Our tiny home has TONS of unique storage ideas and we trust that these will help you save a lot of room when you build your own conversion. What was your favorite hack? Let us know below!
7:00 we love a king who gives credit and supports his queen and her ideas. It’s awesome how you guys work together and I am pretty sure I just got an entire NY studio tour, not a van 🚐 🤩
I LOVE the idea of having my bed be able to convert to a sofa because then if I want to leave it in bed mode all day, I still can. But I still have the option to have a sofa when I want. I know I'll probably keep it in bed mode a lot which is why I designed my van to allow for movement in the kitchen and rest of the van in either mode. I even designed it so I can sit at my desk when in bed mode. But if I want to have company over or just feel the separation of day and night mode, then I can switch back into sofa/living room mode. If you have a fixed bed, you have no choice. I like having options. But I recommend if you do this, then be sure you design the layout so that it does work for you even if you keep the sofa in bed mode all the time, just in case you prefer to keep it that way most days. You will need to have the bed at the back so your access to the cab isn't obstructed during bed mode for example. Also be sure to make your "sofa" cushions extra thick so they feel like a mattress for when you're keeping it in bed mode. You'll want to feel like you're in a great bed. I have a design that allows me to also pull across a mattress topper for extra padding when in bed mode but is stashed away in sofa mode. That also prevents visitors from sitting on my actual mattress that I sleep on and keeps it clean.
A big reason we have a fixed bed is to have our garage space under the bed for maximum storage. Everyone has different reasons for their designs. It all just depends on your lifestyle and/or preferences. Enjoy your van it sounds lovely.!
Keep on making your amazing videos! I live in a tiny apartment and am inspired by others who live in small spaces! You are both so likeable and I love your style! All the best in your ongoing adventures!!!!!
I'm currently saving for a van. Designing and deciding on the layout is a bumpy road. Your video has given me some great ideas and tips! Y'all got yourselves a new subscriber.
Great build! Can you tell me where you wash your clothes, where you store extra water and etc.? Can you also tell me your thoughts on which toilet and shower, refrigerator and power source is best? So excited I tumbled upon you guys:)
Great build! Friendly advice: for additional space saving: create every wall niche into a “Murphy Door” concept. For additional space saving, you could expand upon the “Murphy Door” concept and create a five door set up: Sliding door and then four collapsible doors around it - think of opening a box package - top door hollowed out to create drop down storage, bottom could also be utilized as a desk or in some instances a deck, and then two side doors - then on top of these you can create a pull down type screen to “hide” or “put away” stuff
@@hfortenberry sure: Think back porch sliding glass door The rest of the four of five door concepts is think of opening up a box package - all on top of the sliding door. :)
This is a really unique video. Loved it and I immediately started cracking up seeing the clothes in the pillows. You guys did a really awesome job on your build. Thanks for sharing 😊
Hi you two, it's England again! Sorry I've only just been able to watch this latest goodie. And what a goodie it was/is!! You must have given the video a heck of a load of thinking. It's great. I think the cushions using a slightly stronger material with marine-grade zips for clothes storage and compressor bags too is a fabulous idea - not forgetting the shoes storage on the rear doors, neatly tying in with the garage layout. Perfect. I loved the shelf/tray under the galley window behind the worktop excellent and one to consider, with the lip. I could go on for ages! Thank you for the film and as always you two were very amusing. Great ideas, put together brilliantly and the cast of course quite splendid! The views were fabulous! Just take care, you two. Pam
Sorry we do not have a video for that. Just simply mount your lids using three screw into the underside of your cabinet. Then screw on the jar into the lid. Done!
You guys are awesome! I love the outdoors and usually go camping every summer. But with your youtube channel it feels like i can go on all these cool adventures with you! Keep the great content coming. Subbed!
Great tips and videos you put out. Thank you! Question on the cabinets... you fit alot of compressions bags in there and I have alot of clothes. Would you mind sharing the dimensions of the bedroom and kitchen ones please? Thank you in advance. Melissa
I love it!!! I especially love the vanity! I dont wear makeup, but I do my hair, ect.... so great tips on saving space and still beautiful!!! Thank you for sharing! See you on the next one! Stay safe and well! Much love to yas!!!😃❤👍
We would LOVE some there too. I think in a future build we would think about adding those in too. It would add in a lot more light and be great to enjoy the outdoors in bed. Thanks for watching Gerry :)
Love the built in jewellery nook and vanity. My van is not a standard in any way and its really hard to figure out how to organise (it's an 1992 f250 ex ambulance in oz- also not the box type of ambulance seen a lot in America, so it's fibre glass Nd not as built as others
Your information has always been so helpful! I am working on my home-on-wheels now. I would love a video of your couch/table conversion and dimensions as I have researched so much and not been able to find any help on good sizing and measurements for this. I want a couch for my dogs but need a workspace and also want it to convert to a guest bed for visitors, The layout I have come up with is a little bit different since I couldnt find this specific layout but would love the details!
I watch a ton of these and I always come back to yours. Definitely my favourite design! My struggle is I have a 1995 RoadTrek campervan and I'm not sure how to implement your clever built-ins and other designs when I'm starting with an existing build. And I know gutting it completely is well above my pay grade lol Ah well, I can dream, one day 🥰🚙🇨🇦
Thanks Michelle! We've seen a few people take existing campers and just slightly shift the design without a big budget but I think it takes a lot of ingenuity and patience. I think purchasing a few things that just make storage easier inside pre-built spaces could work - like how to stack dishes easier with items from IKEA, putting drawer inserts inside drawers for more space, compression bags, hanging items, installing a clothesline, and things like that could be inexpensive. I wish we could help more with ideas
LOVE this stuff. You kids ... sorry, no ageism here, everybody is younger than me 🤣 ... nailed it and I was tickled to see your ideas. These are the kind of things that really speak to me, and I'm glad YOUR creativity spurred mine. Looking forward to seeing more❣ P.S. Aw thank you :) We think about going back here all the time. We will definitely be back next summer for some more hiking. Out of the 50 states, this is one of our top 5 places we visited. Have fun and thanks for watching!
You needed to create all those extra cubbies cause you guys have a lot of stuff. Personally, I enjoy paring down to the bare minimum. I find the extra stuff I used to bring I never use. To each is own.
Awesome build! Really well done. How about the weight of the van after the build? Were you able to stay within the max weight allowance or did you need to change anything? And how about the weight after you are fully loaded? (PARTICULARLY with all them shoes😜)
Our weight after the build was 1,000lbs less than the legal limit. I added air lifters on the rear suspension to help support the weight. Hope this helps.
Great video guys. I’ve watched a lot of these van storage ones and really enjoyed yours. I take delivery of our brand new van in 2 weeks so I’m getting excited!! Keep up the great work, I’m gonna checkout more of your content…
Sadly, using a hair dryer in a van is not really possible UNLESS you are plugged in. It pulls A LOT of electricity. A curling iron or flat iron is fine though. Explorist.Life has great FREE resources on his blog with a power calculator to see what kind of inverter/batteries/etc need to use everything you want. Our vitamix pulls A LOT and even with that we need to upgrade to a 3000watt inverter. Things start to add up and we are always checking that we won't pull too much IF we've been in grey weather for too long. Hope this helps!
Ok, I do apologize for my third attempt at sending this.🤣 Please share your suggestions regarding which shower, toilet, refrigerator, power source, stove, and where it’s best to store large items such as cases of water, and also, where do you wash your clothes?? Thank you!

Hi Ginger, thanks for watching and showing your support. We had the cushions custom made by a local company in town called The Needle and I.

Before you place the table into “couch mode” you first need to detach from the Lagun Table Mount under the table.
Does that help?
