Welcome to Florida. Most of us that have lived here for a while, forget how wonderful it is. Both of my parents lived in Ashland NH until they graduated HS. Next day they left for Florida and never looked back. Spent 2 months a year on Little Squam Lake during the summers in NH from the age of 6 to 15. My second home. Live in DeLand on a farm will eventually purchase the RV and hit the road. Thanks for the videos and info / ideas. Live free or die.
Hi Russ, Thank you for the kind words. Florida has been amazing so far. NH was nice too, but happy to be away from the cold and snow lol😀. Thank you for watching our videos and commenting, I truly appreciate it! Take care! Karri
Thank you so much for sharing this. We just started full-time RV living about a week ago. We also plan to domicile in Florida, and this was extremely useful information. We’ll be heading to the Crestview area in January and are starting to gather all of the necessary documents now. Safe travels!Bridget and John
@@KK38789 No clue about the RV parks, but I don't see why the town would have a problem. The only way to know is to call each park you want to stay at and ask them.
Now it has been a year how are you feeling about the sales tax, vehicle registration fees, and medical insurance? Have you look at medicare sypplemental costs yet? Last question, did you look at TN for domicile? I understand that having a physical address may be difficult but you don't pay sales tax on vehicles you bring from another state. This is huge.
We are over a decade away from being eligible for Medicare so currently that is not a concern. We did our research prior and were well aware of the costs associated with Florida residency. Our reasons for choosing a domicile state was not to avoid taxes so that was not a concern either. We only document our experience and we encourage anyone looking at domicile states to do their own research. What may work for us, does not mean it will work for you. Safe Travels.
So from what I gather, the most difficult part would be getting the drivers license established ... so if I already live in Texas and vehicle is registered here and I have driver's license from Texas already, getting the "physical addresss" such as My RV Mail shouldn't be a problem. Planning on doing RV life soon (we plan on being in southern Texas for at least part of that time in winter).
Question for you… First off congratulations on your move, but my question is why did you move out of New Hampshire as your domicile state? My husband and I are not ready to go full-time, but we are close to retirement and we live in a state that taxes you to death on your pension, Social Security, everything and we were considering New Hampshire because they don’t have all those taxes and we do RV a lot, so we figured we would be there six months out of the year and on the road six months out of the year. Are there downfalls to New Hampshire that maybe I’m missing?
Thank you Linda! In the town we moved from, they require you go in person to the town hall to renew registration. Then you have to go through inspection. When we travel we end up in Florida at some point anyway so it was a great fit for us. In Florida we can renew online and no inspection required, another plus for us. NH is a great state if you are going to be there for those kinds of things.
With our credit union - no issues at all. Capital One and Wells Fargo both would not use the "commercial" address. This has to do with how each financial institution interprets the Patriot Act
@@liferedesigned yes I found Allstate. Thank you. Not sure why progressive decided to not renew after a year in fla with them. Notified vehicles must be in state of Florida. Had them in SC for many years
Hey guys! Thanks for the video. I was under the impression that FL required a livable address for those who want to use it as a domicile state. If so, does that mean that y'all rent a place there while you are traveling? Am I missing something? Thanks!
Nope, we just use MyRVMail for our mailing address and were all set in about an hour at the town offices. Licenses, Registration, Taxes all go through our mailing address. MyRVMail.com has a great FAQ about this
@@liferedesigned okay, thanks! They must have used an address that is technically livable because from what I understand you can't use a mail forwarding address. Appreciate your time!
The Patriot Acr requires an actual residence address that you own or rent. This is what SD started enforcing which is not the fault of the state. NO state is immune and no one can escape this legal requirement. Domicile cannot be established with ANY mail service I. ANY state even if the service is in a building with a physical address. It is NOT your address by law just like a campground that you rent space from CANNOT be your legal address to establish residency@@JoeyBeeFit
I would advise checking the with the county that you are registering in. If it is/ was a requirement, it was not a concern when we transferred as it was all done in the same day.
@@liferedesigned sorry if I was not clear. I'm strictly talking about tax purposes. Us remote workers have to pay taxes where we live not from the state that pays us and if you live in FL but in a RV most of the year it gets complicated, no?
Depends on your work. I work full time remote. My company taxes based on FL taxes not the states that I travel to. Your individual situation may be different. For that I would contact a tax professional
The easiest way to domicile in Florida is to be born and raised in Florida! Lol! Welcome from a 4th generation Floridian. We talked about full time RVing, when we retired, but we already have a paid for home here where tons of full timers winter. Our children and grandchildren live 5 minutes away. We take month(s) long trips whenever we want. We’re still young enough to enjoy fishing, diving and other things on the water here.
Yes, thank you! Lol that definitely would have been easier!😀 I love that your family is close to you, many more memories to be had! Thank you for commenting, I appreciate it! Be well, Karri
Gotcha. Our passport we had prior so not 100% sure. I can’t think of any reason as to why not. The only address required for a passport is a mailing address. When we got ours we had a PO Box in NH and it was not a problem

Just 'domiciled' in florida after starting our full time adventure two months ago. Followed your plan through the same mail service. My question is, did they put your full Crestview address on your driver's license or just your rigs tag# and Crestview FL.,32536? That is what they made us do and I'm just concerned with getting loans and such without a full address on your license.
Ours has the full Crestview Address on them. Some banks do have issue with the address (Capital One & Wells Fargo) but our credit union from NH does not.
Wow, they must have have changed regulations or something. Like I said, ours only shows our rigs tag#, followed by Crestview FL 32536. I would've been much happier with the full 5753 hwy 85N address. At least it looks more like a real address. It works for domiciling just not so sure with any bank for that matter. Thanks
Lol I completely understand what you are saying about a small town license office one where we lived was in the back of the only grocery store! 😂
oh geez! That is definitely small town living!

Property taxes in NH suck (I'm leaving Maine for Florida because Maine is killing me with taxes)

Pros and cons South dakota vs flordia for domicile?
Can’t advise on that as we did not research South Dakota enough due to the changing laws there. Escapees should be able to help you with that
how are the insurancce rates in florida?
Crazy high! No fault state - we pay $2600 yearly on our truck alone with perfect driving records. Only drawback
