When I used to work in a quilt shop, we had an expression when points didn't match. "Looks like it needs a YoYo!" 😁 Your button technique is another lovely embellished idea when things aren't ideal 😊
I love your process! This year I'm adding sparkles to everything now, too!! Thanks for sharing how you added some little extras to cover up the parts you wanted to hide a bit! XOXO!
Christen, have you ever thread painted? Maybe a panel or a quilted wall hanging? Or what about collage quilting? I’m interested in knowing more about both!
I think both would be a wonderful area to explore and create! As soon as I can learn to stop creating more WIP and UFOs for myself I'd love to explore it with you, but I can't stay focused lately and I start so many other beautiful projects!
I get that! I felt, soon after I got my longarm, that I was cranking quilts out one after the other. That’s when I decided I have to slow down and savor EACH quilt project. And I’m going to finally make the quilt (or two) that I’ve been planning for myself! I’m trying to learn something new with each quilt I complete. Thread painting, appliqué, flange bindings, etc. But the one area that I can’t seem to move forward in is free motion quilting. I have one design that I feel comfortable doing as an all over design and I can’t bring myself to do something different. After piecing the quilt top, I don’t want to wreck it by screwing up the free motion design.
Hi Christen! Last year we had a challenge in our guild and I made a wall hanging with the same exact sparkles that you have. I also burnt myself lol but it was fun!!
Update: Yes, its absolutely ok to wash them. I made sure they were glues down really well with the heat gun. I should have tested this out before I posted the video, but live and learn LOL All turned out great.
That is the best Halloween quilt I have seen. Good for you. Well I’ll be dazzled! I do the same thing when I have a problem, buttons, beads, lace, ribbons, old piece of jewelry, anything I think is cute to put over the mistake, then it is a design element.
I use the crystals too on fabric. If you follow any directions on both the heat gun and your crystals re. how long to heat the glue on them and then let them cool without moving the fabric much, they adhere well. You can wash the item on gentle in cold water. I would dry it partially on air with no heat and then hang it to dry the rest of the way. If it is clothing, I turn it inside out before washing. I always use brand name crystals, usually from bead websites, because you can't be sure the glue on cheaper ones will survive. There are also crystals you can glue on with fabric glue in a tube, and it dries clear. You can also find the crystals in a store's nail supply section because some manicurists use them on fingernails.
Oh my gosh .... I never even thought about that! 😱 I definitely am going to add sparkles to that quilt! I don't know when but I'll be back to share photos!
Wow! Cute ideas! How creative to choose PINK thread for a Halloween quilt and sparkles, too. I’d love to try on a wall hanging. What about laundering? How well do these hold up?
I have that tool. Never thought to use it on a quilt!! How fun. So nice of you to share with us the fact that your points didn’t match. Then, to come up with a clever solution. The button looks like it was meant to be there!! Perfect place for it. Again, thank you so much for sharing.
I think adding sparkles to your halloween quilt is a great idea. I also love adding pink in with my halloween decor. Thanks for your tutorials and your honesty
10-15 seconds for each rhinestone seems like way too long. I’ve used e6000 fabrifuse glue plus the regular glue fix rhinestones for bodysuits and you can apply them much faster than that, although they take a bit of time to dry so I’d leave it flat.
Love the quilt!
This is so cool! I'm totally going to look into this!
Beautiful quilt, I have used the button trick before, or an applique
Thank you for sharing your creative excursion, I enjoyed the journey. ❤ 😊
My pleasure 😊
Would the sparklEs come off in the wash?
They should not, especially when washing gentle, but I will let you know.
Love the sparkles ✨
Thank you so much!
Love the sparkles!!! One thing…. Will they come off in the wash?
When I used to work in a quilt shop, we had an expression when points didn't match. "Looks like it needs a YoYo!" 😁 Your button technique is another lovely embellished idea when things aren't ideal 😊
Oh, that is a cute expression! Thank you so much, it was fun to make.
Love the added buttons in the center. Personally I would have added more sparkle 🤩
Great idea!!
Wow I need one of those tools. Your quilt is amazing
Thank you!
I have seen quilts at a quilt show with sparkles; I found that so interesting. Your Halloween quilt is very cool with the addition of sparkles.
It's fun to add some extra detail and sparkle to the quilts!
I love your process! This year I'm adding sparkles to everything now, too!! Thanks for sharing how you added some little extras to cover up the parts you wanted to hide a bit! XOXO!
Sparkles definitely hide those little imperfections. 😉
I love your idea. I have that tool super great idea😊

Sparkly, like you! How fun is that. I adore the thread color and quilting.
That is so sweet, thank you Phyllis.

That sounds so fun...except the burnt part. ;)
👋👋 ❤ the quilt, just gorgeous. My question is, how do those sparkles work in the laundry process?
Update: Yes, its absolutely ok to wash them. I made sure they were glues down really well with the heat gun. I should have tested this out before I posted the video, but live and learn LOL All turned out great.

I love that. There are so many things we can add to quilts, it is fun to let loose and be creative.

I'm scared to do a HST quilt but I'm going to shoot for the stars and try it out 🤞. I would love to try to sew with glow in the dark thread too.
Go for it! You'll love the glow in the dark thread!
Can you still wash the quilt?
Yes. :)
Now you can Sparkle the Texas Boot Quilt.
I love this soooo much
Oh my gosh .... I never even thought about that! 😱 I definitely am going to add sparkles to that quilt! I don't know when but I'll be back to share photos!
I remembered you wanted to make some of the boots more bedazzled. Can't wait to see what you come up with! ❤
@@ISeeStarsQuiltingphotos? We want video! Doesn’t have to be a big production, just film and yap and post 😂🫶
Adorable!
Great idea
I love seeing new things in the quilting world. Thanks!
I am so glad you like it. It was fun to add to it.
I’m absolutely in love with your quilt and all of the extras that you did with it.
Thank you Deb, that is so sweet of you! 😍
The points off just make it seem more Halloweeny!!🤩 Love the BLING!!
Thank you so much Kim! 🥰
Wow! Cute ideas! How creative to choose PINK thread for a Halloween quilt and sparkles, too. I’d love to try on a wall hanging. What about laundering? How well do these hold up?
Thank you! 😊 They should do great but I will let yall know.
I love the quilt, the adding the buttons draws the eyes away from the no matching seams, great idea. I love it. Sharon
It was really fun to add new things to it.

Thank you for watching and for sharing. It means so much.
I am using some of those same fabrics in a fun Halloween quilt, too! I was going to quilt in black, but maybe I'll try purple 😊
Go for it! I would love to hear what you decide.
Love your creativity.
Thank you so much! 🥰
Thanks. Cool how you did that. Happy Sunday.
Thank you so much. I hope your day was amazing!
Oooh, I don't know how I missed the idea of putting sparkles on a quilt! I would definitely do this on a wall hanging... I am so inspired!
YAY! Go for it Corey!
So much fun! Loved it. AND, the hexagons just look like spider webs that all have points that are different as they hang ;)
Awe, thank you Kim!!!
Very cute. You are so crafty. Love, love love it.
Thank you Maggie, you all inspire me daily. 🥰
So cute! I’ve never seen someone sparkle a quilt. So fun. 💜💜
It really is so much fun! 😁🥰
I also think I can do anything when it comes to projects! Doesn't always turn out great 😂
I mean, your sign says behind you “If it’s pink and sparkles… I need it”… so…. yeah, it was destiny!
Oh my goodness, you are so right! 🥰
As always...extremely creative...how do you do it? I would never attempt such a project. No guts...keep it up.
You can do it! It is fun to lay it all out and then if you don't like it, you can change it up.
A christmas quilt?
I will try working on one.
I think adding sparkles to your halloween quilt is a great idea. I also love adding pink in with my halloween decor. Thanks for your tutorials and your honesty
I love the idea of pink as well. Thank you for sharing.
Sparkles🤩
Let us know how this quilt washes up in the laundry washer and dryer! Would the bedazzle gems fall off in the wash?
Probably about the same as it does on t-shirts that it’s designed for… same fabric 🤗
It should be okay, but I will let you all know.
