The best example of satirical backmasking on an album was by Weird Al Yankovic , on his song “Nature Trail to Hell,” a thematic parody of ‘80s horror movies. There’s this seemingly garbled part, you play it backwards, and Weird Al is saying, “Satan eats Cheez Whiz.”

I went to the play last year and they did Murder on the Jerusalem Express, meaning Jesus was dead for pretty much the whole play and the majority of it was trying to solve the mystery of who murdered him. Spoiler: it was all of us.

I'm a catholic and I thought that my church was extreme right wing but after 5 minutes of research I now know that Evangelical church is... oh my god it is. At least we treat women and men equaly. It’s okay that Santa almost killed an old woman and kidnapped her but how dare Cousin Mel almost ruin Christmas by getting financial compensation and trying to sell the family business at a huge profit!

The reason why the chandelier didn't drop in this version is because it physically wouldn't work for the specific theatre they performed in. This theatre also caused issues with the set so there was way less set than usual due to the size of the stage. For example, the stairs on either side of the stage are definitely not usually on stage, and when the Phantom manages to get Raoul in his lasso, he usually ties the lasso around the metal gate in his lair, he doesn't just leave him hanging on some random stairs.

2024 was my year to try as many versions of A Christmas Carol as I could find and I have watched and listened to 190 different versions in addition to going back and rewatching 30 of them at least twice.

The muppets version, the goes wrong version, and the Doctor Who version though it doesn’t have Scrooge in name it does have him in spirit. Those are my favorites.

Back in 2023, one of my friends decided that we would start a new tradition of Christmas movie marathons starting with Christmas Carol adaptations. We managed to watch just over 30 of them before we had to tap out (surprisingly we've beat our record with Nutcrackers this time), so I am genuinely in awe of your commitment! Of the ones mentioned here the Muppets, Mr Magoo, and Goes Wrong Christmas Carols are some of my personal favorites; my friend keeps rewatching the Rankin/Bass Stingiest Man In Town; and we were both surprised by how much we enjoyed the 2004 movie adaptation of the Broadway musical! Starkid's VHS Christmas Carols hit particularly hard for us and easily wound up on loop. This year I surprised myself further by finding ballet adaptations to add to our truly neverending movie list (which were of course a wonderful break from all the Nutcracker ballets X'D). We really loved the ghosts in the Northern Ballet production, but the Finnish National Ballet also did some really cool stuff with Marley and Christmas Past.

As a massive Dickens fan, i applaud this project and your short film. This was such a delightful watch and a good reminder of why i love the book so much. 😊

2 more that i really like are the doctor who xmas special that does a christmas carol and an episode of xena warrior princess called "a solstice carol" where xena pulls the ghost thing on a some rich guy to trick him into becoming a good person

One of the other lady Scrooge's we have which is more of a parody has Catherine Tate as one of her characters in a Scrooge-like position. David Tennant is one of the ghosts which is how I remember it. Your projects sound amazing too, where can we watch your stuff?

So... thank you for sacrificing a bit of your sanity for this but I think this puts you in a position where you might be able to answer whether Scrooge in the book was maybe a little less awful than he's often portrayed in film? Or is he moreso? I've also seen others say that ACC is more about people generally losing the will to celebrate the old holiday in the old ways, a commentary on industrialization too I guess. Also, what do you think of the word Scrooge being associated with his bad behavior, not his redemption? Like it SOUNDS like what he does before, maybe that's part of it, but being a scrooge isn't learning from his lessons and reforming, it's being a bastard

Fun fact: The 1971 animated version is directed by the late Richard Williams who 17 years later would do the animation for Who Framed Roger Rabbit. In sort of a funny coincidence since the motion capture version was directed by Robert Zemeckis. Also, I got to see the stage musical based on the 1970 version in 1996 with Anthony Newley (the guy who wrote the songs for Willy Wonka) as Scrooge which was really good and possibly better than the film version. Also has another twist where Ghost of Christmas Past is Scrooge's dead sister.

I was really happy to know that you enjoyed the Alastair Sim version as it's my all-time favorite. Despite all the numerous versions I've seen before and since, I've never been more moved than watching Sim humble himself before Fred and his wife at their Christmas party: "Can you forgive a pig-headed old fool for having no eyes to see with and no ears to hear with all these years?" P.S.: How did I not know until today that Cicely Tyson and Katherine Helmond once played Scrooge and Marley? That's awesome; thanks for that

Also The Somewhat Forgotten PBS Kids Show "Adventures In The Book Of Virtues" Has A Two Part Episode Of/About Christmas Carol. Veggitales Did A Version Called An Easter Carol. You hit the nail on the head when you said that as artists we should focus on trying to entertain people doing more important things, because that's the mantra I try to live by.
