Dear lord. I have misheard so many song lyrics. It's hilarious when you're singing along and someone says, "that's not what he/she's singing..." and I will laugh loudest because it's hilarious.

I guess you're right it is a form of it, although I always thought it was more to do with creating sounds from nothing rather than mis-hearing
