  • The Hellcat is a muscle car in every definable way. Under the hood is a 6.2L supercharged V8 that is pumping out now 717HP & mated to a ZF 8-speed automatic gearbox. The exterior lines are unmistakeable. Large twin air inlet hood and massive Brembo brakes are a couple of the things that make this Sublime Hellcat stand out. On the inside you will find tons of room and a retro style them that will take you back with new 21st century tech? Is this Dodge Challenger Hellcat the BEST buy for the most Muscle Car power?

    I tip my hat to American's.
    I live in Europe and every time I see a Challenger, a Charger , a Camaro or a Mustang, I can only smile.
    My goal is to own a muscle car some day.

    Great review as always Joe. Personally, I feel the wide body is a must for traction when it comes to a car with this much power. A 275 rear just doesn’t cut it with 717HP on tap. You really have to be paying attention when you’re driving this. Awesome car nonetheless.

    Yep, you are spot-on with your assessment of this late model power war that we are in. As it was Dodge that ignited it in 2015 and everyone went crazy, and set the bar at a whole nother level beyond anyting we would have believed possible for a production car. Those of us that got to experience the first era, thought that the days of high hp muscle cars were way long gone forever and would never return. Other than the Viper, we didn't get a muscle car for forever and had to wait for a very long time. I caught the last part of the era and got my first car in 81, which was a 68 Charger and have owned several hot classic Mopars since then. Anyway, so I am loving muscle car wars 2.0 and is awesome to be part of it. I'm in the process of getting some sticky Mickey 315s with new 17in racing wheels for my Challenger SRT8, and has been a lot of fun to build. I really like your new GT350 and am looking forward to some uploads of it my friend. Speaking of Ford, I really gotta give them credit here as well because they are the ones that brought back the fastback stang in '05 and inspired Chrysler to build the '08 SRT8s, and then GM followed in '10 with Camaro. Dodge has forced them to step up their game and have continued to squeeze more hp outta those supercharged 6.2 H-cat engines, just about every year since they started producing the beasts. So it's good for everyone all around, and should appreciate what we have got going

    Which FEELS quicker, this Hellcat, or a current gen Camaro ZL1 with a 10 speed? I have driven the ZL1, and drove a Hellcat, but with a 6 speed. 6 speed felt kind of unimpressive to me, probably due to the gearing. I bet the 8 speed auto feels quicker than the 6 speed. And I would guess that the ZL1 feels quicker, because it probably puts the power down better. But I'm wondering what your take is, which car felt quicker, auto vs. auto?

    • @nicolesmrekar2046
      @nicolesmrekar2046 3 года назад

      It'll be the Hellcat, it's not a ton, but it's still the better one if you're rolling on a highway, etc. Unless you're going from a dig at a strip that traction isn't a concern. At a track Zl1 is a very good car.
