Nothing but respect for anglers like you, using the single hooks instead of the trebles, putting the fish's well being first even when that means less captures, respect!
I can't go fishing right now due to a motorcycle accident so I'm fishing vicariously through people like you, Carl and the Snagged Bros, so thank you for helping to get me through the last 5 months
I posted a picture of my local river where they've been pulling up behind the supermarket and dumping everything from mattresses to full beds entire house clearances it's an absolute disgrace what some scumbags do to the rivers. Cheers for highlighting it chris😢
Yup, scumbags like the private water corporations who keep increasing prices for their services, while simultaneously polluting the waterways...and raking in huge profits for their shareholders and executives. At the same time government is closing recycling plants and municipal dumps, and the private waste disposal companies are charging extortionate prices for their facilities.
you should inform the local river trust to go move that moped out the river before its oils and chemicals leak in the river, just a thought, great video as always keep them coming 😃
My husband doesn't fish often but when he does wow he can fish!!! He watches you fishing and the excitement he feels I wish i could can it up and give it out for free!!!

Iv trout fished for years and always have the hook on the rear facing down for the hookup. Trout have really boney mouths too and depending how rocky your river is and how tight your fishing, you'd be supprised how quickly the hooks blunt too much to hook efficently too. I always keep an oring tool and spare hooks with me. Iv gone smaller on the hook too, as sometimes you can foul hook to the eye if there too long. I'd say I get about 70-80% of my hooks too. I only use smaller spinners and lures though. Great video as always, you always have the best fishing content.
We need more trout fishing videos this season 😂. Today I went fly fishing with streamers and had a few brownies. Would love to see you fly fishing for trout 😁. Have a good one Chris!!
Flytipping - same here. maybe not major junk like your plastic corpse and moped but bad enough. Thing is, the local authority's still not restored skip sites to full operation. Only open several days/week instead of every day. Now you must make an appointment with using a trailer and if the staff feel you're making too many trailer trips then you can be barred or classed as a business user and have to mega-pay to use the place. How many trips allowed? They refuse to say... It's like the council has decided to discourage skip site use for - what reason? Covid concerns can't be used as an excuse any more. So - people fly tip since rubbish still gets generated and is now harder to dispose of because of altered council policy. They can't have it both ways!
In the past many skip sites were council-run. Tories love to privatize any potential asset. Private 'recycling' plants tend to put profit before the environment. When they get too greedy, and the big corporations take over, prices go up, or sites that don't bring in enough money, simply close, putting the burden on other sites.
@@curmudgeon1933 This is Scotland. Ain't nothing Tory run up here... They're an endangered species. But not endangered enough in the view of many! Next big election is going to be a doozie as the SNP is now seen as a crowd of incompetents and money grabbers. Nothing new there say you? Fair enough....

Trout have this way of slashing at the bait with their head. Often it is aggression rather than out and out feeding behaviour. With trebles it is common to foul hook them when they do that. Single hooks are definitely the way to go. Nice tip about the rear hook.
We use a barless single hook only here in Canada BC. It is easier to release a trout. I have a lot of success with a spinner bait called a roaster tail. Strongly recommend. Good luck fishing.
Great start to the trout season! The embankment is eroding more and more each year on the river I fish and exposing rubbish oddly enough where there is a farm, can only assume some farmers over the years had dumped and cover rubbish and now its beginning to become visible. Such ashame to see. I think us wild fishermen spot see these problems more than regular folk, people don't realise the impact these problems have on our rivers.
The brownies where I fish are darker with gold bellies and bright red spots along the sides. The trout you were catching were very silvery and look like the "slob" Trout we get in brackish water. Great video, thanks for the upload.👍
I was thinking one looked like it was turning into a sea trout, on the camera it looked silver with black spots, but the yellow under belly made me think it was definitely a trout.
Fly-tippers are a nightmare...but save your real anger for the greedy privatized water companies that pollute with impunity, due to corrupt politicians, and backroom deals with lobbyists to deregulate environmental oversight...while still jacking up prices to increase already eye-watering profits.
Beautiful trouts. 🎉 It's jus sad to watch what's going on with rivers in UK in recent years. I work in Norway on contracts and I do fishing there. It's impossible to spot a single trash in Norway anywhere. Ive fished down that river before river ryton barely any accessible spots however some monster trouts can be caught in it especially by the side of the park and going towards kilton area Now i fish more often down the canal some great carp can be caught 7 to 8kg and some enormous perch can be caught especially in months like july and august.

For over 60 years all I've ever fished for is trout. It's a pity you're not up to fishing in that way, fly and nymph. I'd like to see that. Fishing for trout with spinners and jigs is just too easy. Trout are total suckers for spinners and lures which is why they're banned on trout fisheries. You could always tie (or get someone to tie) your own rat 'streamer' which would be an interesting challenge. I'll never forget the amazing success you had fly fishing for pike and I wonder what you might attract fishing a very big streamer in that urban trout water.
They're not banned for the most part in the US (there are some fly only waters, but they're the exception). In anything other than muddy waters a good fly fisherman can normally outfish a spin fisherman. And there are conditions in which a spin fisherman is totally helpless.
