    Ali is full of it. Vlad ask how did he contribute to writing parts of Nelly songs and not get credit? Ali says it was for the betterment of the group, what Ali should've said was that we sold our publishing. Ali should've said if I listed myself as a writer of the song my publishing would've went to the people I signed my first contract with

    Im reading all the comments of people psychoanalyzing Ali and trying to figure out what went wrong with the group. But I just wanna give respect to Ali for his vision, comraderie , and his love and support for the younger guys. He held it down and he sounds like a man who cares about his family; He got his priorities right. Perhaps it was a blessing that he didnt get paid all the money he woulda got if he was credited the publishing dividends. Cuz in the end, he still got a good head on his shoulders and he still got his family. Salute 💪🏾

    I’ve watched both interviews. Both stories align when it comes to the major events. Nelly leaves a few things out to save time. Ali does his best job to make himself look like the “good guy” or “hero” in almost every scenario. Ali himself said Nelly’s story was 95% true. I believe the 5% that’s probably not true is Nelly not mentioning Ali writing a lot of the material for the album. Outside of that the common denominator is the D2 deal. Ali fucked up, once he signed away his publishing it was a wrap. Nelly was right, if you have so much experience with the industry and you’ve read a book why persuade them to sign that deal? Ali probably needed the money up front at the time let’s keep it real. He can sit there now and say “well someone can buy us out later” but he wasn’t thinking that at the time. He wanted that money up front. It fucked him over in the end. And none of them including Nelly had the $75k to buy them out of their publishing. Thankfully the label came through for Nelly on that one. Blame yourself Ali. And Nelly made sure y’all were still taken care of if his album sold well. By the way one of Ali’s best friends “T Love” was present during Nelly’s interview and only corrected him one time. That should tell you all you need to know.

    Ali was the lead and was shocked Cudda said Nelly is the star. He was the star locally but Nelly is what took them global. He didn't get writing credits because HE had them all in a bad publishing deals. Again, the local statement stays true as Nelly himself said D2 believed Ali was going to blow. Murphy Lee is the only one who took the opportunity and ran with it. Even his situation was driven by Nelly even not being signed to him.

    I rewatched Nelly's interview, and I must say Nelly's version makes more sense. Ali pretty much confirmed what Nelly is saying with a twist. The question that has not been asked is when did the rest of the Lunatics get out of their publishing deal? Ali can say he wrote all of the songs he wants, but if he wasn't trying to do a end around the publishing company it wouldn't be a situation. The company though Ali was going to blow and his buy out was much more than 75k. Ali was hoping that Nelly would just break bread and they would split everything behind closed doors. Nelly would have to pay taxes (money cut) and the Lunatics are living without even paying taxes.

      Ali explained it in another interview.....he knew that the first deal was trash but signed it for free studio time so the lunatics could practice recording...cause he knew he could get his publishings back for a low price if the first album was successful!ive listened to both sides and i believe esch one of them are truthful...nelly made it seem like they werent doing anything when in reality he was so hype and confident about himself that he went all the way in...some other members were a lil insecure ....poor stage presence or the rapping was not up to pal so they stayed in the back a little

      @@gwensalador4325he can say that NOW, but he wasn’t thinking about that back then. He wanted whatever money they was gonna give them up front. If he had so much experience why sign that trash deal if he knows how the industry works. If they blow up like he claims the buyout will only increase. That makes 0 sense. Ali made a bad decision but can’t own up to it.

    • @michaelg70
      @michaelg70 Год назад +5

      @@gwensalador4325 I saw and understand his point of view of signing the basic contract. If we don't blow we just signed a piece of paper, if we do we can but ourselves out. Nelly said he bought himself out for 75k, because the publishing company still thought Ali was the guy. So when Nelly's buy out 75k Ali's buy out COULD HAVE been 200k. Ali not wanting to pay that he wrote with the hope that Nelly would break bread and just cut the publishing company out. As Nelly said once he sold 350k there was a contract for the Lunatics and a separate contract for each individual. At that point why didn't every single one of them go sign and get their check? As far as I know Slo was a hype man, he could have signed a contract and never wrote a rhyme, just as well as the other members. If Nelly would have CONTINUED TO LOOK OUT for the Lunatics they would have been liabilities not assets. Let's say Nelly's booking were for 300k by the time he looks out he's down to 150k. He still has to all of the interviews and whatever else came with it to keep the name buzzing while everyone else goes home.

Nellie got lucky and had somebody in his Corner by his publishing back because they saw the writing on the wall and knew he was about to blow. Regardless, if Allie wants his money he needs to go after the publishing people not Nelly. And not only did Nelly make sure they all got solo and group deals, Nelly also brought them along to tour and do shows with him and nelly would pay them out his own pocket. Lets be honest, no promoters gaf about the st lunatics, they wanted Nelly. So nelly gave this dude a ton of opportunities and money. Ali never said shit when nelly was young and touring around the clock etc. But now that nelly is older, and he's probably not touring like he used to so these dudes aint got no bread coming in now. And Ali is delusional. Saying they put each other on. No nelly put his ass on. Nelly could've gotten another writer, or wrote more of his own lyrics. Ali think Nelly desperately needed him. Smh. Its tons of sing writers or rappers out there. Ali is replaceable. But someone like nelly, with his star power and charisma etc, cant be replaced. YOU supposed to make sure that your cut of the show money comes to you the same exact way it comes to Nelly. You ain’t supposed to wait for Nelly to pay you, you supposed to make managers, labels and promoters pay you your portion separately. If Nelly getting $150k-500k a show and you supposed to get $10k of that, you should’ve signed papers that stated that!!! Shoulda BEEN handled your publishing issues. From the gate, when they signed deals or hired management, when dealing with compensation, you supposed to have an agreement in place. You don’t wait until it reaches a point where you have to ask or wait for payment from a “group leader”. It should’ve been agreed on contractually that they receive payment the same way Nelly does. Meaning, if Nelly is receiving a check, Ali’s money should come on a check SEPARATE from Nelly’s, that way he’s not waiting to be paid by NELLY. And it should’ve been stated, if you want Nelly, you GOTTA book the ENTIRE group. Trust me, this could’ve been handled better. Listening to both Nelly and Ali tell their sides, it’s just a matter of poor communication.

    Ali is cool......he just seems bitter over the Nelly situation.....i guess unfortunately for them, Nelly was the Star star out the group .....but to Nellys defense he gave them all the opportunities to shine on there own throughout the years.....he brought them through the industry doors with him ....the other lunatics unfortunately didn't take enough advantage of the situation and put in enough effort to shine on there own at that time ....seems like they preferred to be attached to Nelly's hip and ride that wave ....20+ years later... now look...can't be mad now because they decided to put all there eggs into the nelly basket (another man) and now they are all 40+ and people grew apart, and they obviously didn't take care of there BUSINESS earlier when the opportunities were available to them...just my opinion

    Unfortunately they need to squash all this and get back to being friends at least. Ive listened to both sides it sounds Nelly looked out for years paying above market because of friends and loyalty. And Ali said I wanted to be dame dash and Nelly stopped me from eating, Ali is to scatter brained and not a boss or leader. Meaning dame dash hustles like he broke. You said you don't need much and wanna chill in the pool and smoke cigarettes etc in some other interview. Plus you claim you write country grammar and free city but when alis album is ready to come you flop that makes no sense to me. Take responsibility for your album you claim no one helped I doubt that I'm sure the lunatics wanted to help but your ego got in the way thinking your this master writer. To me it sounds the best work came out when all the lunatics wrote for the album that was coming up. Meaning you were a crew and I'm sure hung out in studio helping write Nelly album Murphy album Ali album etc. When Ali did a album with big gipp it flopped. If Ali wanted to get into management or label owner do that shit you met some powerful people over the years that could guide you and you could learn from but like you said Ali you like being at home instead of networking. So I feel Ali in some ways but he's his own enemy and to be honest Nelly held it down for years compared to other groups just saying. I'm on Nelly side just a little more.

I love Heavy Starch, I love Kinfolk. They're great albums I still listen to to this day. But they ain't nowhere near Country Grammar. How come 2 of this man's releases only reach the talent that is Country Grammar as a whole at the slightest when Nelly raps a part on your god damn song as a feature? Lyrics wise, melody wise, delivery wise. Everything. Country Grammar is St. Lunatics and you can feel Ali never wanted to be part of it. He even said some of his music was good. Nelly was right, how you help the group but your shit flopped. Ali did not start the group. Ali fucked them up, they was wayyyyy more loyal to Ali than Nelly. Nelly said they all contributed to country grammar, but didn't wanna say nothing because that terrible deal they signed, D2 would have taken all they money. I guarantee Ali got paid for getting all them to sign! Nigga break it down like Nelly did. And you was dogging Luda because of Chingy, but how you got more loyalty to Chingy, than the nigga you breaking bread with. I don't get it. It's hard listening to Ali. He got away with it when we did business together, but I caught on within 2 months. And I’m not even a celebrity. People with bad intentions just have bad intentions regardless. Sounds like Ali has the desire or need to be needed or the leader. When someone else takes over it’s a hard pill to swallow. With the guy he’s mentoring now he said he likes that he’s constantly texting and calling him. Sounds like he likes being the head and only the head since he was always the tail since he’s the youngest of 7.

      Exactly. It's almost like by Nelly basically taking the lead it makes Ali feel like a failure. He needs somebody to Pat him on the back and make him feel like he's the man for himself to be able to function

    Funny how Ali said no bad lyrics. No disrespecting women. No guns or drugs. Yet he says "you can find me in st loui, where we sell dope and fck hoes all day" smh
