      @imglidinhere 8 лет назад +33

      +Greg Gammago His vibrato is the only issue I have nowadays. He seems to waaay overuse it. It's super automatic to every note, so it's always present and doesn't really... add much. I love him and his playing and it compliments the style entirely too, so if it works for him, it works.
      Then again, I'm comparing him to someone completely different so different styles are a thing.

As I listened to 'Miracle Man' and waited for the solo, I was so impressed at Zakk's playing. His technique, taste, syncopation, tone and everything. He instantly became a really big deal to me, because I love to hear deadly serious players display their hard earned art with the rest of us. He was in my favorite category then and has been there ever since. Never dropped out of place. Along with Randy, Jake E. John McLaughlin, Al DiMeola, Allan Holdsworth, Scott Henderson, Jimmy Herring and other world class masters. Thank you.... Danny

    Some of the comments on here are ridiculous and show what's wrong with people's perception of guitar playing. First off, Zakk is paying tribute to Randy whom Zakk cited as possibly his main influence many times. He has gone on record saying Randy was better. Zakk is a great player. Jake E. Lee is very good but he's not even close to Zakk or Randy. Zakk is quite frankly a nice guy. I met him 20 years ago. Randy and Zakk hands down are the two best Guitarists Ozzy ever had and I love Iommi.

      I can tell you for a fact Zakk cites Randy as his main influence (along with EVH) and yes he makes it crystal clear RR was better. I've hung out with Zakk a couple of times on his bus and he spent the majority of time talking about how much he loves Randy and why.

    Zakk is a Technical Player ,,, Randy was an Emotional Pl;ayer 2 very different types of People and guitarists and No one can play another guitar players stuff exactly it is not very possible really you would have to be Perfect and there is no such thing ,,,I do this song and it is very close but not perfect,, anyone who has so much to say should put as video of thier band playing this with the solo up here and lets see how good you are to make such outrageous comments,,,l this is why I will never make any how to videos nor would I ever if I replaced another guitar player put My version on the You Tube Channel it is a waste of time for most people only the haters come out to play,,, no 2 guitarists are the same in playing technique or ability each will have some of one thing and some of another it is what makes us all different

    Zakk rushes the tempo ( rushed? now that he's not with Ozzy any longer?) on everything, plays his vibrato so wide he sounds like he's trying so hard to impress everyone and of course the squeals, oh the squeals...I have seen many a musician come in and cover another players parts even better than the original ( think Randy when he played the Sabbath tunes ) but Zakk is so far off base from the originals that he often sounds like a bar band guitar player. I am amazed that Ozzy put up with him for so many years. I think he choose him simply for his looks at first because he used to look somewhat similar to Randy before he turned into the bloated, alcoholic viking that he has become. I honestly think that when Ozzy finally got sober ( which was only a few years ago) did he turn around and look at Zakk and think "What the hell was I thinking?"

    • @tonycortezzaofficial
      @tonycortezzaofficial 9 лет назад +1

      I apologize that you think Zakk doesn't look like a bloated, alcoholic viking. I apologize that Zakk isn't Randy and therefore cannot possibly sound identical to another guitar player. I apologize that you feel offended enough to write a response to my offensive post.

    • @mpfb99
      @mpfb99 9 лет назад +3

      I hate the squeals... Every damn song in every damn band he's been in and it gets so old so fast. Even though nobody will ever match Randy Rhoads with this solo, you're right. Of all of Ozzy's guitar players, this takes the cake as the worst performed solo of Crazy Train. The whiny vibrato and squeals are so predictable and so shitty

    • @tonycortezzaofficial
      @tonycortezzaofficial 9 лет назад

      Right?? Apparently it's offensive though to bring that up so ssshhhh. I have been watching the RRR Memorial videos ( one of wich has my friend and former band mate August Zadra in it ) and I have to say most of them are frighteningly bad...I mean, the Marty Friedman video he doesn't even play the solo from Goodbye to Romance. I understand "doing your own thing" and all but shouldn't you start with the "original Thing" and then you can go on for 30 minutes if you want to and do your own thing, but to NOT even play the solo made me think one thing..He didn't even bother to learn it...interesting. What a mess all those videos are though, and AGAIN let me just say, there are lots of really good players out there playing RR and doing a fine job...just not most of the people from that show...except August of course...

    • @valerieash
      @valerieash 9 лет назад

      Christopher Stolan dude if you hate the squeals, as you call it. music wise its called pinched harmonic, then you hate randy rhoads. randy used pinched harmonics through out his music, its just not as strong as zakks. and yes zakk does use it more than randy

    • @tonycortezzaofficial
      @tonycortezzaofficial 9 лет назад +1

      Christopher: I Do not hate Randy Rhoads, Randy did not over-use or excessively use pinched harmonics, natural harmonics, finger picked harmonics, or any other kind of harmonics. I'm not quite understanding how someone does not seem to be allowed to make a negative comment about Zakk's playing on youtube. I do not like his playing and I described why, and therefore it seems I am constantly asked why I am criticizing him? My friend loves Zakk's playing just as much as Randy's, I do not. I am not putting anyone down, I am just commenting on Zakk's very well known technique. Randy played behind the beat ( legato) and emphasized the top note of most of the triplets he played, which he is known for as part of his style. Zakk plays the notes all together with no emphasis on distinguishing where the notes fall. It's his style. He rushes, while Randy played behind the pocket. If Zakk want's to put his own spin on things then that's great, remember that the next time you hear someone play a song you know that you don't think their playing is up to the level of the original, because that's all I am saying.
