0:55 bro knew months before anyone else 😳
For all the people needing to know sizes.
Oil Galley Plug - 5/16” Allen
Oil screw in plug - 17mm
Oil screw in sensor - 15/16”
Used a 6” extension with no issue.
Thank you for that!
Thanks for this video. Just bought one, and an OP gauge is priority #1.
Thanks for watching!
Excited for your next track day! Can’t wait to hear back on that CF drive shaft
On top of the oil pressure gauge I’d suggest a baffled oil pan because at the end of the day a subaru is a subaru
This Saturday the track video comes out.. we had some issues in the beginning but turned out great at the end.
Great vid man! After seeing this I’m def getting one
Awesome, thank you!
Nice install video.
Thanks!
Great video, very well explained, thanks! I just got finished installing one. Took about 2 hours. Found it easier to remove all the left dash around the a/c vent to get more space to work. Took the most time getting the pod to snap into place without breaking it. Like you said, get the windshield side in first then use a flat head or pry tool to shoe in the front side. Only thing I wonder about is the opening in the boot through the fire wall where the sensor wires go. Its closed but not sealed. Not sure if that will cause any problems. Anyway, we'll see how those those right handers go.
Thank you! Good luck going right 😂 stock oiling system?
@@phelpsgarage4202 I have a Color Fittings oil cooler installed to reduce the fry oil in the pan😉. Dropping the pan, RTV clean out and reseal at some point. Waiting to see if a modified oil pan baffel will help solve the problem before going through the hassle of removing the pan twice. It appears so far, the data doesn’t support the current baffles out there doing much (#900BRZ) I think we are all crossing our fingers that a solution will be found, my bets are it will. We are a smart and passionate community of enthusiasts.
@@K86UP I think so too! I just hate waiting 😫
Any chance you could link all the parts you utilized? I see you linked the 3d mount which is helpful, but what about the other parts. Thank you
Hi there! Thank you for this great video. What wrench did you use to remove factory plug from engine?
I already saw it, thank you!
Thank you for the video. Did you compare the AEM Oil pressure gauge with the AEM X Series before deciding on the AEM?
No I did not
Thanks for the vid Rob! I was curious once this is installed, can this data be captured/linked to track addict as data via OBD dongle?
Good question! I’m not sure to be honest. I just keep my eyes on it
@@phelpsgarage4202 i saw another gr86 owner and he somehow was able to display his live oil pressure data during track session 😅 I will do some further digging 😁 hope all is well sir!
@@FujiboHeavy same here. Check the facebook group. Thank you, and you as well
did you torque the galley plug before installing the oil pressure sensor onto it. or did u hand tighten them both together and then torqued everything at once?
I forget what I did to be honest.. I believe I did torque the two together and then installed it to the block.
Thanks for the instructions. I'm doing the same thing with all the same stuff but my guage is loose in the pod. I tried using the rubber band but then it won't even fit. Did you have any of these issues?
I believe I’m using the black rubber band that came with it. I can’t get it all the way in with it either, but it’s in far enough to where it doesn’t move.
Okay then. I'm not crazy. Thanks for the reply
@@johnsorensen7684 I'm using 3M double-sided tape.
What you run it for a daily use or would you just recommend it for only track use ? Let me know I kinda want to do it but I use only for daily not tracking it rn also another question lmao do you have to run with a oil cooler to set the gauge ?
If you’re not tracking it I wouldn’t worry about it. No, you do not need a oil cooler to use the gauge.
Appreciate it bro I really do always liked the look of the gauge so I’m gonna just go for it if possible can you list the website you bought from or is it just universal

I watched the video but I don’t quite get how it gets the data. Is the sensor thing screwed where the oil filter would normally be installed?
I ask because I’m curious how invasive this is in case of warranty. IE how easy will it be for Toyota to say “oh you installed a gauge, you messed with the oil system. Denied”
I put it on top of the block. You can easily remove it and plug it, and they would never know.
Do you know what the brown and white wires are for?
I believe they would go to a AEM ECU if you had one.
How’d you get the wire through the firewall grommet? I’m having trouble seeing how it’ll fit on my car.
I pull the grommet out and ran the wire through it
@@phelpsgarage4202 Hah that's how I ended up doing it. Quite a pain to retape the loom to the grommet and stuff but yeah that was the only option for me.
Out of curiosity, what did you torque the adapter down to? I'm having trouble preventing weeping but obviously don't want to over torque it.
@@Ch3mG33k Did you use threading tape or thread sealant?
Where did you purchase the gauge from
Import image racing
What oil psi does the gauge read after the engine reaches operating temp on idle?
Around 20ish psi.
@@phelpsgarage4202 is that with 0w20 oil ?
@@mannytheone8084 5w30 I don’t ever drive it much on the street and the more I think about it, it’s probably high 20s
@@phelpsgarage4202 thank you, thank you, I will continue to watch your channel.
@@phelpsgarage4202is this 24 psi good or bad ?
Got any torque specs?
No sorry I don’t
what torque solution plug is that? the one im seeing its for EJ engine @@phelpsgarage4202
