Even regular paper towels that come off the 4egular size... I often reuse each paper towel. I've just washed my hands with soap and water, dry them and leave the towel on counter or table. It dries very quick so next time I wash my hands ,I use the same towel ,again, maybe even a third time. Or after using it once or twice,I might need it to dry up some lil mess. I reuse towels often
I have used an old fashioned hat pin to keep the paper towel roll from unraveling. Just jab it into the end of the paper towels. They don't go anywhere.

Magnets on the wall to get phones out of the way. Excellent idea. I’m going to try it with my magsafe iPhone. Magnets are already on the phone! Thanks for the idea.
If your phone already has a magnet, just glue or Velcro a metal plate on the wall to stick it to. If you use a magnet on the wall with the wrong polarity, it will repel the phone and nobody wants that. :) Jon in rural BC, Canada

Its those small things like feral cords, possessed paper towels and your fridge lid flopping down on you that wear you down. They don’t bother you on day 1, or day 31. But by day 101, OH MY FRIKKIN GOD! 🤯🤬😖 Those were some simple, non complicated fixes, that got the job done.
This is the first video I have seen that addresses the issue of needing to get into the garage space while it is raining. Now that you mention this that should be a consideration when designing the garage/electrical system so the batteries, charge controller and stuff stored back there aren’t getting wet every time the rear doors are opened when it’s raining.
Yeah ours are far enough inside that we don’t have that problem but definitely something to consider when designing a van build for sure! Thanks for the comment!
For the paper towel problem, I use Viva brand. It appears to cost a little more but it’s a higher quality paper and packed tight. With it being packed as tight as it is, it doesn’t unroll and it seems to last forever. It also gives you select-a-size and I find that with the good quality weave I often only need the half piece anyway. Thanks for the video.
Thanks Momma G! Yes, the tightly wrapped ones really work better in this situation! We've realized that as well. Unfortunately we can't always find them, so this thing really helps! Thanks for the comment!!

Yes it does! And we just had an experience 3 days ago where it was it was evening, but still quite light out - we were in a parking lot with no signs whatsoever about parking or no parking, but a security guard was repeatedly making his rounds, and we saw him drive around us several times (we were looking out our tinted windows which he couldn't see in). He was very close, checking out our van. But every time, he kept driving and we never got the knock; we stayed all night and got good sleep.
Pegs are so handy. I also use them for keeping food packets sealed, along with rubber bands. Nice to finally see someone has the sense to have fridge raised & accessible. I prefer these van life shows when they're realistic, not perfect, so I'm subscribing 😁 Greetings from Australia 🇦🇺
First time to see your channel... I love it... I am going to do the van life in 2 years when I retire... But I think some of these ideas could be used anywhere in a house or anywhere and they are genius thank you
Hi John, I think you're referring to these closet door hanger organizers? You can see more about them here: ruclips.net/video/YbMCfsNONyc/видео.html And we also link to them in the description of that video.
Hello from Dallas. Never forget... Every single task that you illustrated can be done smarter, faster and better. - Even after I come up with some hack. I always remark... That hack is great; but now... how can I now make it work smarter, faster and better? I learned this from the Japanese "Kaizen" - it means "Continuous Improvement." Original hacks fade away into the new way.
@@TimAndShannonLTD I just brought home a fridge/freezer just like that, not even unboxed yet. I love your door open clip, but if the fridge was further away from the wall, wouldn't the door lean against the wall and not fall shut? For paper towels and toilet paper, I squeeze them flat, then flat the other way, then make them round again. It unrolls slowly, not puddle on the floor. To keep the wind off, I probably would have put a little plexiglass or other small wall to keep the door breeze away. :) These are Real van hacks, not just pretty boxes and lipstick solutions. I subscribed after watching only this video. Well done. I hope my no-build minivan camper works half as well. Jon in rural BC, Canada

Great tips, I was hoping to use the drawer tip, but there is an oven on one side of our drawers and camper exterior wall on the other side, right now I am using bungee cords. I squat my toilet tissue paper into an elongated hole, the same thing for my paper towels and that keeps them from rolling when we go over bumps. I’m m just getting ready to watch your video again in case I missed something.

Thank you Tom! And 2 years later, it's still working!
Or just put a magnetic strip on the wall
This brought the idea of a retractable clothes line and child locks for cabinets which are very simple ideas.
Yes, good ideas! We never thought about child proof locks until long after this but that would have worked too! 🙂
If you can't access the sides of your drawers to lock them, you can screw a hook beside it and it will lock from the front.
