Garage Built Hondas Do you have any suggestions for correcting a code 9 CEL after doing this swap? Ive checked all wiring and solder connections, the pinouts are correct, have tried two brand new distributors, and three different ECUs (two pm6, and a pr4), and nothing will get rid of the code. The car also drives and starts just fine, and pulls smoothly all the way to redline. Have searched forums for days with no answers. Any help is greatly appreciated!

I'd try whichever distributors you have at your disposal. Is your replacement a rebuilt or brand new? Either way some just are crappy right out of the box.
I put the old distributor back on and the code goes away, hmm. But with that one it didn't want to hold an idle and hesitates. In park it's fine but in drive at stop lights it dies.

Thanks for the helpful vids. Ended up buying a D15B7 with a blown head gasket and it had a PM6 manifold. Dont have a resistor box so i may use high impedance injectors from OBD1-2? Whatever is cheaper.
Hey I've run into the same issue. I dont have a resistor box in my crx i also have high impedance injector so im confused as to where to run the second wire.
What did you use to connect the MPFI intake manifold to the stock air box? Looking to do the same on mine, but it seems all of the OEM intake pipes I've seen are too long. Also not finding much info anywhere on the web. D16Z6 intake manifold to a stock DX air box for reference.
+Angel Gomez yes, it was a plug similar to the resistor box plug, and you're correct, just so I can unclip it. The wire from the resistor box goes to A15 on the ECU.
Garage Built Hondas finally caught a glimpse of what I was confused about, the resistor has a pigtail with 4 red ones that are the injectors and one yellow that’s the A15.
Hi bro, Im looking for the oxygen sensor wire, what I know is that comes from the distribuidor wires, can you tell me what color is it please? I want to connect it to the Oxygen sensor because the wire is hanging
For the distributor I can just buy the adapter harness and not have to worry about the wiring you showed that leaded to having to wire those 2 blue wires correct ?
Hate to ask this as this question may sound dumb but where can I get the mpfi distributor plug from? I live in mn and have been searching everywhere for one and can't find one anywhere
I have a 1990 DX Civic Hatch with a H22a swap. I’m having a Code 4 being thrown and the car does not like to rev up. I switched C1 to B10 and C2 to B12 just like your video shows, but I’m thinking I need to put them back how they were originally? Any help will be appreciated I cannot figure this one out I’ve tried everything even new distributor and checked my wiring over and over again.
+JTK Performance Try using shielded wire. Those wires are normally shielded thus possibly causing the CEL. I didn't use it and am ok, but did have to use shielded wire on a friend mpfi swap once.
If one were to use OBD1 parts how much extra hp could be coaxed out of a good tune? Or is it worth the extra trouble? I have my choice (i have both distributors and ECUs) of OBD0 or OBD1. I would have to buy the harness and have the ECU chipped.

Probably the wrong place to ask this question but I want wondering if it just had to be a a6 intake or could it be from a b series also can't find an a6 anywhere but have access to any b series intake I could think of
A b series IM won’t fit, I tried one for a b16, no go. But other d series intakes will fit. I couldn’t find an a6 manifold so I used one from a d15b7 (93-95 civic). Much easier to find. A y8 manifold would also work but might be overkill for the d15b1 or b2.
tried to do the conversion but I ran into a little doozy I bought a d16a6 dizzy and the wires I have are 2 blue/green, orange/blue, white/blue, green/yellow, orange, white wires which wires go to which I'm confused
I'll have to take a look on my next day off, maybe during the middle of next week. In the meantime search "dpfi mpfi distributor wiring" on google. You may bump into the wiring schematic.

Question: I'm using a 91 crx si (d16a) engine harness on my 91dx Honda wagon. All the plugs matches but the last plug that plugs up to the firewall. What can I do to make it work? Help!
Use your original harness. Your doing this the hard way. Unless you want to find out and depin the harness and figure that out. I can't help you out, I have no experience doing that nor would I try to.
Hey Jon so everything on my LS works except for my injectors there's fuel to the rail and I have spark just not the injectors aren't shooting any advice
Yes they are so the only way it shoots fuel is if all 5 wires that run to resistor box are touching each other??🤔🤔 weird what do you think? Is there a special way to hook up resistor box
Hey man I’ve been wanting to get into the Honda crowd and I found a good deal on a 1990 hf hatchback it’s a 4speed and has 70 HP I want to do a b20 swap but I really suck at wiring would you be able to sell me wiring harness? I’m pretty sure I can do the swap if I can get the wiring harness. If you have any tips or advice let me know this will be my first project car and also keep up the great videos
Thanks! I don't personally make the harness but for $250ish you can get a really nice one that will save you a big headache. Not really anything special to do this swap. If you have the correct parts it's pretty straightforward. The DPFI to MPFI setup is the hardest part but the harness makes short work of it. Check this video here, my friend is using this harness. ruclips.net/video/ANwzuh6C7Q0/видео.html
I have a quick question, i have an obd 2 motor and my car is obd0 can i just replace the distrubitor with an obd0 one for a b18? i also dont want to wire the 4 wire 02 sensor and was wondering if i could just swap the 1 wire off my d16b?
so i did everything you had showed, but i am running obd2 injectors, i had to cut the pins off the 4 wires that was pulled out and after everything was said and done i was missing one pin for the distributor, is there another pin i can use? i know that two plugs from the manifold are now useless so in theory i should be able to depin those wires and steal the pins?
Im not 100% sure, but it should be very similar if not exactly the same. If you can find the 90-91 Integra distributor pinout, you could compared it to that of the MPFI 88-91 civics/crxs.
Hey guys I dropped a d16y8 into my ef hatch , it had a d15b1 got it to run but had an idle and Later noticed when using the d15 harness and intake manifold there’s a part on the IM that isint blocked off any ways I can resolve ?
Hey Jon, just recently completed an MPFI conversion on my '90 Civic Hatch. It idled a bit rough at first, but started driving okay. After about twice around the block it started breaking up, the CEL came on, and it had a rev limit of about 3-3500k. Got it back home alright, CEL was only code 4 for crank position sensor. I tripled checked the wiring at the distributor pigtails and ECU harness. All seems good in the wiring. Tried a reman'd distributor, it was fixed for about 2 blocks and then the exact problem came right back. Third distributor lasted about 2.5 miles. Replacing the distributor seems to fix the problem until it's driven for over 10 minutes. Any ideas?
Double check the wiring for the distributor. That's the only thing I can think of and a strange problem I have never encountered. Maybe a wire is crossed shorting out the distributor.
@@GarageBuiltHondas Finally got my hands on a multimeter. I have good continuity on all of my distributor wires from ECU to pigtail. The newest distributor tests 400-450 ohms on CKP, TDC, and CYL which I believe is in spec. I looked inside my ECU today and found a small burn mark at positions D5 and C15+. Could this be my issue? Fried ECU?
Found another ECU with no apparent damage. It did get rid of code 8, but still getting code 4. I notice that the factory distributor harness has all the sensor wires shielded. The two wires for the CKP(Blu/Yel and Blu/Grn) I just ran straight to the firewall grommet. Is that a problem? How are your 2 extra distributor wires routed?
Damn bro my car won't start can u help me out. Seems it not getting any spark black yellow wire is getting power from ignition. Swapped dizzys my friends work. The b10 b12 and c 1 c2 wire are in place. But the cut and splice every wire to an obd2b dizzy plug. Not sure if they mess the wiring up. Any help would be great thanks
Garage Built Hondas it is running now but very sluggish. No check engine light. When I move the dizzy back and forth it seems like the timing is everywhere on the crank with timing light. I will line up with the middle mark. But can jump around. Not sure if its cause the idle the longer it runs the worst it gets. No check engine. I'm not sure
Hi jon, my name is nick and i have a 91 civic hatch that i have converted to mpfi looking at your vids. I have bought a distributor and a step up harness to run a obd1 ecu. I have done everything in your vid plus research. Im getting a code 4 and car shuts off. Please help if you know of anything that can be giving me problems. Thanks man.
Hi, just finished putting it back on time, it was off on the bottom. It turned on like a champ. But its still giving me the code 4 and it redlines about 2500
+oscar gee Yes, but you'll need the correct cable that goes from the transmission to the throttle body, as well as the brackets. I doubt they are the same since the manifolds are so different from one another.
Garage Built Hondas okay because I found some p6m ecus on eBay for 60-100$ an it was off a 91 civic wagon 4x4 I didn't know if it would make a difference if it wasn't off a si crx
+RChaos No, that's perfect. The RT wagon had the same engine as the Si models with the D16A6. It just had a different transmission and of course the drivetrain for the 4wd.
i have a 91 crx si complete but the d16a6 engine is bad found a 15b2 dpfi ..need help wonder if its similar even tho i all ready have si ecu intake an all?
You won't do anything for wiring. All you will do is put everything from the A6 engine (intake manifold, distributor, transmission, exhaust manifold) and transfer it to the b2 engine and reinstall.
This is an excellent swap for anyone looking into getting it done. Jon does a great job showing you everything you need to know.
Thanks, loving this swap on the wagon!

hey have you ever done a cank seal on an ef? I'm trying to but can't get the crank pulley off, and there is no way to get a pulley remover on it, and I haven't seen any videos that are ef specific
Yes, I usually use an impact gun to take off the bolt to the pulley. It's rare I can get it off otherwise.
So I followed your video to the tee but on my DX harness the distributor wiring is not orange it is white do you have any ideas why. And under the dash it was missing the B12 wire the white and red wire so im very confused any help is appreciated
No idea. What happened when you finished wiring it up?
Question: I'm using a 91 crx si (d16a) engine harness on my 91dx Honda wagon. All the plugs matches but the last plug that plugs up to the firewall. What can I do to make it work? Help!
Use your original harness. Your doing this the hard way. Unless you want to find out and depin the harness and figure that out. I can't help you out, I have no experience doing that nor would I try to.
What throttle cable you use ?
I ordered a brand new 91 Civic Si cable.
Hey Jon so everything on my LS works except for my injectors there's fuel to the rail and I have spark just not the injectors aren't shooting any advice
Are they wired directly to the ECU? They should go to A1,3,5,7 for the injectors respectively at the ECU.
Yes they are so the only way it shoots fuel is if all 5 wires that run to resistor box are touching each other??🤔🤔 weird what do you think? Is there a special way to hook up resistor box
OMAR HERNANDEZ obd1 injectors would need the non power wires to be all bundled together. You'll need obd0 injectors to use the resistor box.
Jon Widmer I'll make a video so I can show you
Hey man I’ve been wanting to get into the Honda crowd and I found a good deal on a 1990 hf hatchback it’s a 4speed and has 70 HP I want to do a b20 swap but I really suck at wiring would you be able to sell me wiring harness? I’m pretty sure I can do the swap if I can get the wiring harness. If you have any tips or advice let me know this will be my first project car and also keep up the great videos
Thanks!
I don't personally make the harness but for $250ish you can get a really nice one that will save you a big headache.
Not really anything special to do this swap. If you have the correct parts it's pretty straightforward. The DPFI to MPFI setup is the hardest part but the harness makes short work of it. Check this video here, my friend is using this harness. ruclips.net/video/ANwzuh6C7Q0/видео.html
How did you find the mpfi plug for the dizzy? I’m having a hard time finding one for my b series swap in my 1991 ef hatch
Junkyard
I have a wire from my harness that I don't know where it goes. is there a way I can't send you a picture or anything to find out where it goes??
My email. Go to the about section of my RUclips page and it has it there.
the intake manifold gasket doesnt need to be sealed right?
Sealed? You definitely want it to have a nice seal otherwise you will have a vacuum leak.
I have a quick question, i have an obd 2 motor and my car is obd0 can i just replace the distrubitor with an obd0 one for a b18? i also dont want to wire the 4 wire 02 sensor and was wondering if i could just swap the 1 wire off my d16b?
You're correct in all questions! 👍
so i did everything you had showed, but i am running obd2 injectors, i had to cut the pins off the 4 wires that was pulled out and after everything was said and done i was missing one pin for the distributor, is there another pin i can use? i know that two plugs from the manifold are now useless so in theory i should be able to depin those wires and steal the pins?
Yes that'll work for the pins.
Is the pinout of the round connector of OBD0 MPFI Civic the same as that of OBD0 integra?
Im not 100% sure, but it should be very similar if not exactly the same. If you can find the 90-91 Integra distributor pinout, you could compared it to that of the MPFI 88-91 civics/crxs.
I have a 1989 HF that was b15d7 swapped but it still has the pm8 ecu should i replace it with pm6 to take advantage of the MPFI
Just the longblock was swapped? If it's still using the original HF parts, the pm6 ecu won't make a difference.
@@GarageBuiltHondas so what more should I change to get more power out of the engine
Everything that's not HF related.
@@GarageBuiltHondas thanks it’s a huge help
Where are you from? I want purchase this items
Texas. Check ebay
Hey guys I dropped a d16y8 into my ef hatch , it had a d15b1 got it to run but had an idle and Later noticed when using the d15 harness and intake manifold there’s a part on the IM that isint blocked off any ways I can resolve ?
You'll need to be more specific. I have no idea what this "part" is.
@@GarageBuiltHondas nvm I got it thanks
I need to change my distributor for mpfi or i can use the same that i have?
You'll need to change it.
Hey man cant find the injectors on my 1991 civic DX mine doesnt have that PGM
Google it. They are right there. Easy to see.
@@GarageBuiltHondas i think they are hide
Do I need the injector resistor box for obd2 injectors or no
+Killa Chris you're not staying obd0 right?
Do i of to change my distributer
Do I have to T the hose coming from the iacv?
It's not necessary unless you encountered an issue like I did.
@@GarageBuiltHondas thank u bro
So you're using an obd2b distributor?
Garage Built Hondas yes call or text me if you can bro. I'm off today wanna figure this out. 8175266917
Garage Built Hondas let me know if u can help me out today bud. I'll throw u cash through PayPal if u can help me out
Did you get to working on this. I didn't see your reply when you first left it sorry. I get so many messages across all my videos.
I have a 1991 hatch dual point, i am going to convert to full injection with a p06 intake. We're can I order online the fuel hose?
You can't. It's discontinued. You'll have to find it used on eBay or a local part out.
Can i get one custom?
I'm sure your could have one made.
@@GarageBuiltHondas Thanks very much.
Can i use the Acura integra 94-01 fuel hose?
Hey quick question can u use a 90 93 da distributor to do this?
No.
Make a video on how to delete ac on a ef
Next time I get a chance I will!
Garage Built Hondas yes!
+Boosted Fool If I get a chance I will!
Swapped ecu obd0 switch resistor box switched injectors Switch injector clip 😒😒 need help
Did you hook up the charcoal canister or no
+Killa Chris yes!
Ok I didn't see where you hooked it up at though
I was meaning the red braided hose coming from the canister
+Killa Chris I hooked it up to the throttle body where it normally goes. It's the long nipple that sticks out.
Ok I see where you put it I'm sorry to ask so many questions though trying to figure out where the canister hose go on a z6 mani that's all
Hi jon, my name is nick and i have a 91 civic hatch that i have converted to mpfi looking at your vids. I have bought a distributor and a step up harness to run a obd1 ecu. I have done everything in your vid plus research. Im getting a code 4 and car shuts off. Please help if you know of anything that can be giving me problems. Thanks man.
Fix the code 4 (CKP Sensor) first and go from there.
Hi, just finished putting it back on time, it was off on the bottom. It turned on like a champ. But its still giving me the code 4 and it redlines about 2500
Because of the code 4.
Now what was the benifit of this swap again?
Better acceleration, a little more power, more fun to drive. The Dual Port setup is ungodly slow.
Garage Built Hondas dpfi d15s make stock ls swaps look like GSRs.
+Boosted Fool haha
Garage Built Hondas Do you know the exact power increase from this?
+Lane Browning 10-11 hp
Would this work with a z6 intake manifold on a d15b2?
Yes
Does it work with PM5 ecu's. ? Thanks
No
Its the same if it a auto tran too or no ?
+oscar gee Yes, but you'll need the correct cable that goes from the transmission to the throttle body, as well as the brackets. I doubt they are the same since the manifolds are so different from one another.
Garage Built Hondas okay thank you and u should do a video on how to do one on auto transmission please it would hlep me out a lot
+oscar gee I don't have a vehicle to perform one on, sorry.
If I'm putting a whole d16y7 motor in my 91 civic std would I use the pm6 also for the dpfi to mpfi conversion?
+RChaos it would be easier, unless you are going to convert to obd1 or obd2.
Garage Built Hondas sweet thanks a lot!! I'll be watching your videos to do my own swap!
+RChaos sounds good, good luck!!
Where does that white/red wire lead to?
No idea which one you're talking about.
@@GarageBuiltHondas on the ecu harness side B connector. I think it’s either b10 or b12.
I don't recall. Look up "obd0 Honda ECU pinouts" and you should be able to find what all wires go to.
Does an 88 crx distributor fit an 88 civic dx?
If the engines are the same.
@@GarageBuiltHondas okay so I figured out my vehicle has a d16a8 engine in it. Any ideas on the correct distributer?
I'm unsure. Google which distributor for a d16a8.
i have a 91 crx si complete but the d16a6 engine is bad found a 15b2 dpfi ..need help wonder if its similar even tho i all ready have si ecu intake an all?
Yes, that motor will bolt up directly in place of the A6 engine.
+Jon Widmer so if understand corectly i understand it bolts up an switch everything over do i still follow this stepts after as far as the harness ..
+Jon Widmer or just switch everything over..since is allready mpfi..
You won't do anything for wiring. All you will do is put everything from the A6 engine (intake manifold, distributor, transmission, exhaust manifold) and transfer it to the b2 engine and reinstall.
+Jon Widmer sweet thanks so much very helpfull..
I’ve got a engine and intake out of a 95 dx what do I need to do to get it in a crx up and running
+BRENDAJASON1 is it complete?
Garage Built Hondas yes I’ve got the engine which is a d15b with the intake attached
Garage Built Hondas plus the computer but it’s a auto computer.
+BRENDAJASON1 what obd are you planning on running?
Garage Built Hondas i quess the obdo1 without the resister box
why you need to change the distributor?
Because they are different. Dpfi doesn't work for the mpfi setup.
my engine is 1.5 lsi 90cv but in the distributor i dont have 6 wires i have 5 wires... why is it different?
do i need the crx distributor?
and the ecu can i use p04?
Fill me in on the specs of the lsi, I don't know anything about it.
I put everything on and I'm getting a tdc code how do I fix that
+Killa Chris TDC means distributor needs to be replaced 95% of the time.
Ok kind of figured that but could the ecu be sending off the tdc code or no
+Killa Chris doesn't look like it. The TDC sensor is in the distributor and cannot be swapped out unfortunately.
who can help me with my swap my d15b2 dp blew up. im trying to put in a d15b8 i have a p05 ecu, obd0 to obd1 jumper harness any help would be great
