Recently fished a new carp lake. Boilies at distance, nothing. Short range 6ft from the bank on sweetcorn, 8lb and 13lb mirrors 4lb tench and 5 crucians. What an amazing session. Absolutely works and is often neglected!
Quality! I've been fishing at my local lake no more than 10 metres out & up to 2 metres in. Had some decent fish, Bream up to 6lb & Tench 4- 6lb. Really enjoyed watching this post, cheers.
I use an old Okuma dyna-drag 040 myself, there is several available in the 040/4000 size, some in 030/3000, and as small as 2500 too, DAM, Daiwa, Shimano, Shakespeare, and a couple of Advanta's too off the top of my head.
Brilliant video, like the way Steve explains the style of fishing with clear and concise instructions. Many thanks, i look forward to seeing more videos.
Great video , my fantasy to take on the pole guys and win with a feeder …sadly not had the bottle or confidence to do so yet ( almost feel embarrassed to be there) but this is an inspiration 👍
Don't be embarrassed to be there, we all start the journey at some point. I've fished loads of matches without using my pole... get out there and smash it 🍀 Regards, Steve.
@@AnglingDirectTV I definitely had more bites than usual, unfortunately I had just a half bag left and around 12a clock I finished them and slowly my peg died to be honest. Now I got some more feeding pellets so next time will be even better ❤️
Great video and idea.. been waiting years for this kind of video... not everyone has ££££ for a pole... some of us are a more "tradition angler" more skill in casting etc

Hi Stephen, cracking video again. Was just wondering if this would work on natural venues with silvers/ Bream as I don’t do carp fishing and mainly fish natural venues. How would you tweak this for silvers on natural venues. Cheers Mark
Hi Mark, The method feeder is suited to commercial fishing, especially when targeting carp and F1's. You will catch bream on this method however, you may find switching to a traditional open end feeder with groundbait and maggots would work better. Regards, Steve.
im going to use the method more this year and always envious of other peoples pellets on their tray so will try your way Also how do you method feed with fishery only pellets because surely they wont bond and they say no additives
It's well worth a go this year. Preparing fishery pellets in the same way should be fine, they all use the same pellets these days. Iv'e not seen a venue ban liquids before so you should be fine. Regards, Steve.
What happens if you don't set the clutch? I lost all my rig when I hooked 3 fish. I had the feeder running up to a swivel that was tied with a blood knot. But lost the lost every time. I'm new to this and think it could have been th clutch?
If you don't set the clutch you risk loosing the fish or breaking your line. When fish charge off at short range you need to give them some line to avoid breakages. I would say this was your issue the other day. Regards, Steve.
You could certainly do this with a lead arrangement as you mention, for me the feeder just draws fish directly to your hookbait faster. Regards, Steve.
A good video, but surely you can find a better venue than that to film at? A lake made out of crash barriers….. surely the most depressing, soul-less, dreadful and unimaginative fishing lake on the face of the planet (not to mention totally devoid of habitats, biodiversity and security/feeding options for the fish. Dreadful, absolutely dreadful😢
Not really as the putty doesn’t grip onto the line and the weight of the feeder would just push it off if he broke off. You will notice that he has to keep repositioning it because it slides on the line.

It's often the case, many people neglect this area! Im glad you have been catching a few, thanks for leaving a comment. Regards, Steve.

Sounds great! Glad you enjoyed the video. Good luck with your fishing. Regards, Steve.
Perfect method for a small baitrunner-style reel, no repeated faffing with the clutch/drag, just flip the lever.
That's how I do it too, shamano 4000 baitrunner 👌🏻
Yep, a small bait runner would be perfect if you own one. Regards, Steve.
Doesn’t seem to be any small bait runners. They’re all huge chunky things with massive line capacity. Any suggestions?

I don’t fish matches but I love method feeder in the margins and short range.
It's a great way to fish, lots of people still neglect this area. Regards, Steve.
Another great video from Stephen will be trying this later this week
Good luck! I hope you manage to catch a few. Regards, Steve.
I really enjoyed watching that. Very well presented. I know where I've been going wrong now..!! Thanx for the info. Cheers.
Great video thx Steve. Great to see the tip wrap round, will definitely give it a try.
Glad to help 😊

Super fun video to watch, I will try this tactic on a match lake on Sunday and see how I will do

Liquidised bread on the feeder maggots on the hook

What rod do you fish with or what would you recommend?

Would you not use a bait runner with this method? If you do, and the drag is set very light, would your rod tip still swing round like that?
A bait runner would be perfect if own one. You still get the crazy bites however, it's nice and quick to flick into freespool mode. Regards, Steve.
great vid stephen ,do you fish at Float Fish Farm
Thanks Nick, Glad you enjoyed the video. I have never fished Float Fish Farm however, I do have a Fish O Mania qualifier there soon. Regards, Steve.
Enjoyable stuff.
Thanks Steven. Glad you enjoyed the video.

Enjoyed that thank you .
Glad you enjoyed it, Regards, Steve.
Why wouldn't you use a Baitrunner Reel for this style, rather than keep changing clutch settings?
If you own a baitrunner that's a great option, personally I use the same set up for all commercial fishing that's all. Regards, Steve.
sorry im new to this but does the method ever land upside down ?
A Method Feeder will always land the correct way up, that's the way they are designed. Regards, Stephen.
How to attach the putty so it doesn’t slide on the line ?
You cant fully stop it sliding as the mainline is so thin however, by allowing the putty to slide slightly the rig remains safe. Regards, Steve.
@@AnglingDirectTV thanks

feeder is realy not needed on this distance. just put sime lead on and feed it like pole anglers by hand or catapult
You could certainly do this with a lead arrangement as you mention, for me the feeder just draws fish directly to your hookbait faster. Regards, Steve.
Those steel pilings look awful, totally unnatural.

Isent using putty above the feeder stopping it being a free running rig
Not really as the putty doesn’t grip onto the line and the weight of the feeder would just push it off if he broke off. You will notice that he has to keep repositioning it because it slides on the line.
Ok thanks
