Hi Steve, Do you think using only one bead below the hook link , omitting the bead above would work thereby not contravene fisheries rules. Great videos, cheers
As you said about the hook length you i use hook to nylon straight out the pack at 12" and i have great success i used to tie my own i think they are perfectly tied and they come in every size hook and breaking strain line
If I was doing the exact fishing you are here, I would swap the bottom stop for some type of line-saver bead like you get in chod-rig set-ups. Then I would probably get rid of the top bead altogether. It would make the rig safer, and would stop the line getting damaged by the swivel. As you have it, it's more suitable to silvers.
Hi Matthew, That would definately be an option. The top bead moves with minimum pressure, it's nice and safe for carp fishing. I've never had an issue with the swivel damage the mainline however, it's worth thinking about and ensure you use a nice robust line. Regards Steve.
Great video as always Steve. Some beautiful looking Carp there buddy. What breaking strain mainline and hook length where you using. And what length rod did you use as I only have a 9 foot Matrix bomb rod and yours looked quite long in the video. Cheers mate and tight lines.
Thanks Mark! I use 8lb mainline for this, with a similar strength hooklink... the bites can be very aggressive so you need to be prepared for that. I use a Matrix 12ft Feeder Rod however, your 9ft Bomb Rod would be fine. Regards, Steve.
I look at this way Steve if it's working stick to it, if it's not broke don't fix it, a very good video again from you, i fished that peg a wile ago and had some nice bream, Thank you
That's a very good stance to have James... If it's not broke don't fix it. Always a few nice bream to be had at Suffolk Water Park. Glad you enjoyed the video, thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. Regards, Steve.
Hi Chuck, This is certainly something you need to check, if the venue was strictly free running rigs only, I would revert back to the inline set-up. Regards, Steve.
It's certainly worked for me in the past! You could add a bag to this rig however, you wouldn't be able to fish the hooklink up the line as the cast would cause the bead to slip down towards the lead. Regards, Steve.
I've been testing the same rig setup last year, and to be honest, compared to inline led setup.... it doesn't have a groundbreaking diference. Sometimes the inline got me more fish, another time the "run rig" got me more fish... it's kind of 50/50.
Hi Ivan, Thanks for sharing that's very interesting. In the silty lake this rig was definitely better, however i'm yet to confirm on other venues. Regards, Steve.
Going back to traditional ledger techniques, the old ways are still the best. Don't know why you made it so complicated though by using all those swivels etc to attach the lead, I just use a loop at the end of the line, It's just as quick to take it off.
I would just use a running bomb and change rig length don't like the look of all the clips swivels etc on this version if a helicopter set up. If heli setup was vital i would look at a similar set up to a carp heli but with smaller components. Also be careful of swivel cutting through the line after multiple fish!
Hi Andy, Thanks for the comment. I used to change my hooklink like you mention however, I was concerned the line would be kicking out of the silt in an obvious way. Interesting you mention about a carp heli, maybe that's worth looking into. I must say I have never had the line cut due to the swivel, even after multiple fish and sessions. Regards, Steve
Hi Bert, This rig is nice and simple to tie. I will film a Quickbite video showcasing the step by step process, keep your eyes on ADTV. Regards, Steve.
Hi William, thanks for the comment. If the rules state it cannot be used then we have to respect that however, most of the venues I fish don't have this rule. Regards Steve.
Can be made more tidy & compact. Cut off the lead swivel, use smaller clip & sheath the clip/lead ring with a tail rubber. Less exposed metal bits could help with less fish damage
Thanks for talking the time to leave a comment, you could certainly tidy this a-bit by adding a small tail rubber or removing the QC swivel, personally I like the ability to be able to swap leads or feeders in a second so the QC element is important however, I may have a play with some tail rubbers. Regards, Steve.
I don't see how this can be "the future of bomb and pellet fishing" when on 80% of waters you are not allowed to put a stop above a free running rig? I am not dissing it's cleverness, just the practicality, and the fact you would be breaking fishery rules on most commercials.
Hi, Thanks for the comment, it's nice to hear people views. This rig isn't a danger to the fish, the top bead moves under the smallest amount of pressure, in the event of a breakage the fish would only be left with the hook-link. Regards, Steve.

Really good. Pleasure angler so like things simple.
Brill steve great set up 😊

That would certainly be free running !!!
Great video! Fantastic fish!
Glad you enjoyed the video, Regards, Steve.

I completely agree, pre tied hooklinks are better than ever now. Regards, Steve.
I fish lakes that are very shallow and silty. So helicopter style will really help thanks for the ideas
No problem, this rig will be perfect for that situation. Regards, Steve.
Love it Widget 😊😊
Really like the setup any links online how to make a rig like this? I don't get how the hook length stays on?

Do you clip up when casting? Or are you stopping the line with your finger? Brilliant video thank you 👍🏻
Hi Lee, I was stopping the line with my finger, those fish are too big to risk clipping up. Regards, Steve.
@@AnglingDirectTV cheers Steve
@@AnglingDirectTV Can I ask one last question Steve, how long do you soak them pellets for ? Thank you
Loving those fullys!
Some special fish for sure 🔥

If your fishing pellet waggler with waggler afaptor you could change over to this method really quick .
I have done this before myself however, I do prefer dedicated set ups for the waggler and bomb. Regards, Steve.

Most commercial venues have a free running rig rule, unfortunately the helicopter rig would be illegal to use.
Depends on the fishery.
Hi Chuck, This is certainly something you need to check, if the venue was strictly free running rigs only, I would revert back to the inline set-up. Regards, Steve.
think using 1stop aboven and 2/3 stops under it..think it will improve the hooking of the fish..on the lead greetings jojo feederchamp 2019 holland
Maybe something to think about, thanks for leaving a comment. Regards, Steve.
I really like this idea, sometimes when bites slow up I would hook on a little mesh bag, would it work the same helicopter style?
It's certainly worked for me in the past! You could add a bag to this rig however, you wouldn't be able to fish the hooklink up the line as the cast would cause the bead to slip down towards the lead. Regards, Steve.

@@AnglingDirectTV hm, maybe you’re right. I don’t fish very often in silty lakes
Can I ask how long you soaked the pellets for? Thank you
Hi Lee, I soak the pellets for around 3-5 mins, just long enough for them to take on some water. Regards, Steve.
Some cracking carp caught there mate...what oz tip did u have on for carp like that?
Hi Gavin, Thanks for the comment. I use a 2oz tip for all of my bomb fishing, I want to ensure bite detection is still good. Regards, Steve.
@@AnglingDirectTV thanks mate im just wondering if my barbel rod that has a 2oz power quiver would suit the job...what do u think?

does this class as a fixed lead?
How long do you leave the 8mm pellets in to soak?
I leave these for around 3 minutes in water. Regards, Steve.
@@AnglingDirectTV Thanks! Great vid btw.
Yeah looks good but you can't change to a method like in the ics way only down side mate!?
Hi Peter, You can change to a feeder but agreed, some rigs let you swap between the straight lead and method feeder. Regards, Steve.
As you said, in effect that is just the old fashioned paternoster rig.
Hi Jason, agreed I've not invented a rig, I've just found this very effective on particular lakes. Regards, Steve
Bigger landing net?
😂 That would have been handy for this trip, the size of the fish took me by surprise. Regards, Steve
Definitely a rig I will have a go at. I like the idea of soaking the pellets first but how long are you soaking them?
Hi Julie, Give it a go and let me know the outcome. I soak the pellets for around 3-4 mins, just time to soften slightly. Regards, Steve.
I would just use a running bomb and change rig length don't like the look of all the clips swivels etc on this version if a helicopter set up.

What lake was you fishing ?
Hi William, This was filmed at Suffolk Water Park on match lake 1. Regards, Steve.
Why not just use a free running feeder link ?
How to tie this rig up plz

@@AnglingDirectTV plz message me when ur going to do the video so I can look out for it plz
A bit messy and the hooklength is loosely connected to main
Done that for years always catch
Hi Paul, Nice to see its been working for others, thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. Regards, Steve.
All the venues I fish in the east, have to be 100% free running so a Halle rig is out of the question
Hi William, thanks for the comment. If the rules state it cannot be used then we have to respect that however, most of the venues I fish don't have this rule. Regards Steve.

All venues l fish all rigs have to be free running unfortunately
Hi Darren, That is the case for some venues however, most venues near me don't have that rule. Regards, Steve.
No, not the future, and in my eyes a danger to the fish. Not something I would ever use. Then again, I dont fish matches or commercials often.

Yes I’ve been doing that way for quite awhile , and yes I trend to get the bigger fish and I nicked it from the carp fishin men 😂😂🎣🫶👍
