This was the review that made me purchase Le Lion, I had planned my next Les Exclusifs to be 'Sycamore'. I've been a perfume lover my entire life but the last year I've just gone mad, buying one every couple of months and I think this is tied into the fact that two years ago I was diagnosed with a muscle-wasting disease, inherited from my Dad who didn’t know he had it himself until 2019, and, unfortunately, it’s progressing very quickly with me. I’ve had to give up work, now use a cane, need help standing, can only walk very short distances and suffer incredible fatigue. I think it’s because I’m changing very quickly and therefore so is my identify; it’s out of flux at the moment. I don’t know my own body anymore and I think I’m beginning to form my identity as a disabled person. Sorry for the essay, darling but anyway, what I wanted to add is that your channel has been such a help to me when choosing my perfumes but has made me start writing my book again - I write about movies part-time. Your passion is such an inspiration and I just wanted to thank you, my love. I'll be joining your Patreon. xx Oh, I forgot the point of this post was to talk about Le Lion and all I can say right now is WOW! It's amazing! xx

Dear Dacob , I got a sample of this perfume one week back and at the beginning I did not like it . Now I feel it has stolen my heart forever . Wow! My SA first sprayed me a card, then I bought a 5ml decant, then I bought the bottle. I am so so in love. After a year of Baccarat I finally switched to something else and I am happy! I love how you put my thought about into words.

I just subscribe to your channel. I have sample of Chanel le lion and at first I didn’t enjoy but after 3 days later I’m real enjoy on my skin and in air .

Fantastic review! Late to the party, I just got my nose on Le Lion. The 4 fragrances it reminds me of are Shalimar, Coromandel, Bois des iles and Serge Lutens Fumerie Turque (notably the Aldehyde C-12(which is smoke), and a hint of tobacco. Neither are listed in the notes but I pick them up clear as day).
Looking forward to comparing it to 31 Rue and no° 22!

I wore it today to attend a small birthday party. 🎂My friends noticed it right away, asked me which Guerlain’s or Reminiscence’s perfume I had purchased and if I had just applied it a few minutes before arriving (in fact, I had just sprayed it behind both ears in the early morning 4 hours prior)...they said this type of fragrance is so unlike me (I mostly wear sweet musky/ citrusy light colognes such as Fresh Hesperides), the patchouli’s 🌿facet is too overwhelming (entêtant) and they couldn’t get the citrusy notes🍊🍋 at all!? They were also shocked when I said it was a Chanel perfume and said it doesn’t smell Chanel at all to them !?
We are 19 hours later now, I am on my bed now after a long shower 🛁and I can still smell it on myself ... almost have a headache 🤕 it feels like I had drunk a very strong 🍹 🥃cocktail! But now it turns out to be more similar to Alain Delon’s Lyra (I don’t know if you have ever tried it) than Guerlain ... Now I can 100% get what Dacob meant by olfactive protective armour.... ⛑🪖I have the sneaky suspicion the samples I scored are gonna last forever...
Your friends would notice the CHANEL nature of Le Lion if they wore it themselves for a a couple hours and for a few days. It can easily be deceptive at first sniff but upon deeper sniffing, one smells out that Le Lion is unequivocally a CHANEL.

I got a sample of this gorgeous perfume and look I love your review. Now I’m not sure if this is sacrilege to admit to this but I sprayed this with my Chanel 22, and my goodness it is brilliant. I hope this is an alright way to enjoy this fragrance.

Dacob, I just passed by my local Chanel Beauty Boutique and ended up trying out Le Lion for the first time. It's a BOMB! I really liked it, it's very powerful and deep and reminded me a lot of Shalimar. I'm not so sure if I'll buy it yet, and if I decide to do it, it will certainly be the 75ml bottle (which I still believe it will last forever due to it’s intensity.
Also, my sales assistant asked me if I'm aware of the releases celebrating the centenary of No 5. I said yes and recommended her to watch your recent video talking about it, so she can know exactly how I'm feeling about it. LOL. 😉
I just enjoyed your review. My signature fragrance for many years has been Chanel Egoiste Cologne Concentree. I just ordered a sample of Le Lion de Chanel. Any thoughts as to a comparison of the two fragrances. Thank you, Ken

If Coromandel and Chanel No.5 had a baby it would LDC. I also like to say it is very similar to Historie De Parfums 1740 which I own. They did a good job with longevity and projection it’s a monster!!!!!
When I first sprayed this in the boutique, ALL I could smell was sharp smokey incense, literally for the whole day, I got no sweetness, no amber, no citrus. But I got a 1.5ml to take home and I tried again, I got still smokey incense throughout the whole fragrance, with amber and vanilla appearing 30-45 min and staying throughout, maybe some leather too. I hope to start picking up the citrus in the opening
I live in Newport and I'm very lucky! I live 1/2 mile from the Chanel boutique with all the exclusive Chanel perfumes!! I received a sample from Bloomingdales of Le Lion de Chanel. I'm not quite sure if I would wear this. It reminds me of licorice! I purchased Chanel pure perfume last month. I wear this because it reminds me of my mother. I LOVE your videos!!
I was in the boutique this weekend and just saw the name of the scent, smelled the bottle, and got a sample. I think this is going to be my first Chanel fragrance.

I will definitely try Le Lion but will probably hold off the purchase if the similarity to Shalimar turns out to be too obvious to ignore. I love the Les Exclusifs.

This was a blind buy for me online on Black Friday. Given the reviews, I was a bit nervous. I am blown away at how much I love this scent. It's completely addicting - from the first spray to smelling it the next day on your clothes. Don't worry it's loud, it is saying something worth listening to.

Hello Dear Dacob, I have taken some time off RUclips and social media. Now back to watch my Chanel GURU. Yes, you read it right. You are truly a GURU with capital letters. There is NOONE who would better translate what's inside the bottle. Your depiction of all the scent creations is transcendent. I missed seeing you and your videos tremendously. I did try Le Lion in 2020 so, there we go (I am writing from the future). It is still odd similarly to 2020 with the pandemic and all but I think it is time to revisit Le Lion as it has been sitting hidden in the dark. Le Lion reminds me of sitting on the cusp of two different realities, the past and the present, danger and comfort. It's complete juxtapose that I cannot indulge myself in fully, but at the same time, I can't help but reach out for it occasionally. Once reformulation kicks in, the original(first) Le Lion will have a whole different meaning and then we're all going to love it as it will be impossible to find. Big warm hugs, Anna , the leo ;)

Does Le Lion share any resemblance to Cuir de Russie ?
To me it does not. Some might think the leather note is similar but CUIR DE RUSSIE is more floral heavy.
OMG, yes! I'm a (vintage) No. 22 parfum lover and Le Lion is my new thing. That incense hits me just where I need it.

This one should not be blind purchased though. It is very particular so try it on first (if you haven't already) before making the choice to purchase it and bare in mind the price increase which is coming in 2021 and will hit the les exclsuifs range.

ive been wearing le lion for the past month. personally i like it but le lion to the untrained nose it smells generic and outdated niche perfume. unfortunately this one will not get you any compliments
Well said hamad! One definitely needs to train the nose a bit in order to sniff out the nuances and depth in this one.

My sister work at Chanel and practically i don't need buy any Chanel because she always brings me samples. I have over 300 samples of Chanels, from the exclusives line to their other lines. I'm set with Chanel.

Now that I think about it, LE LION DE CHANEL does not seem like a perfume I would want to buy, to be honest. It is too expensive anyway
CHANEL with their eyes set on the Asian market... give me a break. I guess the brand sees all the nouveau riche dudes out there as an easy target. I am telling you, they are gonna wake up from their "consume, consume, consume!" slumber one day. What's CHANEL going to do after that? I am sure we'll be there to behold the bubble burst.
I ain't bashing the juice itself, it is just that the priorities the CHANEL brand has are nasty. Sorry Coco

Thank you Robert dear! I totally understand what you mean. Its not easy at the moment. I think it is not easy for any brands, including the luxury brands. As much as they wish to hide their struggles and problems, these problems are still there and these brands are currently selling much less than they used to sell in the near past. This will be an ongoing issue with repercussions in the future and the resolution to the problems is not straight ahead. It will take much time and effort and also honesty, if they wish to solve the problems in the future. We shall watch how it all develops. I am very curious. haha.
