I was 5 years old and visiting a friend. He turned on the tv and then aboslitely blew my mind. He was controlling a little red man while catchy music played.
It was Super Mario Bros on the NES.
I've been hooked ever since!
Dofus was the first game that truly captivated me because of its rich lore, diverse landscapes, and variety of monsters. The game’s intricate backstory and well-developed world drew me in, making the universe feel alive and immersive. Each region in Dofus had its own unique charm, from the lush forests and snowy mountains to the eerie swamps and bustling towns, creating a sense of endless exploration.
Very very good memories with this game.
First game to truly hook me was Sim City 2000, little me was obsessed with how all the parts of a city fit together and making them work to make a city of skyscrapers and archeologies. Honorable mentions to C&C, Civilization 2, Warcraft/Starcraft, and Privateer 2 which came not long after.
First game that really hooked me was Pokemon Silver waaaay back, the concept of running around in this world and building your collection of all kinds of monsters got me instantly!
The first game I got hooked on was Halo for the Xbox. I still remember telling all my friends at school about how amazing it was. The gameplay and the graphics were the most incredible things I had experienced in gaming up to that point and it blew my mind.
One of the first games I've played in school with friends was called 'S4 League', probably not very well known. It was a 3rd person Shooter, with the usual game modes of CTF, TDM.
First game I was ever HOOKED on HOOKED on was Command and Conquer and the rest was history.
However, the 2 I most fondly look back on are WoW and BF2142.

The very first game I ever played was the first halo on the original Xbox, and I just fell in love with it. I would never stop talking about it, and it's still one of my favorite games! I only got it because my dad found an old broken Xbox and fixed it up, and so he gave it to me. Ever since then, I've loved everything about space, and I've been hooked to space for my whole life now!
First game I was hooked on was Star Wars Galaxies. Spent time every day on that game, from the first day to the last. Made a ton of friends, celebrated my 21st birthday with a party on my Sorosuub yacht (live music included over Teamspeak), and even went to a Jedi wedding. No game has matched that energy since, but SC is getting close to it.
First game I ever got hooked on was Starcraft, my dad brought it home from work one day and the rest is history, that was our game.
Back in 2003, Prince of Persia Sands of Time was my very first videogame which got me hooked into gaming. I was just a teen and my dad had a serious accident in another country, mom was there with him for a while, and I had to take care of my now late sister. We read a videogame magazine, Joystick it was named, and they made a dithyrambic article about this game, which sounded magical. So we bought the game and shared it, playing these dream like levels, honing skills on acrobatic puzzles and enjoying the smooth combat choregraphies. It was the experience of a lifetime. I was hooked.

The first game I ever got hooked on was one I grabbed out of a cereal box: RollerCoaster Tycoon. It captured my young imagination. The visual design was very charming, at once detailed and whimsical. It was also fun as hell and just perfectly designed in every way. It was incredibly advanced for its time and still holds up today.
As an adult, I find myself equally captivated by Star Citizen. Just like RollerCoaster Tycoon did back then, Star Citizen intrigues my imagination. The level of detail and immersion is astonishing, taking me to a universe full of possibilities and adventures. It's a testament to how far gaming has come, yet the essence remains the same: games that capture our imagination and provide endless fun.

The very first video game I got hooked onto was “The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.” The game’s expansive world, compelling storyline, and the sense of adventure and discovery captivated me. The intricate puzzles, engaging characters, and the ability to freely explore Hyrule kept me enthralled for hours. Its blend of action, exploration, and storytelling set a high bar for what I came to expect from video games.

It's really really long ago that I started playing video games. Must have been in the mid 1980s, with those 8-bit home computers. My dad bought a Z80 based computer called the Amstrad CPC 464. While he used it for spreadsheets I liked to play games on it. One of the games I remember playing a lot was called 'Spindizzy'.
Super Mario Brothers was the first game I ever put my little fingers on. It is still a masterclass in game design and mechanics. How could I not get hooked instantly?

AAhh good question there mate and gratz on the subs.. But first, a quick comment for your boy, Thanks little man for helping your dad with his video, it was a great introduction there, can't wait for my grandson to be old enough to help.
1st video game that I got hooked on, and why.... Would have to be M.U.L.E. on the commodore 64 with tape drive connected. A mate and I spent a weekend at about 11 or 12yrs old typing it into the C64 and saving it, then we played it for probably the next 3mths over weekends and friday nights after school...Good Times, Good memories, but I'm glad I don't have to do that anymore.
I didn't have any one game that hooked me into gaming.
The first time I saw a video game it was Space Invaders on a big arcade machine. I was just a spectator in a horde of kids, but I was fascinated. Then came the Vic20 and I spent quite a few hours playing a game on that called Omega Race - the sort of blips on the screen that got faster and faster until it was game over that were so prolific in those days. When I eventually reached the point of being able to buy my own gaming PC I got WarCraft 2 and Master of Magic with it, plus a couple of demo levels from MechWarrior 2. Those were the ones that _really_ cemented my gaming hobby.

My first game I played was Age of Empires 1. My Dad got me the game when we got our first PC and I just got hooked.
I remember being big into Mechwarrior 2 way back in the windows 3.11 days. I loved the cockpit experience and the (for the time) excellent graphics and open worlds. Playing it again recently and its amazing how far we have come. i don't know if folks appreciate it as much, who weren't around playing PC games in the 90s. In the last 10 years the progress has been steady, but harder to spot, more subtle. The difference from the early 90s till like 2010 was very dramatic.
My first videogame was Minecraft, I used to play it at a friends place when I was 12 there just was something about the endless world and all tje things to explore, although I have grown out of it unfortunantely. Congrats on 5k subscribers by the way, your videos are great.Keep it up :)

My first game I got hooked on was pokemon blue,.The collection for have the 150(1) in a first time! I was lucky enough to have a cable connection, and we organized family and school tournaments, which really allowed me to learn about pokemons for days on end, trying to find the unbeatable team. it was a really fun time.

The first game I really got hooked on was Final Fantasy VII, around the year 2000 when I was 7 or 8 years old. It wasn't the first game I played; my parents were big gamers, and by the age of 3, I was already playing Super Mario Kart with them. But FFVII was different.
I came home from school and saw my older sister playing it. She was at the Sector 7 pillar, and I think the game was lent to her or something like that. Watching her play, I was captivated by its story, characters, and universe. It was a shock like I rarely experienced.
That day and that game defined my life and who I still am today, 25 years later !
The first video game I ever played was Night Raid on my grandfather's pc. I remember learning how to work with MDOS so I could play it.
For me, back in the C64 days of the 80's, Sid Meyer's Pirates had me up all night, all summer. On the plus side, during hurricane season I can still label a blank map of the Caribbean. Congrats on your milestone!
I still remember the freedom of GTA 2 in the 90's while I was 5-6 years old.
First game I got really hooked on was probably choplifter on c64. The sounds and little stick figure guys are ingrained in my brain, and I felt like I had to save every single one of them.
There were several games I played as a kid but the one that really got me hooked and turned me into a life long gamer was Ocarina of Time. To this day still my fav game of all time. The story, gameplay, were all just amazing.

My first game ever was Lego City Undercover on the PlayStation 4. I was watching some RUclips videos about it and became interested really quickly. Back in the day, I loved Lego (I still do), so this game was perfect for me.

Contrats mate. I saw a Hull A just yesterday and salvaged it.. looks awsome. The very first one was Diablo 1 where I played a Wizard and my first character name was Macros from the book "Magician" by Rayment E. Fiest. It was an incredible game for its time and filled the power fantasy of being a good wizard battling the darkness. I played that game for a long time.

Who doesn’t love a good ‘ol Hull A? The first game I played and got hooked onto was Wii U Water sports. I remember the day my parents gifted my brother and I a Wii U, plus a few simple games and accessories. The first game I played was Wii watersports, I still play it occasionally to this day. The thing that got me hooked on the game was the pixelated, but viewable graphics, the ability to physically interact with the game, holding a nunchuck in one hand and a controller in the other. It just excites me, even to this day. The atmosphere the game creates is unbelievably amazing.

First game that hooked me was Donkey Kong Country on SNES. I was a little kid at the time, and between how smoothly everything worked, and the amazing soundtrack, it just grabbed my attention way harder than anything I'd played before that.
Congrats on the 5k! When you're at 1 mill, we can all say we were here early. The first game I remember being hooked on was Pokemon Red. Waking up before my parents and turning on the Gameboy under a pillow to muffle the sounds is a vivid memory. Also, waiting for streetlights to go by to play in the car at night is a fun memory.
It's pretty crazy to look back at how far games have come since then, both good and bad.

DUNE 2 is really where it started to shine getting your strategic thinking and creativity humming.

Probably the very first game that I ever played and got INSTANTLY hooked onto was Super Mario Bros 2 on the NES. I was probably 7 or 8 at the time, and there was something about it that opened my eyes to the world of adventure and imagination in games. I had never experienced such an intense need to play a video game in my entire life, nor ever since then haha! That game will always have a special place in my heart 😊

But then I had a blast with Future Cop LAPD, and Starcraft hooked me for life, right before Warcraft 3 got me into WoW.
Well done on the 5k. The first game I played and truly got addicted to was Warcraft 2. I didn’t even have a PC at the time but a good friend’s Dad bought a copy. We both got hooked and I basically lived there for months until I finally got a PC of my own. I loved how the units were comical and enjoyed the strategy. I was also a fan of Doom, SoF, and Wolfenstein myself. I miss LAN parties.
I think the first game that got me hooked was a game called Rocket League. It's rather big now, but it was significantly less popular when I started. I loved the fact that it was literally soccer with cars, and these cars were designed very well. Nowadays they are large enough to make deals to get popular cars like the Nissan 400Z and a couple of Lamborghinis into the game!
The first game that got me hooked was Order and Chaos 2, a fantasy MMORPG. Since then I was a fan of MMORPGs and now I am part of this beautiful community for another MMORPG that has got me hooked again.

Congrats! One of the earliest games I remember playing all the way through is Star Trek: Generations - it introduced me to both FPS and space flight mechanics that I've been using ever since!
I was huge into Mario when I was little. It was a novel experience, and I appreciated getting further into each level every life. Learning the game was satisfying. No surprise I like Rogue-likes now.

Legend of Zork, text based game - that was all we had back then :) I enjoyed having to use my imagination to "fill in" the missing video for the game. I also enjoyed it because your choices changed the path of the game options you got from that point on.
I was a bit late to the game in my life, but I got my first gaming system as I hit 13, and got Skyrim. Queue nearly 8 years of my life then dedicated to nearly that one game, with some GTA mixed in. That’s what got me into PC building, and modding, etc, and truly spawned my love for video games.

If we're talking 'computer' game specifically then it's definitely Age of Empires (the first one). I was terrible without cheat codes, but I loved that game. I was just a neat setting/era, and something I hadn't played before since Nintendo games were really only a single player doing things and not an entire city and army. If we're talking any video game then probably The Legend of Zelda ('86, gold casset baby). I just loved the fantasy gameplay, collecting new weapons, conquering dungeons. It got me hooked on Zelda for many games to come.

The first games I got hooked on were the Gold Box D&D RPGs, starting with Pool of Radiance, and played on the old Commodore 64.
My first game was the original lego star wars, got hooked bc of the fun gameplay and bc I loved the movies.

My stepdad couldn't get me into cars or football, so he made a massive leap of generational faith to try and join my interests. If there had been trophys at the time, we would have definitely 100% that game together.
First for me was Jane’s Navy Fighters back in the late 90s that would hook me on flight sim games for the rest of my life. Now it’s advanced into space sim games!
I got started when a buddy mentioned he was also casually interested in playing. We both bought pledges and i have been playing every day since. He has not played much unfortunately, even after i bought him a cutter and vulture. There is truly nothing like this game, bugs and all.

The very first video game i got hooked on was half life 1. It pioneered first person shooters and i really connected with that. I was also maayybe a bit too young to be playing it...
I got a Commodore 64 when I started high school, before Nintendo was a thing. I played a weird game called Below the Root. Each screen was one section of an enormous vertical 2D map, with giant redwood trees and underground caverns, and no explanations of the story or world, you just had to wander around and figure it all out. My first RPG! I made a giant poster by hand of each screen on a grid to map the world. I eventually discovered it was too big for my poster.

I'm definitely dating myself here with this one, but my first game I got hooked on was Super Mario Bros on Nintendo NES. Me and my sister would always compete to see who could make it further without skipping any levels. She always won, but it definitely fueled my love and desire for getting lost in virtual worlds.

As for my first serious game addiction, it would have to be MAGIC CARPET from Bullfrog games, around 1994. Yeah, the graphics and sound suck by today's standards, but the gameplay at that time was fast and furious and supported by an awesome music track and great graphics. Wish some games studio would pickup where it was left and bring it to the next level with today's technology.

The first video game I got hooked on was The Time Warp of Dr. Brain, loved those puzzles.
The first game I got hooked on and can remember would be Chuck Yeager's Air Combat, It was the first flight sim I played with a joystick that was so much fun to fly. Somehow still holds up pretty well today too.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 on the good old PS2!
It was the very first game my brother and I shared growing up. He always liked football and EA games. I always liked racing and science-fiction stuff. So that was the only game that we agreed on to play together without fighting.
Galactic conquest was always on the TV during summer. I still hear him raging about how the AI ships would target and fight his ships instead of attacking planets. He hated space combat. But that was my favorite thing. Flying little fighters or bombers through space and destroying the bigger capital like ships. So much fun and so many memories.

Diablo 1 and 2. Simply the best loot system ever made, 20+ years later and Diablo 2 is still king of arpgs
The first game I remember being hooked on was SimAnt on the old Mac computers My School had. I would always try to get more computer time so I could play over and over again. At the time it was the strangest game I had seen And I loved it. Congratulations on the growth.

The first game I got hooked on was ‘commandos’. It was the first time I interacted with a computer and I used to sit at it for hours trying to complete the missions. My brothers would help me with the missions.
First game i was truly hooked on was probably final fantasy XI. It was so deep, they never explained anything, and there were tons of people all living their own adventures. It was mind boggling to think we all existed in the same world with different goals.
The first game I ever played was supper Mario on the original Nintendo at my grand mothers house. From that moment forward I was locked in and have been hooked since!

Oh man! Congratulations on the 5k mark, and only to keep climbing! As for my first game, I'd say it was sim tower and Oregon trail on an old apple computer. I would say what officially hooked me though was playing the original final fantasy on NES, as I have very dear memories tied to those days, and it's the reason I've been a final fantasy fan for decades. As I got older, I not only remained a fantasy genre fan, but really delved into and began to love sci-fi and various dystopian/cyberpunk style genre's as well, and now here I am, waiting on what is potentially a dream game to be finished. Congrats on 5k! The first video game I got hooked on was Total War Rome. Its combination of strategic empire management and epic real-time battles captivated me. I loved the depth of planning required to expand my empire, alongside the thrill of commanding legions in detailed, large-scale engagements. The historical setting and immersive gameplay kept me coming back for more.

I only played PC games and as far as I remember the first one was The Settlers / Die Siedler. We had a test version when I was a Auckland University and when I went back home to Germany I just kept on playing 🙂

Comanche CD. That Voxel-Engine was an absolute blast for that time. As well as flying fast through that canyons.
First game I got hooked into was probably an SNES Final Fantasy game. The story was deep for its time, the game had great depth, great characters, and it was "living through" a story when I grew up reading fantasy novels. Loved it.

I think the first game I played regularly and really got hooked by was this old mmorpg called flyff. It was totally pay to win. Even after years my friends and I sometimes start on a random private server that are still running of this (almost) 20 year old game. It has this endless grind, double click for days but its awesome
First game i played and got hooked on to was counter-strike 1.5. Me and the neighborhood would have LAN parties and play because none of us had high speed internet. We made our own ethernet cables and would use books and other random items to make desks for people to play on (i.e. Using a book as a mouse pad). I still jump on counter-strike to this day and play from time to time. Loved that shooter and the competitive nature of the game!
I've been playing games since 84, The first time I felt hooked on something was Halo combat evolved.

The game that truly hooked me was Ace Combat X: Skies of Deception for the PSP. The reason for this was being able to choose different mission paths, which wasn’t really common in games yet, especially in games about planes.

The first game that I truly felt completely hooked by Was diablo 2. There were many before that could hold my attention for a few weeks but diablo 2 got my attention for 25 years. The rune system, the ability to build characters like the Paladin 10 different ways and experimenting with gear on each build was just so fun to me.
