I'm just guessing, I don't have a real vintage but I do have an lvc 1944 from late 90s US made
Maybe. Levi’s should mention it in their literature.
Original 1944 did have olive drab pockets
Thanks!
Hey,
Good work and how much wear you saying the older pair has?
Thanks. I probably have 3-4 years of on and off again use on the LVC pair. I get into wearing one style for a few months then switch to another to rotate them a bit. They don't take that long to start to get some good fades and patina.
Had to sub you!
Thanks!
Hang on ..did you say you made denim? I'd love to hear the back story on that. Very cool
It was a few years ago, but it's what got me into the vintage machines and why I love denim so much.
Derek where can I get old school lvc not a skinny fit, had a pair back in day a 501 red tab, colour way was a green die in dark blue any advice,
Hi, Where are you located? In the UK, I know of a few places. Aero Leather carries a nice selection, End Clothing has them but not in long leg lengths. Probably your best bet is to do a google search in your area or have them delivered from an online store that carries them. Even Levis has them but usually not their full range of clothing online.
@@derekdoeschannel hi thank for replying back i staying at moment in uk all try ur advice as be amazing to track a pair or 2 down as I recall the fit as they got over washed and destroyed, all the advice was helpful as 30,30 lg held its own with ur City series or any shoe 👞👊👍
Thank you for the great video ! If i may ask , what is your height and weight ?
Thanks! I'm a bit over 5'10" and weigh about 150.
@@derekdoeschannel thank you so much
Well u don't need rivet on the back pockets do u.. Atleast 1 pocket is enough as u only use the right pocket just saying..
If you're carrying rock ore in your back pocket it definitely helps.
Can you mend my vintage jeans with your vintage sewing machine? Do you do that by chance?
Hi, I currently don’t have the proper machine to do that. There are many places that do have it. I bet you can find a local place that can depending where you live. If not you can mail your jeans to a shop.
How long have you been wearing the 44s for?
Just got them around xmas time so not even a year on this pair. My old pair is 10ish or so
Qual site seguro posso comprar?
Try LVC or Amazon maybe or even your local Levi's store.
Wonder if they made em in prisons in the US. I heard a lot of US jeans are made in the prison system.
I don't think Levi's ever was made in prisons. There was a prison label jean back in the 90's I think.
it's selvedge not salvage
thanks
The old USA version which was made by 555 factory is better than the Japanese version because the quality of denim from 555 factory is very great! The denim of new Japanese version 44 501👖was made in Japan. It’s quality is good, However, the fabrics produced in the United States are always more advanced than those produced in Japan.
I'd have to agree.
Made in USA jeans fabric is too good compare with Japanes made...
Vintage American denim is the same as modern Japanese denim since the USA decided to stop using the original way to weave and dye denim while the Japanese actually bought those machines from old American denim companies and continue to use them when making their denim
My modern pairs are made in Mexico (black and blue denim, both shrink to fit 501s). I got a pair of 501 shrink to fit for Christmas that are made in Egypt. My six or seven year old 550s are also made in Egypt. I love the ticking for the pocket bags. The Japanese pair reminded me of buying school clothes in the 1970s, our jeans came with a lot of tags, "This is a pair of Levi's" tag was coated cardboard. Even without being vintage line, Levi's are still close to $70.00, ha ha.
They're pretty close to each other. The Japanese really take their denim making seriously.
@@internetuser985 No this is a common myth in selvedge denim culture. The japanese brands use Japanese shuttle looms like the toyota ones.
@@DaLoopDiggerz thank you for clarifying!
Try them on with a fully zipped up black leather biker jacket👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿
I'm not sure what you mean?
Levis sucks now.
They're not what they use to be.
Their Vintage Clothing jeans are still good though. Pricey but worth it.
