  • How far can you drive an electric Kia EV6 in winter conditions? As usual, there's only one way to find out.
    In this week's video, Gav took a an EV6 Air Long Range on a 573 km drive in New Zealand winter conditions to see how much the wind, cold, and rain would affect the car's claimed range of 528 km per charge.
    As you can imagine, these awful conditions sapped some of the range, but the car did fairly well - and check out that charging speed.

    And if you're keen on cutting your carbon footprint, come and join us at Ecotricity, which is now New Zealand's only climate positive electricity provider! That means by switching today, you're actually turning back the clock on Climate Change, while saving money in the process.
    Sounds too good to be true, right? Well, it's not! Ecotricity is real, with really affordable electricity, thanks to it being purely renewable.
    Head to www.ecotricity.co.nz and chuck in your address to see how much money & carbon you can save right now. It's that easy and it makes a real, positive difference for the next generation.

    To me, as a Swede, it is downright upsetting to see you wearing shorts and t-shirt in the middle of winter. I know life isn't meant to be fair but that's more unfair than necessary.

    Be great if you did a standard long trip a la Bjorn’s 1000km. Maybe the trip you are doing today or add another 100km. See what the time and efficiency is.

      There isn’t the rapid charging infrastructure in NZ like Norway and Sweden have, with those stupid 50kWh fast chargers in a lot of NZ station it would take way to long.

    All levels of the aussie versions miss out on a heat pump, whereas I understand the top line NZ models did get them. Pity, as it makes them quite thirsty on energy on cold Victorian days.

      It’s actually BS, if you have Ecotricity and your neighbour has another supplier how are you getting 100% renewable and they aren’t? They won’t answer that question.

    • @BenMitro
      @BenMitro 8 месяцев назад

      @@MasterChief37 I know it looks like that, all electricity is the same in the wires. What they mean is that the source of some of that electricity comes from renewable sources and mixed in the cables with electricity from other sources. Since you can't differentiate between the different sources, if you buy from a renewable only supplier, the higher the percentage of clean, renewable electricity is in the wires. It all helps the generations that will come after us.

    • @MasterChief37
      @MasterChief37 8 месяцев назад

      @@BenMitro I understand that, but that’s not how they sell it to consumers, it’s all smoke and mirrors.
      More hydro and Lake Onslow Pumped Storage is the answer to our energy needs. Wind is not the long term answer.

    I feel like you were a bit uncritical of that drag coefficient thing. 0.28 is a bit pants compared to the Ioniq 6 at 0.21 or the Teslas at 0.23. That's quite a big difference

    • @ObiePaddles
      @ObiePaddles 10 месяцев назад +1

      We get 14.8 kwh/100km in tesla Y. Kia is pretty inefficient overall in comparison which it needs such a big battery.

  • @examinerian
    @examinerian 10 месяцев назад

    Ahh, the EV6 - I'd rather have the Ioniq 6, although KbackwardsN does put the gear selector in a much better place IMO, because Hyundai's column-mounted twisty thing is not as obvious or convenient...

    My brother has this car. Honestly I don’t know who this car is for. It seems to absolutely drink electricity, and inside it has space not any better than a Model 3 or Atto 3.
    It costs double the Atto 3 (seriously it’s so overpriced it’s silly) but misses more and more standard features like sunroof. The range of the “long range”version is worse than my LFP Tesla RWD model 3, is slower, while being the worse chemistry of lithium turnery. (Better if it provides better performance, but it doesn’t)
    It has a bigger battery than Tesla but it means lower efficiency while getting less range.
    So again - Who did Kia actually make this car for?

  • @rcosnett
    @rcosnett 10 месяцев назад +1

  • @P-Bee
    @P-Bee 10 месяцев назад

    Too big (on the outside), too expensive, too slow, at least for the energy it sucks down and misses out on a lot of features unless you spend a lot more for the higher spec models. Looks aren't too bad but no thanks.
