The how is clear. Buddy left a system designed around a slow moving center, and into a system designed for a small movement shooter as its focus. The warriors are also adept at covering the deficiencies of a small offensive guard that is poor defensively. (curry has gotten better as a defender over time, but other guards in their system have been horrible over the years, klay the last 2 years, pool, ect). So basicly, he sloted into a roll that was designed to maximize his talents and minimize his weaknesses.....and its a proven system, that has gotten the warriors 4 championships.

And if you start uping the minutes for better seeding and one or two of your stars get dinged up what happens? Take a deep dive into the history of the 73 win Warriors. I'd rather stand pat, use our talented and largely youthful depth to keep the minutes down for Steph, Dray and Wiggs. It's load management without necessarily full nights off but avoiding serious "stress" injury so you are loaded for the playoffs and with experienced legs off the bench. A 3 or 6 seed so you face a 2 in the semis and 1 not until the conference finals. Throw the best of your bench players away for Giannis and then have him on the floor holding the back of his calf (visions of KD?) and you have no future with no bench or draft picks. I want to stay out of the kitchen and see this team play things out. Save our stars to be able to do their thing in the playoffs with experienced youthful talent. Strength in numbers.

Buddy has always been slept on and treated like an afterthought which makes no sense in this nba era with open spacing and 3s.. it’s never made any sense to me. Yeah his defense is awful and doesn’t create his own shot but he’s still valuable to me
