this was my favorite guide for my favorite class back in original Cata, and now it feels so great to be able to come back to it for Classic
Aliena, Lore, Darksend, Ciderhelm, and the whole team over at Tankspot, were incredible for the WoW Community. These truly were the glory days.

Thanks for the information! I was unable to play for the first month and a half of Cataclysm launch and just recently began able to play last week. This helped me catch up everything I missed out on about priests!

Thanks for this video, Aliena. I've been a disc priest so long I wasn't really "up to speed" on the holy priests at this point, and this will help a lot. I hadn't even done the math yet, which is somewhat embarassing...
Since we're doing more and more 25-man-raids atm, I've been asked to go holy several times, but I just couldn't seem to "get going" the same way I could with disc - and this video made me realize why :P
@MrLuzifor It's not a 'soft cap'. It gives renew an additional tick. I don't use Renew much at all. I don't have mana issues. I gem for mastery, I gear for mastery and haste. Additional haste is always more throughput, a soft cap is tiers away.
It's a rough attainable guideline for the first tier, but more is never gonna hurt. :)
I was soooo hoping you would make an updated Priest guide. The ones you made on Holy & Disc in Wrath really, really helped me out a lot when I started raiding with my priest.
Obviously someone in your position is very kind to publish ANY guide (which I'm sure we are all thankful for) but..... if you make another Disc priest guide I'll totally buy you a puppy! :P ...probably ...well, maybe.... ok probably not but you'll never know if you don't make one!

@ExiitNsX Penance is in the discipline tree, you must select discipline as your default talent tree in order to have penance.

Thanks very much =) I immediatly started leveling and gearing my hunter in cataclysm and my little priest is still level 80 so I literally have no idea how best to play a priest anymore this will really help when I find the time to level her
@RFXCGZZ This was made after Cata released - at which point it was a terrible, terrible spell. They about halfed the mana cost and buffed it since, so now it is usable again (as the annotation says).

@MrLuzifor Haste isn't added up like you said, it is actually multiplied (7.55% * 1.03 * 1.05 = 16.315% haste)

I sort of missed the high paced healing of wrath though. I know renew spam got boring for some but for some reason I always liked it. Atleast crazy saves with LoF , Lightwell being awsome, and the cool new holy words made up for it.

Awesome guide... Do have one question though, so I have been using Heal Chakra state for 10 man raids and it seems to work alright, but what should I be using in the 25 man raids? I usually am assigned to healing a tank

Thanks Mandy for the Holy Priest guide. Are you planning on a Disc Priest guide sometime? I ask this because I do enjoy playing Disc priest for healing, certainly Holy is the best for raiding.
Thanks for nice guide Aliena! Anyway i got a question, why do you take 3 points in Darkness (tier 1 shadow) when the "soft cap" on hast is 12,5% - atm you got 7,55% and haste in your spec, + 3% from talents = 10,55% + 5% faste from totem or boomkin in a raid?
Holy priest is just amazing. Like you said, no other class has some of the skills a holy priest has. Prayer of Healing can be compared to Wild Growth, except Wild Growth is a Hot and PoH is a direct heal.
I like how you subtily showed off every rare pet you have.
@Saonserey How do you feel about the incoming changes to the healing classes in respect to the balance? And What would you say in the most usable situation for r-druids, 10/25 raid/tank etc..?
@Saonserey Hey i wanted to know your views on Chakra since it came out. What do you think of it when pre cata came out and now and in 4.1 i mean they changed it so much. I prefered it when it was 30/30 with original state of mind but i think they should of combined the 1min duration but kept state of mind the same. I like the idea of it being forever (with the stance) but it doesn't have that Holy priest feeling anymore.
@guitar20063 pause at 13:30 for the current tree :) She might have updated it though, and I find that blessed resilience is good for pvp-like situations, but not for raids... it is not beneficial in raids I find, although I might be wrong.

Tip for fights like Atramedes, if you use Inner Will and run around shielding people with AoE chakra renews, it makes it a breeze.
i'm curious if it would be possible to have your other healers do a similar guide for how they heal? I think it would be interesting to see :) IE shaman, paladin, druid overview.

I find it interesting how i play my priest completely different to you and look for different stats but it still seems viable. I use inner will, stack spirit/mastery followed by haste and int if i they are my only options. I generally use all my spells in raids but throw in a lot of renews and flash heal rather then greater heals. Im just hoping this strategy will be as viable for 25mans as it is for 10mans as i am yet to try 25man.
@noodwow Yes, really, these are commonly used.

@Debil7496 She made this video before Renew got buffed, it has since gotten better healing and way lower mana costs.
@Debil7496 Can you keep everyone alive using only Renew? Also, of course its harder to go OOM when you get better gear and stuff, as all spells have fixed mana costs instead of scaling with total mana pool.
