Happy Easter! Looks like the Easter Bunny brought us a new Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction video. :) This one features, among other stories, The Hooded Chair which was highly requested. I hope you're all having a great holiday weekend. Thank you so much for hanging out in my little corner of the internet. Stay safe and have a great day/night/unit of time. I'll see you in the next video! Bye!

Here are some fun facts about that episode that I found out while researching for my review of Beyond Belief:
    1. The lion head that you see at the beginning of Kirby. I think that's the same one that was used in the movie, Jumanji.
    2. The story, A Joyful Noice, was based on an incident that happened at the West End Baptist Church in March of 1950. The story became a segment on Unsolved Mysteries.
    3. The story about the cursed chair was based on a chair, known as the Chair of Death, in England that took out anyone that sat on it an hour later. Museum got a hold of the chair and made it so that no one can sit on it ever again. This chair was also a segment on Unsolved Mysteries.

Then when I realized it was based on that chair and they have it suspended in the air puts me at alot of ease. 😮‍💨 I don’t remember any of the other episodes other than the hooded chair. I have very fond memories of my teenage years getting home from school and watching this show. Most people I know were terrified of the Red Eyes and The Woman in the Mirror stories, which I totally get. But for some reason I was always terrified of the couple that got lost on the endless subway xD. I still have a soft spot for the show, especially for the "kinder" stories. I like that sometimes it's just a story about a random person showing up and helping someone or a random inconvenience happening that ends up saving someone's life. I`m a skeptic through and through but I still enjoyed those stories immensely.

@@AveryTalksAboutStuff Heck yeah I did catch up! And I did actually look up the story about the choir and it looks like in this case they stayed very close to the true story. Right down to the choir teacher being known for everyone expecting to be super punctual. And it was more singers even xD

One of them weird things that happened here (I live in Nebraska, not in Beatrice tho) that just kinda lives rent free in my head. Idk why but I'm proud of myself for knowing that lol- (I did look through a few articles n found some reports from the Beatrice Daily Sun and at one point looked at some other articles last time I researched this. Kinda interesting to read about.) (Someone else commented on this but I'm still happy I knew this-)

Fanfact: the show was very popular in my home country Germany that even to this day it is still broadcast on TV every sunday on the channel RTL2 however for the past few years it has been severely cut in some stories because apparently some parents were upset that it was being broadcast at 9 a.m where children could watch it and of course they shouldn't see that, I saw it as a kid and I'm totally normal - at least you can see the episodes uncut on Amazon Prime.
Last year, a new separate episode was even produced for the German audience, where Jonathan was even called in. The episode was broadcast on Halloween 2021 at 8:15 p.m

Oh... this show used to frustrate me so much as a kid. Revealing something as 'Fact' and then cutting off abruptly is just trolling. Trying to research the stories later in the 90's was damn near impossible without further info. I knew at least one story was actually true: the woman who lost her sick mom in a hotel only to come back and find a completely different room and no knowledge of her mom's existence.
This show would be harder to pull off nowadays. Not just due to the stories, but due to lack of Jonathan Frakes. Can't think of a modern day host for this.

The Malibu Cop segment seems to be based on Robert LeDru, a well-known French police officer who determined that he was guilty of murdering someone in his sleep during a vacation in Le Havre in the 1880s. LeDru was real but it seems like some modern writers think the story about him is apocryphal. Which still makes it better-sourced than your average Beyond Belief segment.

You should check out Creep Show some time, not the original movies but the newer AMC series of it. It's a pretty creative and well-written horror show with a decent amount of practical effects and very minimal CGI which feels like a total breath of fresh air nowadays.
Some of the segments are extremely weird though, occasionally even heading into borderline [adult swim] levels of insanity. They've shown Bob Ross killing zombies, furries fighting guys in Santa suits, and an exterminator being attacked by man-sized bugs if that says anything lol.

The story about the choir members being late and the church exploding was also in an episode of Unsolved Mysteries from the '80s or early '90s. I was watching old reruns of that show a few weeks ago (it's a childhood favorite) and saw it on there. UM also had a very similar story to the one about a cursed chair where everyone who sat in it died, but I don't think Napoleon was involved in that one.

Oh man I remember that episode. My favorite one was a true story about a vampire called blood bank. I still remember the 1st time I seen it. When the vampire jumped out the window and landed on a car they looked out the window and he was gone. For some reason after that one time they aired it they cut that part. I'm so glad Johnathan Frakes said "He jumped out the window, 6 stories never to be seen" because they cut that part. And that's a important detail people oughta see to show he was a real vampire and not just some poser.

And I’d feel safer around gorillas and robot ones than humans tbh
And haha that’d be hilarious, I also lowkey hoped that gorilla would go for Jonathan Frakes for a second or something 😂
*The second story,* the shorter dude is Miles from the Sabrina the Teenage Witch Goes to College or whatever it’s called lol
AVERY! What’s with you and two other youtubers I watch that call out everything from the start haha
What if we’re both dead and don’t know it for liking that music, then? 😶😳
But so anticlimactic as if they had to rush that ending because they suddenly ran out of ideas the second the guys walked inside…
*Third one,* the dad from Eerie, Indiana
But it seems dumb hah but agreed, but he’s a cop so the giveaway is in his job… sounds just like a shitty excuse tbh, “uhh idk I was asleep so…”
*The fourth one* is amazing and it’s real or could and can be, idc what he says after lol
Early is on time, on time is late is (also) an old German expression. Known for being punctual too. It goes: five minutes early is on time, on time is late, and late is unacceptable.
*the fifth one,* yes blessings and curses are real obviously and this one COULD be real, as I’ve heard of the cursed chair in England so they put it high up on the wall so no one sits and dies in it, so could be real but this still seems ridiculous, yknow… and this DOES seem like a parody of that…
Agreed about the bay windows! Reading nook is what it’s meant for! Probably…
The Napoleon arc is the dumbest shit too like yes those chairs are an old thing and so is he but I guess that’s all they needed to write this 😂 but like come on, man…
    Idk, the internet wasn’t a thing so…
Spirits are obviously real so can happen so either way
The cop turning himself in can be real but doesn’t seem likely, sadly
See, miracles and protection are real so
    The chair one, see above

I actually didn't know that about the actors being from other stuff! I appreciate your perspective, this show is always wild.

Wait, you can just call in sick without a doctor's note in the US??

Typically, but our healthcare is so non-existent that going in for the note is usually too expensive. 😅

Question. Is saying unaliving really an alternative to suicide? You're essentially saying the same thing.

I find it a bit gentler but also certain words get flagged by RUclips.
