Isn't the lion from the Care Cousins? If memory serves, the Care Cousins (a group of random animals with similar abilities) joined the Care Bears in their cloud kingdom. The lion was put in charge when a group of the Care Bears went to save someone. It is in part of the series at some point.
There is another Care Bears cartoon for Saint Patrick’s Day that is a little more connected to the holiday. The episode is called The Lucky Charm. In it Good Luck Bear and his peers try to boost the confidance of a young girl named Millie who is butterfingers with low-self esteem.
My favorite quote in Care Bears is Grumpy being asked why sleeps on a rain cloud, and he said, "I like rain clouds, it matches my personality." I still think about it all the time.
I remember there was an episode of the Care Bears with this guy Professor Cold Heart. Which just lives vividly in my memory. But I forgot what the episode proper was called.

I love the 80's Care Bears cartoon. Yeah, it's kinda cheesy but it's such a comfy show.
