Is this good for long term storage? I bought the fort knox pistol box but now I'm having doubts about it because it might be too big for a nightstand and is very heavy in my dresser drawer.
If this pistol box is bolted down, I don't see any reason you couldn't keep a gun in it long term. You might throw in a Dry-Packs Silica Gel canister (40 Grams).
The housing welded into this will prevent the punch attack. That's why I recommend it. I didn't bother trying to destroy it, because there is no reason to.
This one is definitely more expensive than then key entry one. However, I am going for this one as it is on your approval list and when I have to open it at night, I don’t want to get the key in the dark while every second counts.
@@HandgunSafe I'm star struck that you of all people commented. I'm bashful lol. I meant hold up to pen testing like if they would be approved on your list hypothetically if they were tested. They seem to have upgraded their boxes with the protective cover as well.
@@HandgunSafe thank you so much. I had been looking at them for a while and was wondering if they met your standard or garnered your general approval lol
That reproduction is out of print. It was a limited run of 500 copies printed and bound by an obscure publishing house. I used to have a collection of books on the subject. Now I just have a few books left, not for sale.
For what it's worth, the amount of top foam on the Brute and the Fort Knox is more substantial, which means you're less likely to have your handgun bumping around and getting scratched against the housing of the simplex lock, should the box get shaken around
@@replacesoundboard thx, I really like the Brute the most but I ended up getting the Viking box that was approved also. It's VERY solid and the price was significantly lower than the others. The foam in the Viking is very thick and I actually removed a layer. Happy with the purchase.
@@HandgunSafe I was looking at this part 1:20 of the video, where part of the simplex lock housing is clearly exposed. I take it there's enough foam to keep it steady, but part of me is still worried by the possibility that there's exposed edges, if you know what I mean.
It's a good day when Handgun Safe approves a safe that isn't gigantic.
Finally, they unlocked the secret to crack open the industry of good handgun lock box.
Thank you for the video! I’ve purchased (and passed) on safes based on your work.
Finally!! A lock box to keep my hem(G)lock safe! 😉😂
A nice solid spooky box!
Ok, I did NOT see that coming!
Ha! Halloween flavor much appreciated 😂
I wish I'd waited. I bought the key version you approved. I do like it, but I would prefer this one instead. Maybe I can sell my current Steelhead.
how do I buy the key version?
I think I might be too early. I don't see the simplex lock link at the end of the video (although I know which one it is)
Already fixed it.

Great video. I wonder if it passes the test using hammer to hit the push buttons? Would it be able to open?

The key version or the simplex lock? What’s the better choice?
It's up to you. I like the Simplex lock version. Fewer keys means fewer keys.
Any approved wall mounted safes? Single handgun and mag?
I haven't come across any that I would endorse.
excellent. some boxes are just designed and built well; it's not magic.
Wonder how V-Line boxes hold up.
They use the same lock. Their boxes look different. I don't know what you mean by "hold up." But I can tell you the difference comes down to style.

@@newyoutube6282 They're both good brands. I would select one that offers the right storage for your needs.

Is this a combo lock?
Yes, it is a pushbutton combination lock.
Say, where can I acquire such a grimoire? Asking for a friend.

That's your call.

@@replacesoundboard Not based on my examination of those same boxes. This box will press the contents together just fine.

Sorry, I couldn't resist
@@replacesoundboard Yah, try to work on that. 😐
