"Is there really such a thing as a stupid question?"
"Well you've just asked one."
Every scientist ever interviewed would love to give this answer.
Sounds about right. On the one side of the debate, we have a PhD who has spent years researching this topic. On the other side, we have someone who isn't allowed around knives and is distracted by shiny objects.
The mainstream media is so one-sided:
We have Dancing On Ice, but never once Dancing On Fire.
We have Great British Bake Off, but not one programme that debunks the existence of cakes.
Where is the weather forecast for indoors, or don't agoraphobics get any consideration?
Sadly this is accurate. I never understood the "we've got to show both sides of the story" when one side is an expert or somone with direct experience and the other is a strong opinion informed only by prejudice fear and misunderstanding or the desire to maintain systemic marginalisation and oppression of a group of people.
Id like to think you were being ironic, but I suspect sadly thats not the case, in which case scary. I think Matts after a lucrative job on the BBC - which he surely deserves without debasing his currency.
I think I heard it from James O’Brien. “When you have a person saying that it’s raining and another person saying that the sun is shining the job of the journalist is not to give equal time to both but to open the window and check what’s the weather outside.”
Recent example: BBC giving airtime to the daft "sack 'em all" rants of some posh restaurateur as part of a report on transport strikes.
@@peetthefeet I don't understand what you're trying to say.
@@pansepot1490 Oh that's brilliant. But *why* is it seemingly so bloody difficult?!
The media. Where academic knowledge is woke.
I think you mean "woke". Punctuation matters.
@@olmostgudinaf8100 "0/10: Didn't use correct punctuation. 🧐"
it's important to have someone who knows what they're talking about AND someone who talks bollocks because...well...balance, apparently.
Case in point, some numpties believed Farage with his nonsense ramblings about Brexit. Go figure!
This is just so spot on Matt.
The decline in TV journalism in the UK is incredibly disheartening.
Heard a 20 minute caller on LBC today who based her opinion on “not knowing much”! 😮
I expect to see her with a Ministerial position in the days to come… 😅 Great work Matt - as usual.
20 minutes? 🤔 That is PM material 🎉
@@verttikoo2052 😂
The punchline caused a severe coughing fit, so thanks for that Matt!
Here too!
So true - apparently we hate experts in everything!
This is just too realistic.
In todays world equal consideration is demanded for flat earther theories!
Pretty much all our MSM sources of 'news' - in a nutshell!
Those cold endings tho…💀
Wow! Absolutely spot on, Matt. You've just summarised most news television.
Sounds like the recruitment process for GBeebies and TalkTV, find someone who is passionate but ignorant
So true, unfortunately. Keep up the excellent work.
All too true...
Hahaha! I did not see that punchline coming, wet me sen. Brilliant as always Matt.
Excellent, I'm still chucking 5 mins later.
stupid is as stupid does lol excellent work matt love it
Stop it! You made me have a coughing fit.
Hit the nail on the head, not with a hammer, but with a miniature sized nuke. The state of our media.
Again, brilliant video! Well done. :)
"On the Nosey" once again Matt! Thanks for sharing😊
Brilliant as ever.
Thanks Matt
Good point well made.
Oh and make sure the expert has never been on camera before and the person with no knowledge of the topic has had media training and therefore can gish gallop and use every trick in the book to come off looking better
TIL the phrase "gish gallop" - thanks Alex!
Another trick is to call the expert shortly before going on air, while giving the idiot contributor days to prepare.
'Sorry, WHAT!''
Exactly what I was saying increasingly over an ever decreasing period of time until I got rid of my TV, radio & stopped reading 'Newspapers' ... And reeeelaaax ...
👀 ooOoo Twitter 🤯 ARRRRGH!
Keeping it real. Didn’t need to spit coffee but did need the laugh. Keep it up.
Absolute Genius
Fact checking Conservatives.
I just assume everything they say is a lie. It's easier that way.
Spot on, again and again !
Uncomfortably accurate, as usual.
AH! The type of attitude that “Got Brexit Done”; when official government policy was “we’ve had too many experts, don’t listen to them!”
Not to mention the 6 weeks after sacking “Treasury Orthodox” in favour of the PM & CoE’s O Level Dissertation on “Britain Unhinged”.
Ah, the subtle difference in opinion between think-tank and tank-think. By the familiar faces on talkshows of these non-experts, it is apparently a career AB could transition to, if he wasn't so afraid of that term. Looking forwards to more, from the "More..." studio.
Made me lightning strikes, twice.
The BBC's business model in a nutshell.
Hear is the news & currant affairs programme..
Lets hear some really important facts from people with knowledge up against an uninformed opinion, from someone with an agenda that has a juxtaposition of unaccountability, that is given more credence.
Welcome to propaganda in the media, lesson 101.
Fantastic Andrew Bridxxxx👏👏
Great Matt.... Hurts to know it is so true
I am wiping the floor as i literally p....d myself when you said: are there any stupid questions? Well you just asked one 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🇩🇪❤🇬🇧
What a perfect punchline.
*chef's kiss*
The name at the end made me roar with laughter
Thanks for another great video that shows a statistically significant swing to the hilarious.
"Well, you just asked one"
Ouch. I have used that line many times in training sessions...
Now that is funny! Thanks. 🤣🤣🤣
the second person was instantly censored, no sur🤫prises there!
It's like you work for the BBC!
British journalism is rotten. To its core. We need more people making fun of them and their shenanigans.
Will you be featuring the latest Tory tex cheat soon? I would love to hear your take on it! 😅
Yes, that's exactly it again!
Exactly
Politicians use their forked tongue for important speeches & money begging
Awww I was looking forward to hearing from Andrew Brigees Mogg Hancock Dories Fabriverman. I love how they're just like me, in that Rupert Murdoch tells us both what to do.
Perfect.
Just seen your ad 😳 congratulations!!!
There is a train o thought which says the idea of having "balance" isnt actually balanced. If you have someone with an extreme view (Like Andrew Br%^&*) some broadcasters think giving a more sane person the same time (even) is "balance". It isnt. It presents the extreme view as having 50% popularity ...which rather explains why the loons get lots of air time and more sane views are limited by comparison.
By the way, why are all these other comments here?
Yes!!! How is this balance?!!!
😂🤣😂🤣 brilliant Matt 👏👏👏👏
Too near the truth
Superb!
Yes!😆
Lol excellent x
Brilliant
I'm reading a book called Superforecasting and this rings so true
and they call it democracy...
So true!
Here was me thinking it was going to be Sophie/Simon Corcoran…
😂😂😂.. Makes complete sense 😂
Thanks
Thank you!
Too funny
You made me laugh, but then so does this government.
Ah the current state of journalism. No need for satire is there really
We’re you listening to LBC this morning by any chance?
Why did RUclips insert a COVID reference?
🤣🤣🤣🤣👍😂🤗
100%
Drôle, very drôle.
If they're going to let actual experts speak then they need to let the uninformed but outraged speak as well for balance.
The American Jonny Ball - Bill Nye went on one of those comedy chat shows, and instead of just him versus a climate denier to give the impression of balance, they included 97 scientists.
Lol
Really bad editing there Matt, I didn't get the full name! Who was it? 😏
Sorry Matt, I can only give this a hollow laugh as it is too close to the truth.
Matt you do realise that someone who knows something might have voted for Andrew Brig.............
Yes because people that waffle on about something is so delightfully confusing and mesmerizing🥴.
Listening to an expert is so depressing...😒
The only small flaw in this video is you described Andrew bridgen as liked by anyone, whereas despite his views being entirely populist, he’s about as popular as fart in a lift. By a nudist. Who followed through….
ah yes… i think someone hacked your channel and uploaded something from a real news channel…
…
hope you “take back control” :))))
#brilliantAsAlways
Lol like JK Rowling.
I don't know anyone who's ever Rowled a JK.
Is it a drug reference ?
"I think we've had enough of experts!"
Another lie that got Brexit over the line...
