My cat is so fascinated by your videos. I've played 3 in a row on the tv, and he sat there, staring at it the whole time, with an attention he usually reserves for bird videos 😺
It looks like that bowl that every poker playing father would love. He would eat out of it, put his keys in it, or it would sit in the center console of his truck. He would tell these wildly made up stories about all the bowl was made, like they were playing poker on the beach and it got struck by lightning that melted the sand and cards into a bowl. What I'm trying to say is that looks awesome.
I feel like this would have been improved by making the cards more uniform, the king queen and ace that ended up framed out looked cool but it would have been nice to have that all around the outside of the bowl.
@@torb1trick415 Waiters at Olive Garden put parmesan on your food if you want it, and they tell you to tell them when to stop. I've never been there, but that's what I've been told.
I think it would've been neat to see you get a few dozen decks of cards, and then sort all of the decks such that you have multiples of each card. Then you can stack them and get an effect similar to what you had with the Ace of Spades. I think that would look cool!
These woodturning videos are like ASMR for me...methinks I should watch my dad when he does some woodturning projects he does. He's made pens, spinning tops, bowls, urns, Christmas ornaments, magic wands (like the ones you'd see in the Harry Potter films), and all sorts of things. I never would imagine anyone would do wood turning with random things encased in resin :)
a good artist can see completed projects before they're even started. Even watching your progress, i had no idea how this was gonna turn out .. turn out HEH HEH.
Another cool cards in resin idea would be to do a shallow initial resin pour, wait until it reaches that super stiff sticky jello phase, and stick a bunch of cards in at various angles (no wood in this one), then do another pour that captures the cards in place. I suspect it would be a cool way to play with depth.
I think you could’ve used a plastic bowl with release spray to easily remove it instead of all that wood being wasted. Otherwise this turned out looking good

Ovviamente faccio i miei complimenti all’artigiano che ha fatto questo lavoro. Sabrina 😃👍🏼👋🏼
My dream coffe table was going to be hot wheels submerged in resin, but seeing those resin prices... think I'll pass and just play with my hot wheels:)
I appreciate that even though the cards kinda got misshapen, you continued the project and displayed it proudly! your work was good, and I hope that you return to a similar project some day. I think this concept is amazing, and I'd love to see you give it another try, maybe a little selfishly cause I had really high hopes going in, and I was real sad that the cards got kinda warped by the resin
I started watching this just knowing it was going to be a train wreck...WRONG!!!! This project turned out INCREDIBLE!!!!! I love it!!!! GREAT WORK!!!!!
As a solid block for the center of the bowl. Resin is ridiculously expensive. Use a wooden plug to occupy that space, which is going to end up getting hollowed out anyway, during the resin pouring, curing, and turning process, rather than filling it with resin and having the bowl cost 6 times as much to make.
@@maimee2angel The wood used to make the plug is cheap, yet solid enough to hold the entire mass of resin, wood, and anything else during the turning process. Because wood is solid and strong, it will hold up to the turning process, especially when you're using screws to hold it to a metal plate which attaches to your lathe. Silicone, in some applications, could be used to occupy the space of more expensive resin, but when turning a bowl or similar object on a lathe, it isn't rigid enough, wouldn't stick to the inside of the bowl during the "outer side" turning process (imagine a silicone plug letting loose of your wood/resin bowl while it's spinning at 2000+ RPM.. remember, silicone is not supposed to stick to things), and actually is pretty darn expensive as well.
Да вообще ужасная поделка, осталась одна смола, да и карты хрен пойми как расположены, зачем-то красный и синий краситель ни к селу, ни к городу, короче говно
I'm in gaming, and that is GORGEOUS! Have you considered contacting casino's or card manufacturers to produce with their logo's? Same cards, just flip every deck to show logo on the bowl?
Could have cling wrapped the wood before the pouring of the resin. Once the resin is hard... Carve the outside, pull out the wood, then carve the inside.... Then polish all surface. The wood can be reused.
The biggest issue with this is that you can’t see most of the cards and some of them have very little left after you took off some of the resin (a red royal card on the left at 9:32). I think it would have been better to glue the cards to the wood then surround them with resin.
It looks pretty cool regardless but a quick question. Why did you choose to put the cards in the bowl in spaced out stacks instead of layering them to make a complete wall? I know it may have taken 2-3 decks instead of 1 to have an actual thickness to it but it looks a little odd with the big spaces of resin in between.
Seems like a waste of a block of wood ... Isn't there a way to make the bowl without using the wood? Like just fill the middle with resin then shave off the resin?

The fact that the Joker was the card that went sideways, is so appropriate.
