Shaaak every time I watch your videos I’m more and more drawn to your calmness and your Morgan freeman voice I could listen to all day as when I’m doing my own work on my car it’s normally a lot of swearing 😂 great video mate and keep up the good work ❤
Hi nice video … I have had my 2010 xf from new ( longest car I have had) I do everything myself on it …. Can I just point something out about your brakes install ….. all xf need to have brakes calibrated which you seam to of miss doing ….. it’s simple …. Disconnect battery and leave for 10 minutes..reconnect and sit in drivers seat .. switch on ignition without starting car and instructions will come up on dash …. Pull hand brake and press foot brake same time ……. But the problem with xf is they don’t hold there value as people think there expensive to run but they are not … parts are cheaper from Jaguar themselves that places like Europarts …… did you know you can check the history of the can by its hidden dash secret button ….. press satnav … and put your finger top of screen in middle and press … it then goes into jaguar diagnostic mode ….. nice job with your car I’ll be keeping mine till it dies
In the x260 you can just pull the front of the undertray back. It is flexible. You don’t need to remove the entire undertray. The bolts are often corroded.
Fantastic video! I like the style of the videos, honest and tell us the most important bits, the numbers at the end lol. Get yourself a pair of car ramps, much safer and only around £50! Looking forward to the video on what you need to do to set up as a trader. I have flipped 2 cars from home but would like to do it on a bigger scale and use bca and other auction sites but i need to be a trader.
I owned a very similar XF to yours until recently - a 2010 3.0 V6 petrol - loved mine and was quite sorry to see it go. Oil changes were a pain - I used to put it on axle stands on the chassis rails near to the jacking points - I would take the whole undertray off but not the one under the front bumper - always greased the undertray bolts when I put it back to avoid them rusting. The sump plug has a rubber washer that acts as a seal - it is recommended that you replace the plug every so often. Rear brakes are quite straightforward but I never had to do a calliper so well done on that - at that price it was the way to go. Yours looked a nice example but the problem with the 3.0 petrol engine is the £710 VED which will deter some buyers plus they are fairly thirsty cars although better on long runs. Personally I think 4k for the car is it a bit high, I found my old XF being advertised on Autotrader by a small dealer, he started at £3990 but quickly reduced it to £3490 and then it went within a week - perhaps cars sell for more in London?
Hi Shak , love the videos. I would recommend getting a couple of small car ramps for working underneath the car, relatively inexpensive (especially second hand) and much safer than leaving on jacks.
Another great video mate really enjoying them. Love the attitude of just learning by doing Headlight restoration is a solid process only sand if needed but for longevity you need to clear coat them after or they will yellow again within not time at all. As you flipping them not an issue for you but if you wanted to do it fully and properly you need a clear coat 👍👍👍
Get some autobrite pink sheen , interior cleaner, leaves plastics/dashboard with a really nice clean finish, scented too. It's the best cleaner/dressing I've used
Shaks another great video 👍 loved it.crazy driving all that way but thats the risk of the game i guess they are much cheaper up there then down were we are.nice profit for not much work cant wait for the next one 👍
Get yourself 2 mini wheel ramps. That way you can drive your front or back wheels onto them and carry out an OIL CHANGE or under engine work safely. And also, do rear exhaust works too. The Ramps are Cheap and available on Gum Tree or ebay.
Mate be careful! One of my best purchases was a set of (metal) ramps it’s 2 for 30 quid so buy 4 on BF deals and put them in front of each wheel then just drive up this way car is in the air a few feet but safe and level, nothing can happen at all! Well done again on this one, channel is shaping up nicely!
Also if you buy ones that are too high to get under both axels same time then reverse up on rears, then jack the front up then put them under, or wack a spare wheel under each front wheel instead of buying 4. If this makes sense😂
New sub here, well made video VERY informative. Bought one of these couple of months ago, diesel 3.0. All versions are to be had for shed money and many clean examples about. PS Great plate!
Always always always choke your wheels. And never rely on Jack to keep the vehicle up while you are under it. Use jack stands with safety pins. It's better to be safe than sorry. Do not cut corners with your safety.
Love this video's, but this type of oil drain plugs has a rubber O-ring on it and usually you also put on a new drain plug and sometimes you can put a new O-ring on it. Vauxhall for exempla uses this same type of drain plug.
@@ShaksAutos 100% can any compound, a US channel called Headlight Restore uses a PolyCarb ( Plastic ); compound for headlights but agree. Anything works. He uses 2/3 grades then a 3M 3000 trizact pad then the compound
I'm sorry to put a dent in your repairs to this jaquar but did you pay any attention to torque specifications when you reassembled everything even down to my pet hate of not torquing wheel nuts correctly.
Get yourself some blocks of wood jack the car up and put the blocks of wood under the tyres much safer than leaving the car on the jack, remember to chock the back wheels, that's what I do.
If you use a trolly jack to work under car at least put a full size spare wheel under with you. Gives you survival space should the worst happen. Obvs I don’t recommend using trolly jacks for working under but it’s your choice. Ps that’s a heck of a car for the money paid, as soon as I saw it’s on Uniroyal tyres it’s a great sign the previous owner wasn’t scared to spend money.
Wrong! Scotland is A Country alone and only if put together with Wales and England then it’s called the UK, home nation of 3 different countries. 🤓 and Northern Ireland ofc!
@@ShaksAutosCheers Shak. I'd already given 👍 for the vid & commentary but that you're having to give geography lessons too. 😂 I'm glad to see you hit it lucky at Glasgow BCA again! £700 on a transporter?! Is that the going rate per car?! Mmm! Got me thinking. 😉
Great work all round. I wouldn't have chanced a smoky engine. What did you think it would be? I buy from CCA, which is near that BCA. A lot of English and Irish traders come up to it.
I think never do it again its not safe and it can crush your head or badly damage it. I think there should be a mount like in garages, a high mount so you can work safely from under the car. Please consider it as its your long term job
@@techtactics788 Hi, I mentioned before as well. The smoke was likely due steam condensation and they just put smoke for the sake of it. The car went through MOT with legal emission coming from the exhaust.
Looks like they saw steam and condensation from exhaust and stated engine smoking to cover their back. The car has zero smoke apart from the engine condensation due to cold weather.
Brilliant video Shaaak and fair play to you for having a go and fixing things yourself when you've never done it before 👍
Love your video formats. I love that you show the realness of car flipping including all the work in detail ❤

Buy metal ramps, that way is safer. But would recommend u have someone there to make sure they dont move while driving on them...
purchase basic car ramps. That should provide enough height safely.
I don’t really trust these rubber Ramps. I’ve heard horror stories on forums.
Well done! But honestly I would of hired a space in a garage with a ramp and made life much safer and easier when working on the car
I’m planning to get my own workshop soon 🙏🏼
Put spare tyre underneath any time working under a car at home.

Hello hello from Glasgow

How do you deal with warranty issues?
I don’t. The warranty company does.
Hi mate hope your well just wanted to ask do you run your business from home if so how much cars do you havr available at each time😊
Yes from home and around 6 at a time
@ShaksAutos is your drive big enough for 6 or do you park some on the road??
I have space for 4 and keep the other two at my other place. But will have to get a yard soon 🙏🏼
What is the mix you put to shine the tyres please?
Great video BTW
It’s just called tyre shine and I buy it ready mixed on eBay. It’s called Atlas detergents tyre shine.
@ShaksAutos I do shine my tyres with 10w30 oil lol

Mate, the rubber washer on the sump plug IS the washer. It’s the same on these as SAAB.
You do not put a copper washer the other side of the rubber!!!

My long term would be a unit and a proper ramp. For now, I try to be as safe as possible.
Your videos are interesting and all but feels like bare minimum checks are done on cars you buy and resell. Not cool
