"All cars look the same, manufacturers need to do something different " Toyota is like "fine I'll do something different " people are complaining it doesn't look mainstream enough.
please continue to put the specs in the description!!!
I second this please
agreed!!
Well, he finally did.
If you want spec in words Google it. This is RUclips! It’s about video and audio
Like redline review does
It looks like nothing else out there. To me, that's a good thing. I love the way the crown looks with monopaint. I just took delivery of my limited Crown, and I averaged 47.5 MPG on my first tank. The ride is extremely smooth and and so quiet inside. It has exceeded my expectations. Go test drive one and see yourself.
At least until the new Hyundai sonata comes out lol
We are very happy with our crown great fuel economy. Easy to enter and exit. 👍👍
@@UnrelatedNonsenseyeah but do you wanna sacrifice reliability for a bit of a better ride? Not me
I just order one Limited with out tech package, I can’t wait for late December.
@@DarynBrownwhat makes you say a Sonata is a “little bit of a better ride”, Hyundai designs are horrible.
The brown interior makes such a positive improvement over the monochromatic interior. And all red looks way better than the blah black dual tone.
You have a point about the cruise control stalk. Toyota’s classic stalk was and is the best setup for CC ever implemented. It debuted all the way back in 1989 on the original LS400 and stuck around this long for good reason.
I think they ditched it to make their cars more conventional and easy to switch to. Most competitors, like Honda and Hyundai and GM, use steering wheel controls. I like Hyundai's controls and even though other brands have a slightly weird layout, it's still easier for me to switch compared to a stalk.
@@faeinthebay- I assume they ditched it because it was becoming harder to incorporate radar cruise features with it. Whatever the reason, with it gone now, the steering wheel is a mess of buttons and using the system is more cumbersome. The old stalk was so easy that Ray Charles could figure out how to use it.
That's is not when or where Toyota starting using that style of a cruise control stalk.. the '88 Soarer has the same style so it was probabaly sometime mid 80s
@@bpearr8266 - What are you talking about. That stalk looks nothing like the one mentioned. Furthermore, the US never got the Soarer in ‘88, so even if you were correct, it’s irrelevant. Try keeping up.
@@drivedb7 it’s the same style stalk was my point.. and why’s it matter if the us didn’t get the soarer? It’s still a toyota and it’s before 89 so I’m making a point
I really like this car. It’s different than most. I do wish it had a lift back though
I really like that Toyota does really unique cars for smaller customer bases. I also bet this car would be reliable and wonderful to own for a long time. That said I hate the styling, the Avalon was much nicer
It's coming...
Exactly if it had the lift back it would be perfect
I onwed a red Crown Platinum (likely within the first ten sold in Colorado) and I LOVED that car. Drove it to SFO and back, then I got t-boned at an intersection where someone failed to yield to me. Really sad to lose that car. It did protect me very well. Such a smooth driving car and so comfortable.
What you replace it with?
@@jonboll2066 gen4 Tundra
My current 2015 4runner has the same cruise set up that my 94 SC 400 had back in the day. It's a perfect design. So easy to engage, and even easier to disengage for obvious reasons.
One thing about Toyota, although they make great cars, they surely know how to make a cheap looking steering wheel
Amazing video topher i like how chill you are, keep going!
I’ve been driving mine for almost two months and I love it. I get constant questions and compliments about the looks, people really do like it. There’s more room inside than in my Camry and I get between 40 and 56 MPG on the freeway.
The only complaints that I have are that there’s a bit of wind noise by the top of the driver’s door at about 65 and the wireless charger makes my phone get really hot, which is bad for the battery.
Your videos are so straight to point I love it 😊
Toyota using physical controls like this is a big reason why I like them so much. I even like the old hi-fi stereo system style LCD display for the climate control.
If lifting sedans is what we gotta do to keep them around, I’m for it! Lifted sedan>compact CUV
idk why people hate on that car, i love how it looks. Imagine a wide body kit on that bad boy
I agree. I think it looks quite nice 😊
the wald and kuhl kits make the car look like a proper sedan again and pretty aggressive too
I can’t imagine Toyota selling too many of these.
people hate it because it's not a proper sedan but a crossover with sedan body not being the "true crown" as a sedan. but i'm agree with you the car is nice my only dislike is the way they use two tone straight from the hood to the rear, a simple black top will be nice touch with bronze color
Imagine that plus the 5.0L N/A Lexus V8 and the new GR corolla suspension
I like this car rented one for a week. Got 40mpg. Only downside for me is the center console is too wide and steering wheel didnt have enough rage upwards for me to find comfortable driving position due to foot placement. It has decent power and drove nicely on highway.
Great review. I really appreciate your no nonsense review that really ticks all the boxes for driving impressions and usability. I'm considering the new Crown Signia SUV... which shares a lot of the underpinnings/interior components.
正直にこの人の動画で一番好きなのはめっちゃ画質がきれいなこと笑
The Crown sedan looks so good. The fact that it's not available in the US is a tragedy.
We used to the have the crown before but Toyota decided not to sell it in the us anymore for some reason. So Toyota decided to sell it in Japan and other countries if I’m not mistaken for couple of decades. Last model of the crown looks badass in Japan but the fact the change everything on the crown looks completely different. When I heard that Toyota is bring the crown to the us is mind blown because I thought it was Japan exclusive only but i like it.
More that we didn't get the Sport model. That looks like a Supra wagon.
I actually bought one of these a few weeks ago. It’s all gray. But same trim. It’s super different from what I’m used too! 🥰
How has it been since you purchased it? Things you like and don’t like?
Excellent review Thank you.
That wrap-wound plastic containing the passenger thigh/leg area bugs the heck out of me. Why didn't they leave that open?
toyota really takes into account of the emerging markets in the us; great work as usual
Man, the only positive thing this man said about the car is that its quiet.
This new Crown is gorgeous. I've seen two on the road so far since October, and I got to say they look even better in person. The proportions are kind of funky at first, but when you actually see the car in person, everything just works so well. So many curves. This car is head and shoulders better than the hideous previous gen Avalon. With that being said, I do really wish there was a V6 option.
It's the only Toyota anything that I have ever liked, they are awesome looking cars. Mine is gray and black, it gets so many compliments.
You mentioned the JBL system being just okay, and that makes sense. I was really disappointed that they gave it an 800-watt system (like the Corolla, Prius, RAV4, etc.) instead of a 1200-watt system (like the Venza, Highlander, Tundra, etc.). I absolutely love the JBL system in my 2023 Venza and really expected a similar, or better, system in their new flagship sedan. It blows my husband’s ‘23 RAV4’s JBL out of the freakin’ water.
It’s a nice hybrid!
How does it compare to Lexus es300h? Comfort and noise level at highway speeds?
Topher uploads on a Friday is the icing on the cake
Fr
Looks are subjective, but I think it looks much better than the Camry hybrid.
The cabin sounds pretty noise but why you says it's quiet?
TheTopher makes the best videos ever :)
I am really curious as to how the Camry redesign will be since it is going to be hybrid only. I hope it offers a similarly nice interior with an updated exterior...
It seems you have to alight you front tires, the steering wheel tends to be tilted to the left
Do you know which version of Toyota hybrid system this is? Is it gen 4 or gen 5? The just-announced Signia uses gen 4, so I assume this does too. The *real* question is, *why* is Toyota using a previous generation hybrid system?
How do they be test driving these cars
What's the difference between the limited and XLE?
It’s seems like a great vehicle, but I’m not sure who they are intending this for. Thanks for taking us along for the drive.
Elderly people that don’t want an SUV but also don’t want a sedan so low to the ground. Notice the crown is lifted than most sedans.
@@4244john Makes perfect sense. Still a very narrow demographic. I actually think it’s a great vehicle. I just don’t think it will be very successful.
Lot of dashboard glare from such an expensive car. Surely they could've done something to mitigate that?
The wheelsize is definitely form over function. Can you spec those down?
The XLE has slightly smaller wheels.
The 2024 Crowns actually have what is called a “Gas cleaner” for flatulence when people pass gas which I found amazing
what kind of case is that on your phone?
How is NVH compared to the rx350h?
If you ever do a volvo xc90 t8 recharge u need to see if it fits in a garage
Chris, If your exercise in self restraint yielded 40 mpg, I am confident I could easily get 50 with this car.😉I really hope Toyota has not subverted the future of the Crown line in our market by reintroducing the name with such an 'unusual' model. The Crown sedan, CUV and especially the Estate were such fine looking and /or practical cars it will be a pity if we can't get them. Once the Camry offers Hybrid AWD, this Crown will be an even tougher sell. As every Crown is AWD, it would have made sense to offer a Trail mode with RWD bias like RAV4s etc.
does this read speed signs and limit acceleration?
i dont understand the wheel cladding craze.. it makes sense on a v60 cross country, but not on japanese sedans.
The doors do not automatically lock when driving away or taking the transmission out of Park?
either way by setting
Pretty pleased with the car overall, though I think it’s kind of insane a 50k car has a manual lift gate.
Lol, it's called a trunk lid.
I think the two tone interior looks better than the full black one.
I find it odd that you can't get two tone interior in the highest Platinum grade.
That was a dealbreaker for me. I looked at a Platinum crown, but it had the hideous all black interior. This two tone interior is 1000 times better.
Will you be making a video on the Chevy trax
Top trim Crown doesn't have a power trunk?!
Nice car
Looks pretty nice, not sure if it should be over $50K though.
Why am I mad that Toyota discontinued the Avalon and replaced it with a gorgeous car???
Needs turn signal/blind spot camera
Is it more quiet than es300h
Perfect video.
To be fair, this has been the only version of the new Crown available anywhere. Even in Japan, the next generation Crown “true sedan” and SUV are not yet available. They can only get this one, which in the JDM is called “Crown Crossover.”
I got my xle for 40k, including everything. Loving it ❤
I think this car looks amazing, and tbh one of the best looking coupes out there, I just can't digest to call it a sedan and really sad that Avalon is gone. They should've kept the Avalon and introduced this as a loges coupe. cause that sedan looked amazing, tesla did the same with their model X and that looks really bad for a sedan I think. Cause now we only have corolla and Camry as proper sedans in Toyota lineup. Hopefully it gets back like the Venza did.
I saw that they may bring out a wagon version of the crown and it looks awesome
@@Brian_Eugene_Lee 🤞🤞🤞🤞
they did
They did.
Shame we dont get this in Norway.. :(
I heard most people say this is good for old people, so if you have problems with your body I guess this is a good purchase then.
Such a beauty 😍
My dad would love this lol. He really likes the high seating vehicles. They should of made this a hatch or sport back for it to really make sense.
At 70 years old that is the reason I test drove it...the raised seat height. Makes a big difference to slide in vs "drop in". I really liked it.
For 50k, there are about a dozen other cars i would buy first, a 3 series or A4 come to mind first….toyotas are best when you get them cheap
If you like to great friends with the BMW/Audi service department then go ahead and buy a German luxury vehicle. Endless wallet drainers.
@@fcnghkkc1 i can't speak on audi, but i've owned 3 bmw's over the last 10 years and they've all been very reliable with minimal to no problems.
@@fcnghkkc1 all the newer BMWs nowadays are pretty good for reliability, can't speak for Audi though. Though no one is going to cross shop a Crown and a 3 series/A4.
I wanted luxury and reliability therefore I bought this car, I’ve owned Mercedes and they will definitely empty your pocketbook, I love my purchase
Can believe they cancelled the Avalon for this. No way would I chosen this.
i cant decide between this and the sonata thats coming out
I use adaptive cruise control on my cx-5 on every road I turn into. There is no way I would find the cruise control stalk easy to use. It has to be buttons like Toyota is doing.
I'm waiting for the station wagon.
You're amazing bro 😍
Could you please review the 2025 Toyota Camry XSE like this as soon as you get the chance.
I love the way the outside looks
You love boring, they gave you boring. 👍
@@worldhello1234 It's not boring at all, it is awesome, especially in the two-tone black and gray.
20:21....now thats how it should really sound ....perfect.
I think it looks good?
We really should have received the Crown Estate in the US. I’d have bought that in a heart beat.
We will soon!!!
The Estate has not yet gone into production. Many of us hope it comes to our market.
Personally I’m obsessed
This car in black would be amazing
I purchased the black, it’s beautiful!
I was hoping the Crown sedan would have a lot of ground clearance. 7" or so. But it doesn't. It has 5.8" while the Camry has 5.7".
that's the most japanese sounding startup chime I've ever heard
at least you can survive a drive thru a plymouth hood in a car like this
50K for
hey Topher...what's the best highway car u have driven
Can this car even drive 7 hours and over ?
Still find it weird to have this called a crown. Loved the classic boxy sedan the crown ever was (Hong Kong red Taxis), absolutely spacious and comfortable given their age.
On a side note, how could the FC is lower on highway than city?
Toyota hybrids typically get better city MPG.
weird looking car trying to looks like an suv or vice versa. i have owned since new a 2019 rav5 limited hybrid. why would i want a crown over a rav4? same powertrain.
I'm surprised by the noise levels, there seems to be a lot of noise coming from everywhere - tire roll, wind at speed and the engine drone even during a pretty moderate acceleration. I expected better for the price but hey, it's a Toyota.
Nice
I know they're not in direct competition but I think it looks better than the new Accord or half the current BMW product line at this point.
The rear looks pieced together.
The look is kinda goofy ...but I like it. The interior is what I love about it....and big wheels ..oh yes.
The shape reminds me of the previous generation Honda Civic which is ok ...
The design inspired by Citroen C5X
i know what they're doing here, its for older folks who liked the Avalon but that car's sales were too bad so they lifted it to try and get that very narrow market of people who don't want a full SUV but still want higher ride height.
They should have used this kind of interior for the new Camry
I like it. Without the two tone.
The two-tone is tons better looking.
Wished we got the wagon
They have not started building the wagon. Don't give up hoping.
11:12 Camry comparison
The only issue with this car is the pricing. I got my ES300h for around the same price as this.
It depends on what you're looking for. ES300h have 2 electric motors, this have 3, hence this car have more hp and torque than the ES300h and gets to 0-60 in 7.6s instead of 8.1s on the ES300h. Also ES300h is only FWD, this is AWD and sits a little higher. The Crown Limited also got some features such as the heated rear seats that is not available in the ES.
I love my new Crown, wouldn't even consider the ES.
I'm definitely a car guy over crossovers and SUV's, but I'm pretty meh on this one.
Meh is one of the nicest things I have heard said about it.
Made in Japan? Music to my ears.
