I'm hoping to do the MPFI swap on my 91 hatch in a month or so, and your videos are very helpful and informative. Thank you from the bottom of my black heart.
Amazing work again, Jon! I watch your videos with more relish than programs on TV. Maybe that's a weird reference, but I am older, so I grew up before there was internet. Anyway, watching you do car work, is making me think I should call the cable company and cancel my TV subscription. Seriously, though, your vids are inspiring. Keep it up!
Haha, awesome!! I'm like you, I don't spend a whole lot of time watching TV, usually only when I'm too tired to do anything else and the wife wants to just hang out I'll plop down on the couch and respond to some RUclips comments!! 😀
thanks for the video! very informative and I'm looking forward to the completed project. I have an 91 Hatch and I'll eventually do a mini me with MPFI and definitely will use this video to help me!
Hey, I know I'm a little late to the party, but this is my daily driver. If I were to do this, should I plan on taking a day or a weekend to do this, assuming I had the proper tools? Your videos rock and I re-watch memorize it so I don't mess up.
Lex Thanks Lex, much appreciated. Definitely plan for a weekend, especially for a first time dpfi/mpfi swap. You could probably have all of mechanical work done in 2-4 hours (removal of IM and reinstall) but I personally feel the wiring takes the longest. The cutting, checking lengths, and soldering, and looming is time consuming. It took me about 1.5 hours to remove the IM, then I spent 2 whole afternoons (10am -5pm) doing the install of all the parts and wiring.
You guys i cant find that hose for that style pcv valve, ive checked online and all i can find are thinner lines but that top brass/metal pcv valve is wide and needs that chunky hose to go with it
Great video man! Curious on what you will really gain by the switch? I have a check engine light with 16 blinks. (Fuel injector) comes on intermittently going to replace the injectors of course but heard about this swap. Is it really worth it or just for fun?
Quick question in that right connection on the engine harness haves 3 pugs 2 big ones and 1 smaller one what is that small one for it ? And where those cables goin to ? Any help Mpfi 2 injections wires 2 dizzy wires Is that right ?
I don't understand your questions. Which cables? Mpfi requires all 4 injector wires. And you have to swap the pins around from dpfi to mpfi and add 2 wires to the distributor.
Hey man, I’m really struggling to find info online about where the injectors are on this system and how to remove them. I know this is about a swap but I was wondering if you had insight on how to find/replace the injectors for this motor and fuel system
tomo las palomitas y no entiendo mucho lo que dices pero la explicación gráfica es lo que necesitaba, increíble amigo, con esta conversión que ganas? HP O bajar el consumo o ambas? aparte si son HP cuantos CABALLOS pretendes ganar? muchas gracias saludos desde España With this conversion you win? HP or lower consumption or both? Apart if they are HP how many HORSES do you intend to win? Many thanks greetings from spain
I have a base model 88 civic hatch that still has DPFI and I feel like after I let go of the gas pedal the car wold still accelerate a little. I put it in neutral and hit it to rev limiter and I CRINGED when it would stay up there for like 2 seconds haha. is it normal for it to be so delayed?
That's not normal. I'd check your throttle cable. It might need replacing. I've seen some that get stuck like that. I doubt it's the throttle plate but you can disconnect the cable and check the plate as well. It might be dirty inside the TB.
Question Jon, can i swap the Manifold to a any other Manifold?? or does it have to be that sameone? Or what can i swap my honda civic wagon 1989 DPFI into what car year of manifold ?
Jon Widmer , do you think i can get a list of all the items i need to swap into a MPFI ? I apologize my first sentence doesnt make sence. its suppose to be the question for my honda wago. Does it matter if the MPFI comes off a honda ex 2000 vtec stock engine?
Depends on budget. If you're pockets are deep, the go K. If you're trying to build on more of a budget, then the b20 is a much less expensive alternative.
That's entirely up to you. The K is obviously a superior engine, but it depends on what you want out of the car. With the B20 you'll have a lot more money left over after the swap to upgrade a lot of other areas of the car like suspension which is most important to me.
Colorado Macbay You can remove it, just run that line off of the firewall nipple down to the bottom of the engine bay otherwise the gas fumes will fill the engine bay possibly making their way into the cabin. Many people don't recommend removing it because it is an emissions part. Do you still have emissions testing in your state?
Hey I need some advice. I also want to convert my 1990 Honda Civic from carburetor to fuel injection. I’m using a 1996 Honda Civic intake, throttle body and intake. What else would I need? Do I need the resistor box? Please let me know
Jon when do you think you could send me resistor box I got the money and trying to get you some subs because I want more people to see how awesome this cars 🚗 are
Just made my second dual point to multiport swap today using this play list ..
Love these videos are out there .
Gbh for the win!
GBH Videos are the best. What an encyclopedia.
Awesome video. it was about time someone explained this in good detail. I have never done this conversion.
Thanks Felix! I'm hoping I make it easy to understand it perform it completely start to finish!
Another great upload! I look forward more to your RUclips videos than TV shows
Aw man, so awesome, and so appreciated Dale!

You got it! 👍

Great video! def cant wait for part 2 the install.. since im hesitant for the A6 mini swap on my EE
Thanks, that part will be out soon!
Great upload. I have considered this in my '89 DX automatic with a '91jdm D16A6 as when I bought the car it came with DPFI
You definitely should if you already have the a6 engine. It'll feel really good going to the MPFI setup.
thanks for the video! very informative and I'm looking forward to the completed project. I have an 91 Hatch and I'll eventually do a mini me with MPFI and definitely will use this video to help me!
You're welcome! Thanks for being here and watching!
Patiently waiting for the next part, I'll need to say it again, great videos man 👌👍
Always appreciate it Kevin!
can you please go in depth with the wiring in the next video (Mainly the injectors, res. box, and ecu wiring).... Great video!
I got you covered!! 😀
Yess love the video man can't wait to see the install
Very soon Dj!
when u doing part 2 man that's sick i may do this to my next build
Very soon, finishing up editing the videos within the next few days!
I just did this mpfi swap I wish I had your videos then lol it was a pain for me
Sorry I'm late!! did you get it running well?
Overall yea I fried a ecu in the process lol oh well can't wait to see the dyno results
rich cowles lol you live and learn!! Hopefully makes like 10 extra HP!
It feels a lot better stronger like a happier car
rich cowles agreed, I love the difference!
Thanks, really helped appreciate the step by step made everything much easier
You're welcome, good luck!!
thanks for showing us how to disconnect the wire harness, i always have trouble removing it
Sweet, glad that small part helps!! Sometimes those little things are pesky as hell!
your honda knowledge is some of the best on youtube.. should try to collaborate with Honda Street Garage or boostedboiz..
Would love to, but we are all pretty far from one another!
Thanks for sharing this video.
Thank you for watching.

Go to an auto parts store and find the size you need.

Hi, where is the PVC valve connected ? I see one side is on top but where is the other side? Thank you for your videos
Breather box on the back of the engine.
@@GarageBuiltHondas Do you have any picture of it please
No
@@GarageBuiltHondas Ok I´ll fugure it out, thank you .
Great clip

Maybe like 10 HP tops. But it'll accelerate a lot quicker and be more fun to drive.
ok perfct
hey bro are you gonna put a second part to this
Yes, it'll be published Saturday 10am MST.
I’m going to start a project, 94 civic sedan, it has dual point , and I want to make it turbo at some point, do I have to change this??
Yes. DPFI isn't for power at all, only fuel efficiency.

Nightlight You can use most of the 88-00 civic manifolds. You will need to convert to MPFI to use a different manifold though.
Jon Widmer , do you think i can get a list of all the items i need to swap into a MPFI ? I apologize my first sentence doesnt make sence. its suppose to be the question for my honda wago. Does it matter if the MPFI comes off a honda ex 2000 vtec stock engine?

great video but im going to build a 1992eg hatch and i dont know what to go with a k24 or b20 what is your opinion ot what engine should i go with
Depends on budget. If you're pockets are deep, the go K. If you're trying to build on more of a budget, then the b20 is a much less expensive alternative.
Jon Widmer I'm a have about 7 or 8 thousand to work with what should I go with
That's entirely up to you. The K is obviously a superior engine, but it depends on what you want out of the car. With the B20 you'll have a lot more money left over after the swap to upgrade a lot of other areas of the car like suspension which is most important to me.
How much would y’all charge for a 88-crx harness to a d16y8
I don't make and sell harnesses, sorry.
I'm planning on doing a depot removal. when I do so what do I do with the vacuum lines? cap them? and is the depot really needed?
Capping them should work. Why do you want to remove?
to clean up the fire wall and have less objects around the motor. what about the charcoal canister can that be removed??
Colorado Macbay You can remove it, just run that line off of the firewall nipple down to the bottom of the engine bay otherwise the gas fumes will fill the engine bay possibly making their way into the cabin. Many people don't recommend removing it because it is an emissions part. Do you still have emissions testing in your state?
no. I'm in south Carolina. we do not have emission testing. but which nipple? that small line from the firewall?
What are the 2 coolant hoses you cut called? I need to get them for my wagon.
They are all heater hoses.
@@GarageBuiltHondas Where can I purchase those hoses at?
At your local auto parts store. They will have a lot of them in stock and they are molded to fit like OEM.
Hey I need some advice. I also want to convert my 1990 Honda Civic from carburetor to fuel injection. I’m using a 1996 Honda Civic intake, throttle body and intake. What else would I need? Do I need the resistor box? Please let me know
Depends on what obd you're going.
Garage Built Hondas I want to go withe the same ecu I have
Which ecu is it?
Garage Built Hondas it’s say Z1
What's the entire number across the ECU?
Video looks great, you using a dslr camera?
Similar, but its actual a mirrorless.
Is your strut top nut about to come off?
Doubt it. Never did while I had it, hopefully it's still on there for the new owner.
thank you sir
