His tone was unreal for this show. This is the best fusion of blues and jazz phrasing ever. This style is very unique, and very hard to imitate. Probably the best blues guitarist in the world right now.
Matt Scohfield's band sounds so similar to the great Robben Ford. I never new about him and discovered his music on a blues radio station. This is cool stuff and I am looking forward to the purchase of one of his albums for my car.
This guy is amazing Has an awesome tone, just impressive and the way he plays is so fresh and classy. I think he's the best blues player today without any doubt.
Iam a bassplayer…..but iam a great fan of Matt! Doesn’t care John plays the bass on his keys! The sound and feel of Matt is unusual good! In Holland he plays with the guys from “King Of the World”….with Ruud Weber on the bass, Govert on B3…..i was there in the Vorstin…! Like like!
I've played mini a gig with a B 3 using the lower register for basslines.. if you adjust the upper register back a little bit you get all the bass you need.
Thanks for that tip about Eric Gales. I've never heard of him before and I'm going to take a look now. I love Matt Schofield, got all his CDs and seen him live loads of times so if Eric Gales is as good then I know I'm going to like him. Cheers.
Love his playing and I love that color strat. Lets not talk 'best' cause we all know there are too manys to be 'one' . Let not forget Eric Gales another amazing musician whos playing totally "connects"
Jazz was born out of the blues! so ..... why not Jazz up the blues? ... for me ....a blues player who has been on the road for over 40 years... Mr Scofield is an evolutionary move forward!...... being a purist is not the way forward ! I am sure that Albert King /Collins, Robert Johnson, Leadbelly, Big Bill Broonsy,Josh White etc! would delight in Matt Scoffield's contribution ! The important thing to consider in all genre's of music is to remain true and creative! certainly Matt fulfills that!!
Why all the hate of Joe Bonamassa? He is a talented, versatile, incredibly hard working guitarist who produces fantastic music. My favourite current blues artists are Matt Schofield, Joe Bonamassa, Joanne Shaw Taylor, Jack White and Oli Brown. They are all bringing blues back in their own way.
I agree he's very good and def. an original sound and great tone and style but IMHO Eric Gales is the best blues guitarist in the world right now. If you haven't heard him yet check him out, absolutely amazing guitarist and great vocalist as well. I love both matt schofield and Eric gales. actually they've jammed together several times just search youtube amazing performances
Matt is such a well phrasing player. THE BEST HERE: key and bass from one Player. Very very well. Playin hammond solo and bass at a time. Who says only women are able to do a lot things at a time? Laugh!!!

Pay attention, lads, this is the best blues guitarist of our generation.
No.
Roben Ford is up there
Matt is one the best blues guitar player at the moment ! love his tone !!! thanks for sharing
It’s 2021 and this is still GREAT!
2024
Matt Scohfield's band sounds so similar to the great Robben Ford. I never new about him and discovered his music on a blues radio station. This is cool stuff and I am looking forward to the purchase of one of his albums for my car.
Was thinking the same .....Robben Ford. Spot on👍
Great playing, great band.
So glad he does the jazz twist in his lines like Robben Ford. Oh and he can sing!
This guy is amazing
Has an awesome tone, just impressive and the way he plays is so fresh and classy. I think he's the best blues player today without any doubt.
+Shreyeder Both are great in their own right! Philip is a monster too!
I know Mr.Sayce, he plays the guitar in a beastly way!!! He's a monster! Anyway, I prefer Matt, he has more a swingy feel to me.
@@armandopace8559 I think Matt creates positive vibrations. You can already hear it in the way he talks.
Music is not a competition. Instead, we say "the best....", we could say "a great blues player", etc
Love this Tone.
What's amazing is that there's no bassist... that's just the keyboard player. Amazing multitasking!

I found this after working on one of Matt's excellent lessons on Truefire. He does a rhythm analysis of this track.
Awesome stuff. Great rhythm to the tune too.
Thanks for that tip about Eric Gales. I've never heard of him before and I'm going to take a look now. I love Matt Schofield, got all his CDs and seen him live loads of times so if Eric Gales is as good then I know I'm going to like him. Cheers.
Point taken! So much talent ... it's inspiring.
damn what a band....such fine young talent !!!
Some Robben Ford vibes in there! Great stuff!
i was thinking johnny winter
Robben Ford guitar; Johnny Winter voice.
This Cat has much more up his sleeve than Ford......ford's got stories.....Matt's got the Licks.....and he's Happy...
@@john-zw9rw ramblings of a ignorant person haha. Congrats on being an idiot
space is the place, add taste, you get this guy,,,,,,,he's great
tone so amazing
Why does it have to be a competition? They're both great!
Just classy, as always.
Organ bass lines.. funky as!
I saw Matt in Cadiz (Spain) a couple of years ago. It´s a pleassure to hear that wonderful music nowadays, instead of all that radio shit!
Great band, drummer has great feel, hammond sounds incredible. Dig Matt's playing and tone and voice.
Kevin Hayes on drums
Love his playing and I love that color strat. Lets not talk 'best' cause we all know there are too manys to be 'one' . Let not forget Eric Gales another amazing musician whos playing totally "connects"
This is SVL stratocaster! ;-)

he's opening for him again tonight at the Colston Hall! :D
just wow...
Actually Dislikes??? Really?
This is just brutal. So legit. I'm gonna learn that solo! I will do it! However long it takes! hahaha
nice Fender, I have the same one ;)
This guitar tone is ridiculous
Sounds great! Vocals sound a little bit dry and over the mix, but it's cool, anyway.
Great playing style and beautiful tone.!! Similar to Robben.
yes

Uaoh!!!
Man LOOKOUT

If Robben Ford and SRV boned and had a baby = Matt
SRV was a no talent copy cat poser.
What about Robben Ford and Larry Carlton? I'm sure this guy learned a lot with them.
Matt is such a well phrasing player. THE BEST HERE: key and bass from one Player. Very very well. Playin hammond solo and bass at a time. Who says only women are able to do a lot things at a time? Laugh!!!
Who is this great drummer?
It's weird hearing this song with organ instead of the e piano on the studio version.
JD Simo is on that short list too....
Here's your Blues Guitarist for the next Decade...............
Fantastic playing, amazing feel and tone. This is the real and not fake like Bonamassa.
Not a fender, it's an SVL
it's just wood and single coils
If Johnny Winter and Robben Ford had a baby…😁
does he play maple necks or just rosewood?
chris rivet, Strats with rosewood fingerboard.
ah, well I have a Fender strat that looks similar! aha
And Joe bonamassa?
You’re kidding; another no talent hyped overrated poser.
that keyboard player makes me want to quit guitar!
indeed
