- Easiest swallowed barbed hook removal method EVER without tools, with a stick you found on the ground. Works on all species, as long as your line is strong enough to hold the weight of the fish off the ground. fyi, NOT for “catch and release” purposes. Fish dies every time.
No dead fish were harmed in the making of this video 😂
True story!..
Not sure if this was edited after the fact, but the creator clearly stated ‘Not for catch and release’. Don’t know why people are getting emotionally damaged over an already dead fish… I like to spatchcock my chickens by cutting out their spine… I learned the technique from Scorpion in Mortal Kombat before RUclips was really a thing.
Works by literally tearing and shearing the hook out of its throat.
Doesn’t really matter when you’re keeping the fish?
@@SilhouetteOutdoors I mean as long as you kill it first no harm no foul
@@cxwhitt3097 this fish was 100% bonked before the hook removal
@@SilhouetteOutdoors there you go, no harm done then.
@@cxwhitt3097 I'm gonna do it on a live fish next time just because I know it'll bother you.
Half these comments are from people who obviously don’t fish :/
Why is everyone complaining about this video. If you plan on releasing the fish then don't use this technique. Simple as that.
Right?! And the fish is clearly dead as a door nail.. Boggles the mind 🤦🏻
What technique do you use when you're releasing the fish???
@@richardwalters2715 I usually try my best not to kill them. Most of the time I don't release them because I like fish.
Seriously? Cool!
@@CheriLexvold it’s so easy.. No pliers, no fingers in there and your right back in the water with the same hook!
I knew there was going to be some silly comments about torture! Lmao. You can clearly see the fish’s “death stare” before the stick goes in.
Right?! He was clearly bonked prior to the maneuver. You should have seen the comments on Instagram 🤦🏻
Yeah he would have been flopping after he landed
60% of the time it works it works every time.
It’s like using “sex Panther”.. every time!
What ron burgandy uses right?
What technique do you use when you're releasing the fish???
So the “angler” was taking a nap when trout swallowed the hook?
I desperately try not to harm a fish but the trout here swallow my damn hook every time. I’d use this method if I were sure it was humane for catch and release. Can you confirm? Because to me it seems to be potentially damaging the fish pretty severely.
No, they 100% do not survive this maneuver. If you want to release them when they swallow the hook. My best advice is to not lift them out of the water with the line and snip the line off as close to the hook as possible and hope it rusts out. Best odds! Or eat them, lol
@@SilhouetteOutdoors That's what I thought and I have been clipping the line... thanks for the response! :)
Ok, I hate to be that guy, but doesn’t that tear up his insides? I honestly don’t know, can someone please explain?
In the orange subtitle, it says “not for catch and release” this 100% kills them, every time. It’s just a super easy hook removal and yes, I eat them!
All depends if youre catching to eat or catch and release.. if its to eat then whack it on its head then it doesnt matter. But doing this to a fish youre releasing? Seems a tad harsh
Well, you may be concerned, but not very observant. That fish was bonked well before, clearly dead as a door nail and if you read the orange caption, it says “not for catch and release”
yeah so i am allergic to fish and i dont kill my fish you got a better way
You cut the line as close to the hook as possible making sure not to lift the fish out of the water with the line by itself and release it. Odds are the hook will rust out and that’s the fish’s best chance to survive swallowing a barbed hook. I would use barbless if you plan on catch and release only. I do eat fish. Tight lines my friend!
Are we trying to get the hook out or kill the fish?
@@robcarey4189 fish is already dead…
Bro the fish😂
Im hella new to fishing, to clarify, that wont work on a living fish cause itll prolly fuck em up right?
They 100% won’t survive this maneuver. So I usually bonk em before performing it. Not for “catch and release” at all.
😂😂😂
Cool
Does this hurt the fish 😂
Yeah, just a little… Lands them in the frying pan too! 😂
U really clever
It works pretty slick
Neat tip, thank you sir. You made that look too easy. I recently watched your catfish 101, and today I bought a medium heavy action rod. I bought 20lbs line and 17lbs leader. I plan on going fishing on the snake on Friday, I bought smelt and sardine (it's what the shop had). I bought the #6 hooks you recommended and 2oz sinkers. A friend and I are going to fish off the bank since we don't have a boat. It'll be when we get off of work around 6PM it's both our first-time cat fishing and are very encouraged by your videos. Could you offer us any advice if you get a chance? Thank you for all your help!
I typically use from 2/0 to 5/0 octopus hooks, depending on how big my baits are for catfish. I try to put hyper links for all the gear I use in all the video descriptions to help out as well. And if I can catch a fresh fish for cut-bait while I’m fishing. A succor, pike minnow, or crappie, keep it cold on ice after it dies. Carp isn’t very good btw.. But that’s the best bait you can get. It’s good to have back up bait like your smelt tho! Good luck!!
Silhouette Outdoors thanks for the last minute advice I’m going to try to make it to the tackle shop tomorrow afternoon before I hit the river for some last minute adjustments. I would love to use some fresh out of the river bait I just have no idea how I would even catch a sucker fish to begin with (I’m a total noob) that’s why I opted for frozen bait.
@@artemioquintero7866 get a 2 pole permit and just run night crawler on one rod. Good chance you’ll catch something for cut-bait. Good luck!! Cats will bite the night crawler too
Silhouette Outdoors you’re an encouragement, the main reason I’m giving it a go is because is because of your content. Thanks.
@@artemioquintero7866 right on!! There is an incredible amount of catfish to be had in that reservoir! Best way to put fish in the freezer
The fish just cracked its head open on the rocks below and is now dead
What if you want to keep the fish alive still? Different story now lol
Only option there is to cut the line and let it rust out if it’s in the fishes stomach
Your a god
I want to see the FishSlap method 🤣
Yer welcome in advance!
BAD--All you did was tear the hook out of it's guts--that is if it was gut hooked. Gut hook fish are likely to die. You should leave the hook in and cut the line. When a university did a study on gut-hooked pan fish and put 100 in a huge tank. Two were already bleeding and they died and on the third day the bottom of the tank was covered with all the fish hooks. Fish can remove them same as we do a splinter. So don't rip out their guts. Spread the word. Catch and release with the hook left in.
Had you read the huge flashing captions, you would have noticed “This is NOT for catch and release!” We eat trout here and this is a super fast way to get a hook out, back in the water and more trout in the frying pan.
I take a stick about the same size as the one in the video and push the hook deeper. But ,i dont gut hook anymore because now i prefer circle hooks
does that work with triple hooks
Not as good with trebles. A small treble with a decent sized fish, it’ll come out!
Awesome!
Thanks!
Anit no wayyyy that works
Try it!.. As long as the line can support the weight of the fish and the fishes mouth is big enough for the stick. Works 100%, every time!
Try it on ur self and tell us how that feels I'm very intrigued
@@razah2339 you’re smart 🙄
Catch and torture lol. Could simply take a knife and slash the hook out😅
No torture. I always dispatch the fish before performing this maneuver. It’s not for catch and release purposes. This trout was bound for the frying pan regardless.
@@SilhouetteOutdoors 👍
Arent you ripping the fishes throat when doing that? The fish will basically die right?
the fish is already dead
Death at landing lol
