I usually go to Chanel and Lancôme perfumes but when I wear Cabotine I get the most compliments.

OK, I did NOT think that I was going to sit here and listen to you talk about ONE perfume for 45 mins. BUT THIS WAS THE BEST SHIT I'VE WATCHED ALL DAY! And I wanna know HOW. lmaooo. You were so fulfilling and descriptive. This review lacked nothing and was 45 mins of WORTH IT!

I was introduced to this in college and kept it in my collection. Every time I spray it, it takes me back to 1999.
Now I really want this because I like unusual perfumes. I’m so sick of these sweet ones produced in the masses lately with nothing outstanding setting them aside!
I love you so hard for reviewing this perfume. 🌿💕 I had this in the early 90's and I can still remember the smell. Wish I still had that bottle.

I’ve been in love with this perfume since I was a teen! While all the high school girls were wearing the basic strawberry or warm vanilla sugar, I was making a statement with this scent. Cabotine de GRÈS not only smells higher quality but it lasts all day, plus some! Everything about this perfume for me is a hit! Along with the look of the bottle, the price point for this size is great! Thank you for this review, I never new the history of Cabotine. Now I’m off to go down a fashion rabbit hole 😂
The cap reminds me of the bathing caps people wore back then 😄. The first time i sniffed it i was almost shocked because it starts so harsh and green, but shortly after i started to love it 😍. It is unique and very classic and elegant. Definitely happy to have it in my collection now. Thank you Dacob and Edu VonGomes!
Love Cabotine! Had it in the 90s and recently bought a bottle and could NOT believe the drop in price! It used to be called a "heavy green" in the 90s... but your review is Tres Fabulous! Hi Dacob. I like your reviews. You explain fragrances so well. I have a large bottle of Cabotine de Gres, but it is not vintage; and I am planning to buy a vintage bottle where the color of the liquid had a chance to get stronger. I have a large collection, and today I organized the bottles so it will be easier to find the fragrance when I want to spray it. Take Care. 😊
One of my favorites since 1990 , thirty years I can't believe how fast the time went. The dry down is incredible!

Oh I couldn't agree more! The dry down on this is otherworldly it is what Dior was going for when they created Tendre Poison IMO. .. I find that the dry down with Cabotine set the mark TP was aiming for... Cab launched first lets rem...
You’re soo right also when you say it’s wet! But it’s dry!?? Ha this perfume is so contradictory! For me? It’s like I’m laying in grass and everything is ripe and then there was a sudden rain shower very quick and now it’s all drying again and wow the scents of it all! Love!💕 time to get a new bottle!
I just found one, while watching your video! I remember my mom wearing this perfume, she loved it. Aldehydic, green, fresh and floral, with little dirty animalistic, nature elements, with some spice and fruity touch. Just character. Preparing myself to revive loving memories. My husband says it smells grassy. I get a lot of the violet and rose. I have a bottle from the early 2000s.

Loved your exquisite review! I also appreciated your Star Trek connection, with Cabotine as a “synthetic memory of Planet Earth “that an Ambassador might wear. Captain Janeway from Voyager would wear this! 👍💐 I love the bottle top! To me it always looked like a small bouquet of green flowers. 🍀

I love this perfume but I stopped using it just because of civet note but u solve my problem to informn that In New formulation not using civet anymore thanx a lot
I Love Love love this scent…I has a trailing lingering scent,in the sense that once you leave the room the scent remains for at least 3-5 minutes….I like to spray a little on the tips of my skirt so I can see people search for where the scent is coming from as I walk by 😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤New Subscriber
I knew this gres but the OG and at that moment I was so young it was to me sooooooooooo green, sooooo present that it gave me headache but it was I was sooooooooooo young too about 17 or 18 .but now I appreciate more and more green fragrance... I think I will buy it pretty soon
To me, it has always smelled more like the stems than flowers - a watery fresh green scent. I don't typically enjoy very floral scents, so I enjoy this take a lot.
I've loved it since I first smelled it, but can't wear it (because of who I associate it with). It's crazy that it's so inexpensive now - that person is probably pissed, ha!
It's very feminine without being too precious or girly. It's really gorgeous.

Wow, I checked it on the internet and it is damn cheap! I am sure I will get it someday (spent all the money on fahrenheit edt and dior homme intense + original dior homme, not the silver stopper tho'). I love the green that they used here, the smell is wonderful, I am sure!

Yes, Cabotine is a very cheap cheapie these days but don't get fooled by the price. The cheap price does not mean in this case a cheap smell ;)

Lalique is the best thing that could have happened to Gres. The consensus online is that their reformulation of Cabochard is the best one in decades... Lalique seems to be one of the few brands that actually care.

@@SuperDacob I would suggest you get the EdP, it's fuller and rounder (or just get both, they are so cheap).
Current Cabochard is way better than it's price tag. A lot of niche pretenders do not perform as good as it does.
One of my favorite scents in the entire world, when I first smelled it I knew I would make it my signature scent for the rest of my life but turns out it doesn't play well with my skin. I'm still so heartbroken over it but I will keep trying it in hopes one day it will click and if not I'll always keep a bottle around. My bottle was from 2016 and it said Art & Fragrance Services under the box. Maybe Lalique has slightly tweaked the formula since? I must try it again.

Yes, Lalique has tweaked the formula and it is smoother now so I would give it another try if you get the chance. Many people are referring to Lalique as giving a respectable reformulation to GRÈS perfumes.
I would suggest changing the diet. I have found I smell better and perfumes project off my skin wonderfully when I became vegetarian and more so eating raw.
I saw the first three letters Cab and thought the top looks like cabbage. I mean ick for a fragrance image lol
Definitely now a favourite perfume of mine. I rather like the bottle, even the lid. It reminds me of one of those flower hats which women used to wear in the 1950s, the sort the Queen Mother used to favour. Possibly nothing to do with Madame Gres, but certainly fun!
I looked on the internet for book I have found dedicated to Gres. MADAME GRES: SPHINX OF FASHION by Patricia Mears. Another by Richard Martin and another by Olivier Saillard. Out of print, it seems, but can be sourced second hand, I should think.

Good to ear you about Cabotine, the little smiling cheapie. The bottle with three flowers was the original dab bottle for the Eau de Parfum. Now both EDP and EDT are available in the original EDT spray. I bought it for my mother in the early 90es...
And I am impatient to know your opinion about good old bitchy Cabochard.

I just blind purchased Cabotine...I like it but don't love it...I don't want to trash it..Any recommendations on scents to layer it with ? I need it a little sweeter...I love earthy sweet ambery oud bergamot scents..lol

I've tried both side by side, but the Tendre Poison was pure parfume and the Cabotine was EDP, and there is definitely a difference in notes. I don't really get the comparison other than they are both "green".

It's a complicated perfume, not comfortable at all....i definitely get animalic notes as well a buttery biscuit sensation ... cinnamon and zinger.
Have you tried Cabotine Rose? if so what are your thoughts?
I have a bottle. Not a big fan of its cherry blossom for me. Smells a bit too acidy on my skin.
