The way you blended his hair in the back was masterful. For a novice barber those cowlicks would’ve presented a problem but you handled them effortlessly!
I cut my husbands hair myself for a while, and I’ve been wanting to change a few thing up and couldn’t find a really detailed video. This is the BEST one I’ve seen in so long.. THANK YOU
I had this problem too. I started easy with just using the same length for everything in the first session. 2 weeks later I did it again plus cut clean lines in the neck and behind ears. It is very simple, still looks clean and decent. Now that I have a basic feeling I might attempt a fade.. good luck.
Try it with a longer length as you did, then you can try ONE step down, going just shy of the previous line. This will be the start of a fade. I would suggest just starting there and then you can keep going down a length as you get comfortable! The shorter it is, the harder it is to hide. Obviously.
Nice cut. I’m a cosmetologist and I started out watching stylist cut all day. There’s something about the way you cut it’s so relaxing! I love it!thank you for the hints
Halfway into cutting my husband's hair for the first time, I was about to give up and told him I can't do it - you have to go to the hair salon and have them fix it. He was very encouraging come on you can do it! I watched this video and viola! That was it, I got it and my hubby's hair looks great! Took only two hours hahahaha and HAIR IS EVERY WHERE!
Im a traditionally trained Barber..... And have never been afraid to learn and work with stylists and this is a perfect reason. Outstanding clipper over comb work! Its inspiring! You put mine to shame.
Amanda, thank you for this fantastic instructional video. I cut my husband´s hair - I watch this video again right before each haircut, and I always notice something new! The last few haircuts have been my best ones ever. Thank you!
Some people like the disconnect and don't like the perimeter connected, it depends on how they style their hair(pomp, comb over, slick back). Aside from that you are amazing and have great clipper and shear work! As a barber I hate seeing self taught RUclips "educators" making it like skin fades are God's work and everyone should praise them for knowing basics even tho those guys can't even use scissors to save their life. So thank you for showing actual industry tips and techniques
I took interest in such videos bc of this current situation that everything's shut and there are no barbers available, I wanted to help my dad and cut his hair. Even though for someone without a experience like me this seems difficult, I LOVED how you do this 😍 Great job!! 👏❤
Waoooooooouuuuuuuh You cut so fast and so Perfect and I like the way you touch the hair!! You are So Incredible! I wish I live near your salon! Bravo !!
Awesome ? Look at the right ear temple area and the back middle ..... She fucked it up. And this is the best YOU ever seen? My theory of you is correct... Your a stupid dick and idiot! Thanks skippy !!!
Thanl you very much for shoving this haircut. I was able to cut my partner's hair. It is not professional but he is happy with the result. Thanks to you.
Wow!!!!!! She's amazing 😍 wish I could do this. My sons need haircuts like every two or 3 weeks but it's costly...I need to learn this👍your hands are so steady.
Also just a side note: the videos are really helpful but the extreme close ups on some of the shear work makes it kind of hard to tell what part of the head she’s working on!
Amanda, greetings from Hellas! I go to barbering school and your videos help me a lot..very educational. So thanks a million! You're amazing, a real pro.
Hello, I admire how your explaination is so detailed. I just recently received my license and love to learn more about mens haircut. I find it more challenging to learn men's haircut than women, Your video of different men's cut and style are on point. Thank you! Can you do asian haircut please!
Sorry for my english i am french. Thank you a lot for your vidéo i cut my husband ' s hairs today ( i don t have accessories on the hair clipper ) i took a lot of time but it's 'good ! Thank you a lot from France
AllenRaySalon well are you only specialized in mens haircuts? Or you can start asking subscribers on yt or insta for getting some inspo. Maybe they can send you pics of mens haircut and what is trend right now. Because i love also watching your old videos they are perfectly done, but dont stress yourself 😉 love from austria ❤
My husband thinks because I cut dogs hair I can cut people hair. Nothing is farther from the truth. I found this video very helpful. His hair looks great. I had a little trouble with his crowns.
Good observation. The crown area is "tough" because it's a large transition area, both from top to bottom AND front to back on a round area. My suggestion is leave some length, following the bone structure. You'll notice on the sides, the bone structure is higher but then when you come to the back, it dips down -- so follow that bone structure. :)
i watch the brardbrand blend and at the end of the haircut i think, when are they gonna blend it but apparently they already have, this blend with just a comb is fantastic
I tried that clipper over comb technique today on my husband, but I totally messed up his neck 🙈 it was difficult to get a nice fading from short to long. Luckily the upper part and the sides look quite good, it was the first time I ever cut someone’s hair
This is the one I personally use: amzn.to/2YWRzvJ This is the one I use professionally: amzn.to/2Lbhrvt If you'd like a cheaper one, this is sufficient: amzn.to/2Wd0Uh4
Wow ! Free hand no guards .love your style..do u keep a certain length in mind if they ask for a longer top or shorter (asking for longer crown videos not particularly this one )
Yes, I always try to envision the end result before I start any haircut. I almost "work it out in my mind" first. My trick is, I don't think it length, I think in shape. So if someone wants a longer top, I decide where the I need to keep weight or reduce weight then I will cut according to that. If they want to keep weight, I might connect horizontally. If they want it tall and lean, I would probably connect the top vertically. I hope this helps...
thank you for this great tutorial! it has helped me cut my husband's hair a lot. I do have one question though. I never get the hair to split so nicela and stay where I need it to be. do you use some kind of lotion when you wash the hair to prevent it from busting out?
I don't use any products at all. If you notice, I push the hair forward in the direction of the growth, push the hair down with the spine of the comb, and then comb the lower hair down in a different direction. It's hard to explain with words but hopefully you'll grasp it!
To add to that, is this available as a course? Ive cut for years and would love to be able to graduate from reliance on guards and oster blades to just a clipper and comb, for fades as well.
I don't use guards so I don't want to give you mis information - however I do use detachable blades and I would probably start at a 3.5, then a 2, then 1.5, then a 1 then a 0A
This quarantine making everyone a barber
Irene LOL here I am, learning to cut my hubby’s hair!!
Best of all if I go wrong no one is going to see it 😂😂😂
I am going to open my own shop at noon time today thanks this video.

Really stressed about getting ready to give my partner a quarantine cut. There's a reason why barbers and stylists go through years of training.
Julie Braam me too I’m about to cut his 😂

Amanda, thank you for this fantastic instructional video. I cut my husband´s hair - I watch this video again right before each haircut, and I always notice something new! The last few haircuts have been my best ones ever. Thank you!
I was watching this video before giving my husband a haircut, as all barbershops are closed. It helped a lot!

Wondering what guard number are you using ? Don't see you changing the guard through out the video. Thanks
1.5, 1, 0A, 000
There are links below in the description with the exact blades that I use! You're welcome to check them out.

The only thing that makes sense of nearly 400 thumbs down, is from other hairdressers that are envious.
You are like a Ninja with clippers!
Well done
Wow this video is freakin amazing thank you
Fab cut! Not sure my attempt at cutting my husband’s hair will be as successful 🤪
Good luck!!
