Love Dan and Penelope’s slide out mattresses...very smart to stack 2 twin size and then just pull it out when it’s bedtime. I love these videos where you show a compilation of different van lifers smart ideas😀👍
One trick that can really open up floor space is installing ceiling mounted pulleys for drawing your mattress up into the roofline when it’s not in use. Then make the space under the mattress a seating area with a table & you’ll never notice the missing headroom. Built correctly the seating area becomes a solid foundation for lowering your clean & already made bed onto once it’s time for bed.
I'm strongly considering building a camper van/bus, and I'm torn on this.. I love happi jack raised beds, but also love having a large garage under bed.. Either way, I clearly don't want to breakdown and put together a bed daily.
@@zaynabmallory3008 IMO, the selling point (even above the space saving) is avoiding having dirt/sand tracked into the bed regularly. Just lowering a clean & made bed into place makes the evening SO much more relaxing when your done for the day.
These are genuinely interesting features, presented very well. What an excellent video. One tip for ventilating the mattress is to build the framework from 2x2 lumber and then cover it with heavy duty pegboard. The hundreds of holes keep the mattress thoroughly aired.
My two favorites was the hidden toilet and the sliding bed ideas. The mattress looks like it would be a pain sometimes, but worth it for the extra space you can utilize still
I really wish I’d have purchased a commercial van. I’ll admit that tearing out the interior of a passenger van scares me to death. Love these layouts. Still working on my no-build build (or minimal). Great ideas.
Great video. I like this approach of taking key elements from several different van builds and putting them into one video. Maybe not every time, but it's an informative and interesting approach that is nice for a change Would have liked to have heard more about beating the mold under the mattress issue. Always enjoy your videos. Please keep them coming :)
Can front seats be folded forward and the bed slid forward over them? Rear access doors. 'Vehicle monitored' sign installed in front cabin. Seats folded forward would make Vehicle look difficult to drive/ steal quickly. And cabin packed full.
It would be cool to see where there is toilet drawer in the shower wall. So you can have the full shower without the toilet in the way. But it is water proof where water doesn't get in between the cracks. I wonder if that's possible , definitely would be cool.
I wanted to know more about the actual items used under that mattress in the 4X4 van in Squamish. What is that product or products! That was a really cool idea!
@@VanClan Awesome news! Thank you so much for keeping me/us up to date with that! I'm extremely interesting as to what that product is. I'll be watching for the vid!
were working on an upcoming video to help with this. There are a bunch of different products you can buy. For now, just google prevent mold under my mattress in my sailboat!
Question for anyone who can answer- I’m building out a low top van, does putting the fan above the counter (but still centered in the middle) make much of a difference compared to having a fan in the back above the bed when it comes to the moisture while cooking? And would having one that close to a portable cooktop interfere with the flames? I feel like having one in the back would be ok but it would probably help to have a portable fan pointing towards the back a few feet away on the same counter top to push the steam towards it -thanks
We found that with the rooftop exhaust fan, the closer to the cooking source the better, for smells and moisture. For an optimal build, having two fans, one above the bed and one above the kitchen space is the best way to go for cooling on hot days, moisture, and smells. thanks for the comment.
I keep forgetting that a large portion of the country experiences humidity. That van out west would likely experience zero mold issues. But it’s still an important point and one that should be considered while making decisions on your build.
5:45 “we have our HOT water shower for outside of the van and our COLD water for spraying the dogs off.” How rude!! Use comfortable temp’ed water for pets too!!
The sliding window covers were amazing. I have never seen that before.
We agree, so smart
Loved the security of the sliding doors over the window. 😎👍
The rear entrance idea gives one so much more space to play with!
Agreed! Thanks for the comment.
I liked both ideas, too! That is a really beautifully finished out build.
Love the single to queen bed.
Its a great unique design, forsure. Thanks for the comment!
Heck, I just loved seeing a twin bed in a van, as that will be all I need!
That was my favorite part
Great ideas.. my fav was the security windows and also the sliding pull-out garage.
That security window idea is so smart right ??!
Traditional builds in several Stealth Campervans!! Nice compilation goombas!! Ciao
Glad you like it!

Great idea, we will be including a bed lift in an upcoming video.
The only downside to this would be the missing garage. That's why it's not an option for me :/
But still a great idea

All the builds are awesome.

I really like a real huge toilet, not a hidden one.

Propane water on the rearwheels is my best choise.
Water and Propane in the wheel sections
A great way to use up that awkward space. Thanks for the comment!
Amazing window. Love-love!!!

Absolutely love this! 🧡🇬🇧🧡

No sliding door is an interesting design element. It’s made you design in a way different from the rest of the herd.
👏👏👏
You should give the brand names of the products used in the videos
I would like to know what the device is called that prevents the mold from developing under the bed.

The moldy bed. What is the the item he has under the bed. I could not catch the name of it. I would like to get one fir bed in the RV.

Looks like what Canadians do during the winter time is to build vans 😂😂😂
What part?
The sliding out bed (#4) does also solve the mold problem

@@cwheremonster8870 yeah but I think that simple solutions like drilling holes into the bed or this sliding bed would also help a lot against mold :)
Is their any rv groups local to Vancouver bc, we have a 24' navion but would love to find some boondocking groups
