@@Kaden_SparksYT That might happen. I wear tons of rainbow accessories when I'm out and about and have never been stopped about it. Also little kids are pretty chill these days about that stuff. If anyone would have a problem with it it would have to be some disgusting adults lol. But I see your point regardless.
Be careful when parting pieces at high speeds, put a rod in the tailstock chuck to prevent your workpiece to become a rocket. You're lucky you dodged a bullet this time. Listen to my advice I work on a lathe every day. Have fun and keep on going with your crafts I hope you have your handcrafts recognized on the web
I had a five pound piece of steel come off a metal lathe once at 1300 rpm (someone changed the speed while I was away and I didn't notice until it spun up), a steel gas bottle, and it almost killed me. Thing just about punched a hole in the 1/16" steel guard on the back of the lathe and bounced back out right over the top of my head before I could blink. I always put that tailstock in after that whether I was turning a part at 5 or 5000 rpm lol... Never did find out the dipshit who messed with my gearing but thats what you get in high school shop classes lol. My shop teacher however, made it _incredibly_ clear afterward, that changing the settings on someone else's machines without permission again would result in expulsion if they were caught. Lathes will take you out in a variety of ways, they're among some of the most dangerous pieces of machinery out there. Guy at work a couple years ago almost got eaten by one turning at only a few rpm luckily (cutting 3/8" knurles into 4" steel round stock for log feeder rollers), it grabbed his shirt and was pulling him in. The only other guy in the shop saw what was happening and ran over to him from 60 feet away, he pulled out his pocket knife as he was running and cut him free with literally seconds to spare before it wrapped him around a 4" steel rod. I think the proper thing to say about a lathe is be careful when you're doing _anything_ and _everything_ with a lathe, each and every step deserves the utmost respect. They'll demand it of you if you don't and you won't be able to resist its will. You can't say no to 5 horsepower (or in my coworkers sake 30😐) or something flung by 5 horsepower.
@@Augustbeauty69 more dangerous than u would even initially think. I have a weird hobby of reading accident reports of injuries and deaths that occur in different types of work places and trust me, anything that spins is not something to be taken lightly. Basically, in worst cases, there is a chance that by the time someone turns it off, there is nothing left that resembles a human. I wish i had even a quarter of the talent someof these people do on here. I love watching these videos.
You got the talent, it's an amazing work , but be careful when you parting the workpiece, when it starts to wobble stop the machine and use handsaw to cut it off. Luckily it doesn't turn into a disaster or injuring you.
I really appreciate that you showed us that you made a mistake. You showed us how it happened, how you fumbled to try and stop it and what the damage was. I, as a creator of other mediums, can relate SO MUCH to those kind of moments and it makes me happy when people don't sugarcoat their work process. (It doesn't make me happy to see something go wrong, it makes me happy to see that you decided to show us that, even though you could've edited it out.) Sure it's satisfying to watch someone make something elegantly in one flowing motion from start to finish, but it's these videos that show us the mistakes (and how to handle them) that really feel human and genuinely leave you feeling good and satisfied. My respects to you. The final product is gorgeous!
Thank you for watching and leaving a comment, I am a lathe enthusiast, these are self-taught, no special training, so I will often make mistakes, in the latest video I rarely make mistakes anymore
Oops! Just trim this off real quick, and we shall never speak of this again! LoL! We’ve all been there! I’ve still got most of a mangled Osage Orange bowl hanging over my lathe. The darn thing tried to take my head off as it came out. I leave it there to remind me to triple check everything, slow down and focus on the task at hand. The mind kind of wanders and next thing you know you are picking yourself up off the floor. Great vid, nice project.
You are the first person to work on a lathe I’ve seen with the proper long sleeve shirt with elastic cuffs. I work on a metal cutting manual lathe, glad so see someone who takes safety seriously 7:05 nevermind. I take it all back 🤣😂🤣😂
So beautiful! omg, I'd love to have one of those lamps one day. I think that accident was a blessing in disguise tbh. When you poured the colours in I was like, "Noooo!" lmao Only because the indigo/violet-ish colour was supposed to be next to the blue... and then the purple-ish magenta at the end as it is closer to red. So without it, it makes looks like it was meant to be this way! Awesome job. So mesmerizing to watch!

Some cool thought process going on in this. Traditionally you'd just poor the colors in order in batches letting each cure. Like your thinking. You're going to be a pro in no time. Keep up the good work.

You should have bought a programmable LED strip and an Arduino (for eg. the mini version). Then program it so the LEDs are matching colors with resin and add breathe or slightly change color effects. +Maybe diffuse the colors by adding for eg. an acrylic diffuser for the next time as well, makes the effect more clean and premium :). Overall I am loving the concept and the finished look !!! Good job !
Its very clever that Mr Zhou made the mistake with the lamp to demonstrate how to rectify this issue if it ever happened whilst we were trying to make the lamp thank you Sir ;-)

Thank you very much for your advice.
I'm just amazed. All these guys are so good at this! I wondered about something coming off the lathe, that could be dangerous.
I love watching these videos.
no criticism whatsoever, that was amazing watching you make that , very very cool !
You got the talent, it's an amazing work , but be careful when you parting the workpiece, when it starts to wobble stop the machine and use handsaw to cut it off. Luckily it doesn't turn into a disaster or injuring you.
Thanks for the advice, I made a cheap mistake and will stop before using the saw again!
I like that you showed the accident, even if it must have been so frustrating for you! Beautiful piece!
Thank you for watching and commenting!
That was an awesome build. An even more impressive save after the scratches.
Imagine this as a real product, and I'll totally buy this
You are the first person to work on a lathe I’ve seen with the proper long sleeve shirt with elastic cuffs. I work on a metal cutting manual lathe, glad so see someone who takes safety seriously
7:05 nevermind. I take it all back 🤣😂🤣😂
Hahahahaha
I miss being able to use the lathe at my school. Such a relaxing hobby tbh.
Thanks for sharing this video. You have a great insight into blending color resin and wood. Wishing you a great week. Cheers.
Thank you for watching and I wish you good health
So beautiful! omg, I'd love to have one of those lamps one day. I think that accident was a blessing in disguise tbh. When you poured the colours in I was like, "Noooo!" lmao Only because the indigo/violet-ish colour was supposed to be next to the blue... and then the purple-ish magenta at the end as it is closer to red. So without it, it makes looks like it was meant to be this way! Awesome job. So mesmerizing to watch!
Thank you very much for watching and leaving your comments
I absolutely loved the end result. I wanted to cry for you when I saw what happened to your beautiful work. Truly wonderful. ❤

I love that the fail was kept in. Just “Mistakes were made, it’s fiiiine”
Great art and salute to your hardwork @ Trio Traveller
If you made a pink-purple-blue one and I was an adult, I would buy it without even thinking twice lol

Man, this is so beautiful. I love that you put light while working so we can see the colors. Thank you.

I felt so bad when I saw the accident. I’ll bet that happens more often than people would like to admit on here. ✌🏼
brilliant beautiful light! So gorgeous! So sorry it fell off and broke but glad you were able to save it!

I flinched when that thing tore itself off, be careful ok? Hate to see you get hurt in any way while you show your skills.

The slo-mo instant replay of the fumble was wrenching. Still a really beautiful piece. Would love to own it.
From watching so much of Bobby Duke I find comedy in crafting/art video's that aren't ment to be funny. Case and point, when ever you show how much shavings your covered in is just hilarious and I don't know why.
Thanks for watching
You dropped it but kept it in the video. That's what professionals do. Thank you and congratulations!
What a pretty night light, I want one ...
Beautiful resin lamp, another great piece of art.😀🏆 First Place, yes.

Nicely done! A bit sad about the purple part, but it still turned out very nice
That was violet.
@@protoborg Is that a joke? I can't really tell, and I hate that I can't.
@@NebulousKiwi Nope.
@@protoborg Purple and violet are the same ;-;
@@NebulousKiwi No they aren't. Humans cannot see violet. Only purple.
Beautiful artistry but sooooo much work!!

Thanks for watching
Thats amazing! Hes so talented. Makes me wanna learn how to do that.
Clever design and beautiful hues.

Some cool thought process going on in this. Traditionally you'd just poor the colors in order in batches letting each cure. Like your thinking. You're going to be a pro in no time. Keep up the good work.

Great work! You are an artist! Magic!

This is beautiful and so relaxing to watch. Such a shame about the Violet. Thank you for sharing.

So beautiful! I love how it turned out, I think it'd be amazing to see that kind of look at an angle along a teardrop shape. I just don't have any skill like that 😅
It's beautiful, keep up the good work (: Merry Christmas

Sure! (: it was awesome to watch, I just get these ideas without being able to do anything with 'em... ^^;
Mine had been all right, hope you had a good day
idea, realisation, quality: a wonderful object
You should have bought a programmable LED strip and an Arduino (for eg. the mini version). Then program it so the LEDs are matching colors with resin and add breathe or slightly change color effects.
+Maybe diffuse the colors by adding for eg. an acrylic diffuser for the next time as well, makes the effect more clean and premium :).
Overall I am loving the concept and the finished look !!!
Good job !
Thank you very much for your suggestions, I will improve these in future videos
Wow! Beautiful work.
Absolutely beautiful. I wish I had the tools and the know how to do stuff like this. Keep up the amazing work.
So cool!
Dude this is awsome I’m pretty sure your gonna have a big boom in views and likes soon
Its very clever that Mr Zhou made the mistake with the lamp to demonstrate how to rectify this issue if it ever happened whilst we were trying to make the lamp thank you Sir ;-)
Hahahahaha, failure case study
You can sell all of the shavings as packing for gift shops because of all of the pretty subtle colours.🎁

very interesting video. I'm a 60 year vet of the woodworking trade, so it was of great interest to me. But the music though, was absolutely mesmerizing. Wish I knew where I could get more of it!

old machinists trick for when you're parting something hollow put a small (smaller than the hole you can feed it down) drill in the tailstock chuck so that when it parts off it just falls onto the drill bit

That honestly hurt when the purple broke and the led are too bright.
It looks a little bright. But I have to say it is SO PRETTY. And most kids that want a night light like it to be bright anyway. Beautiful work.
