Just like Nelly said he wasn't a part of the group until Jive came in town and was about to sign them and he hurried up and joined the group and then he hurried up and try to take control everything. Nellie and them did all the ground work all the talent shows all the mixtapes trying to get a buzz and at the last minute Ali wants to join the group once he sees them about to get signed. And then once Nellie blows all he just wants to sit around collecting checks from Nelly and basically for doing nothing. Nobody needed Ali's input or needed a few of his bars or he needed his hooks now they could have got that from anybody at that point

From what I gathered from this interview, Ali had the mindset of (it doesn’t matter what the contract say, it doesn’t matter how much you make up front, the only thing that’s important is getting famous and then everything else will work it’s self out) Nelly had the mindset of making sure the contract and business was properly taken care of and if it wasn’t for Nelly bringing them along after he blew up, they would probably still be in St. Louis as local talent
