Why is your hair so dark? You're a farmer. And married (I'm guessing). Who are you dying your hair to impress? The young girls? Yuck.
... seriously?
Lol what?
WTF lol
are we not allowed to dye our hair anymore? people do it all the time. Also some people cant stand gray hair. Also i guessing nobody is allowed to have dark hair anymore? Either way, i feel bad for the hoof gp because he has to deal with hooligans like you.

Two days ago RUclips recommended that I watch a video about a guy trimming some cow's hooves. I thought, "That's weird, a cow mani pedi." so I watched it. And here I am, two days later, still watching this guy deal with cow hooves. Why is this kind of thing interesting? Seriously, I don't understand why I'm oddly fascinated by watching a guy give cows a mani pedi.
... i don't understand the fascination either ... but yet here I am ... 9 years after trimming my first cow 😆😅
The Hoof GP does turpentine harden cow hoofs like it does horse hoofs?
Same
Ghmlyn Ujj lolook
That was we tonight! Haha I’m like 5 videos in now
Just as I finished watching this video, my 3yo daughter stepped on a lego that was on the floor causing her to bleed.... so I immediately:
1. Cleaned the bottom of her hoof with iodine/water solution
2. Slowly removed all of the loose horn
3. Decided not to put a block since it was in a non weight bearing area
4. Sprayed it with iodine
I will revisit her in about 1-2 weeks to reassess her foot and see how she's doing. She should have no problem going back to normal
Brilliant :)
Your daughter caused a lego to bleed?
🤣
@@justmeunicorn No . It was the floor that bled.
So satyrs are watching RUclips?
I appreciate everything about this farm. Moms with their babies, regular hoof trimming, painkillers used, and freeze branding rather than fire branding. It doesn't take that much to recognize pain and suffering when you care. Good farmers are priceless to the animals in their care. ❤
💯
I was coming here to say the same thing, I love these people❤
Ever had a freeze burn? Not nice.
@@21DazzlerA helluva lot better than getting burned with fire...
@@SilverFlame819 Fire or ice burn about the same amount of pain.
I love to hear that the babies are kept with the mommies. I really respect this farmer. The cows look so much happier and healthier.
My Da, when he was still alive, used to say he wanted to come back as a prize bull. The best food, the best care, respect and all the finest cows. It would be a short life, he acknowledged, but a very happy one. Everytime I see a big, happy bull, I can't help but smile.
He probably came back as a bullfrog.
@@jamescameron3522 You felt the need to share this, why?
Sweet story. Thanks for sharing.✌🏼
S Burch why did you feel the need to share your first comment lol

You can really see that farm cares a great deal for their cows. Calves with mother's, hoof care, pain meds for one. I will certainly try to buy from them.
Their stables also look always clean with fresh shavings to lie in. Honestly, that should be common practise for every farm.
keeping calves with their dams isn't an indicator a farm is any better than those that seperate, jsyk! it's done at birth before any bonding, so there's no seperation distress. it's a really good way to keep track of calf heath, make sure they get colostrum and enough feed, and prevent disease spread. once old enough, they do usually rejoin the adult cows in the herd. some farms seperate, and others (like this video) don't. there's pros and cons either way! dairy cows particularly Holsteins tens to reject calves anyway, so it's usually safer on holstein-dominated farms to seperate.
@Geekn Z I'd believe it!
@Geekn Z and the more milk they produce too!
@@SaintNevermore I respectfully disagree. I grew up in a farm myself and we often had to take stillborn calves away from their dams. They were very distressed and some of them we even had to separate from the herd because they tried to steal other calves from their mothers. Cows are very maternal animals, there's always a certain amount of distress when you separate.
Never in a million years did I think I'd be obsessed with hoof trimming videos.
I wish every farm would take care of the cow's like this one does, babies stay with their mothers, regular hoove trimming, pain meds if needed I hope every farm will follow them 🙏
Me too, Maryjane!
Yeah. I was quite surprised to learn that even biological farms take the young cows away from their mothers after weeks or even days….
All dairy farms trim their feet just as we. Happy comfortable cows make more milk
What is happening to me? I’m binge watching this delightful fella. I love RUclips.
I'm not a farmer, have no direct contact with farm animals, and yet I watch his videos a lot.
Same here 😂😂
Make that 4 of us LoL
I'm in there too. That glue must dry pretty quick.
Right there wit ya 🤣
I've worked on dairy farms, and the calves were always separated from their mothers at about four days old. It gives me joy to see these little ones with their mum's for longer. They're probably healthier calves as a result.
If the ice cream is that good, I can't say I blame you two for scoffing the lot! Lol!
Four days?! I grew up in a rural area of Canada where we mostly have beef cows, and they have their babies with them for several months usually. It would be awful to see them separated that soon.
I grew up next a cow farm, not sure if it was a dairy farm or not, they usally took the calves away if the mother wasn't letting it nurse, sometimes the mommas would get really violent towards their babies. Sad to see, but I did get to feed a baby calf because of it.
My godparents run a dairy farm and I’m pretty sure they separate the babies immediately. They’re technically in the same building until they’re due to have calves of their own but it’s still really sad
I love to hear that the calves get to stay with their mamas until weaned. What an ethical dairy farm!!!
Only till they become a veal chop as mommas milk makes their meat more tender hope that doesn’t upset anyone
@@billprezioso3677 shouldn't upset anyone who eats meat ... most meat is from young animals
@@billprezioso3677 yeah I’m not so sure you can call killing animals a bit later than usual ethical
@@Artemisdianaxxx I didn’t say killing any animal is ethical just stating a fact I used to work on a dairy farm and quit because I could never get used to seeing young calves carted off for slaughter
Been a vegan since 1972. Proud and healthy.
What a beautiful farm it’s nice to know that the farmer keeps the calves with their mothers absolutely brilliant I hope that female cow feels a lot better soon bless her she looked like she was in a lot of pain stay safe and take care
Why did I legit think you were trimming an elephants foot?

I thought his reputation has spread and he's been Commissioned by a zoo. Still doesn't seem at all unreasonable. Anyone that has seen the vids can tell what a caring decent bloke his is so hardly a stretch of the imagination.

The music sends me over the edge I love your videos you're editing is incredible I'm a 67-year-old grandma from Nebraska USA and I'm glad you're in my world
I came across your videos by accident and needless to say I'm hooked on them. I love how this farmer cares about his cows. We had a cattle farm in Oklahoma 27 years ago and I truly loved everything about farming. I grew up on a dairy farm in Germany so farming is in my blood 😊.
I love watching how kind you are to the cows, large bulls and buffalos. Your humor is very refreshing!
The calves looked like they were having fun. Bouncing around like little nuts. LOL 😂
Awe, I love that the babies stay with Momma until 6 months old!!
Our beef farm kept them with their mums until they are 12 months then we sold, weaned at 8moths, beef and diary cows develop different though
So am i .
I live within surrounding farmland and to hear cows at night crying for there young is heartbreaking

This farm looks so clean compared to some of the other ones in your videos and the fact that they allow the calves to stay with their mom's is so important. Sounds like a great place
One thing good about your channel is that you actually teach how to identify the problems and show us your view of the best solution. Very nice channel, keep it up!
I love that he takes the time to explain the what and whys of his work. He should be an instructor!
I know! When I look at the new cow I'm like okay white line = good trim & block

"The best ice cream made by very happy cows..." So wonderful the calves are treated so well. Bless these people & all they do!
My hubby loves it, but at times it can be hard to find in the English shops at times.
That’s how calf’s should be treated. It’s shows that obviously the cows can produce just fine that way. What a wonderful way to work a farm. Happy cows happy milk!!!
I was just thinking maybe that’s why the ice cream is so good... happy dairy cows, better milk?🤷🏼♀️
@@bayleighc.5843 more truth to that than you think. It's actually been proven that stressed cows produce sour milk. Happier cows, higher quality cow juice. Of course, most factory farms achieve the same thing with Copious amounts of drugs
@@ethanmurray5001 cow juice?? Best thing ive ever heard
Factory farms are fucking dens of evil!
I don't think there's such a thing as a "happy cow" because the cows still have to be pregnant to produce milk and the male babies get killed in 99% of situations (or sold somewhere else, but most likely for meat), so by buying milk you still support the meat industry and I honestly just don't want to be a part of that
I can't tell you how much I love that the calves stay with their mommas. ❤
Okay I have to admit when he was sanding the crack underside I was literally squinting my eyes to keep the shavings from hitting me in the eyes, Mr. Hoof GP had the perfect camera angle going on 😂🤣😂🤣 I can't belive I'm addicted to watching cows getting their hooves trimmed and all spiffied up...and I swore when I left home at 17 after graduation I was finished with anything having to do with a farm 😅 EDIT: Except horses of course I love my horses ❤🥰

True true I thought it was a elephant :3
Right! I was low key disappointed
Elephants don't have hooves
@@r.brandt2246
For real. Why do they think they would need that ? 😅🤣
@@r.brandt2246 I believe they do or at least a member of all hoofed animals. It may look different but cows look different to horses. Camels, hippos, giraffes as well as deer, sheep and goats do also of course. Please let me know if you check and find out I am wrong, thanks. These are not the only animals with hooves, just my quick list to show how different they can be to each other.
I've been working on a dairy farm in the US this summer, and this video has inspired me to help the owner explore more ethical options for his business. Thanks, Hoof GP!
Good for you!!!!
There are a lot of benefits to the system on this farm, not least for the cow and calf welfare, it has advantages with calf health, growth rate and costs too. Bear in mind this is an organic farm and there is a large saving on calf feeding costs to balance against the loss of milk yield from keeping the calves at foot until they wean.
I have so much respect for farmers. Being responsible for the well being of so many huge animals is daunting.
You were right about the area being really beautiful. I think the reason why their dairy products are so good is because their cows are happy because they have a chance to be with their calf's for 6 months, it's amazing how something so simple can make your cattle so happy and therefore your dairy product quality so much better
Thank me for watching? Thank YOU! Thank you for opening your life and beautiful family to us. For the beautiful music. For the care and respect, and individualisation of the animals you treat that for many would otherwise remain just another fixture in just another pasture as we drive past consumed by our own cares.
For showing how to find satisfaction in our lives, occupations, families, communities, and environments.

Okay the ad that came up was hysterical. It was about some kind of grinder to get the calluses off a human foot

What a beautiful farm! Cows look so chill. I wish all farms were like this.
"If you are wondering, 'Did they really eat all eight tubs of ice cream?' Yes. Yes they did." You guys are hilarious! (Though your wives might wish you had saved some.). Here's hoping the bull with the pretty white heart and but bad feet is finally on the road to soundness. Good that your new crush made it possible to get at the problems in his hooves in a way you couldn't before. One more reason why getting this well-designed hydraulic crush was so important.
I really like that the farm advertises itself as an "ethical dairy" right on the ice cream tubs and that the calves are left with their mothers until they are weaned.
You live in a beautiful place. But you knew that. Thank you for this video. How you have the time and energy to make them is beyond me, but I'm glad you do.
I like that farm too and I could just tell that the ice cream is the creamiest and freshest heh, heh.
It would of melted before he got home 😉
Actually leaving the calves with their mothers could be considered unethical. The reason the calves are separated is that they can be injured or killed while milling with the full grown cows. You have to be extremely careful if you don't separate them and it is often better to separate them for their safety.
Plural wives??
I can't get over the colosssal size of the bulls hoof. Great job again. I hope you and Dougie Boy split the ice cream 50/50. Judging by the look on your face it was really good.

I love that they keep the calves there with the mothers, they are so cute playing together!
Same they are sooooooooooooooo cute playing together!
When I was very young 5 or 6 my dad would take me around to my great uncles cattle. There was a huge Red Bull with a white face that I remember wouldn’t let my dad or great uncle around him but I could walk right up to him and pet him. This made me think that all bulls were super sweet and my dad caught me trying to get on the back of a huge Brahman bull at one of the cattle actions. I just really wanted to touch it’s hump cause it looked super squishy. 🤷🏼♀️
He must've not seen you as a threat, being that young. Must have been a cute sight to see.
When I was kid, my dad used to manage a farm where we had beef cattle, at around age 4 I 'vanished' one day they could not find me anywhere, bearing in mind we had grain pits, silage pits and slurry lagoons, they must have been frantic.
Then my dad noticed all the cows stood in a circle in the middle of a field, which was unusual as normally they are spread out grazing or lying chewing cud, he went over and I was in the middle of them, getting licked all over, they parted as my dad gently made his way through and picked me up.
To be honest I was probably in no danger, unless they got spooked by something, cows are VERY gentle, inquisitive and for the most part safe.
We also used to sit on the backs of the bullocks, in the yard never ever fell off or had a problem with them, used to put a bit of corn in their trough dad would lift us up and stand there stroking them whilst we just sat there stroking them.
I love cows, and the way this farm manages its cows and calves is actually quite amazing, sacrificing part of their yield for the calves benefit is very unusual but it also gives the calves the best possible start and I bet they have near zero mastitis problems, because of this.
And that bull is a sweetheart, though I bet he changes a little bit when he is working, being, kind, calm and respectful of the animals ALWAYS pays off, in kind, calm and respectful animals in return, being nasty or cruel to or with them never pays, is counterproductive and says a lot about the management of a farm.
The places that you go, seem to have nailed this perfectly but I suspect you would not be wanting to be associated with those kind of places anyway, regardless of your love of making animals well and comfortable, some places make this not worth the effort.
I think we all want to feel a Brahman hump
