    I met Angela Lansbury when I was flying to London several years before she passed. She looked great and was so endearing and kind. I felt at the time that she must have had some facial plastic surgery as she looked very fresh for her age (90’s). She lived quite a life and was so accomplished as a performer (a Sondheim favorite). She might not have received an Emmy but was a favorite of millions of women who watched Murder She Wrote religiously (I have the whole DVD set!) especially my mother! Now that I am a senior citizen, I relate to that! I saw her in State of the Union with Spencer Tracey on TCM. She was lovely and fit the old Hollywood styling! Thanks for this lovely bio of her. She is missed but remains with us through film and TV/streaming!

    • @junewilson1629
      @junewilson1629 9 месяцев назад +5

      And that couldn't have been too easy. Not only that, she didn't know for sure whether this strategy / move (literally move) would even work. She hoped it would. So it was very risky, but at any rate, what did she have to loose at that point? Her children. And the move could only help. So hats off to a very difficult decision into the unknown.

      It shows what she was made of! My friend told me that she tried to give work on Murder She Wrote to out-of-work actors who had aged out of roles to contribute to their retirement fund. Her suffering and her health difficulties are private matters she chose not to disclose; after all, we all have things we choose not to speak about. It's really no one's business but gossip mongers always search for details. Often their so called details were wrong. I read another interview where she stated that when "Murder She Wrote" was being filmed, she learned that several of the old timers were in trouble of losing their SAG status due to not working recently - Angela gave parts to these people Mickey Rooney, Jerry Orbach (to name a few) on her show so they could keep their status as a working actor! I never knew that until after her death! Impressed the heck out of me! What a kind and gracious lady!

      She also gave roles to other actors she had worked with previously: Len Cariou (b4 "Blue Bloods") with whom she starred in the original "Sweeney Todd" on Broadway; also Hurd (sp?) Hatfield from the film "A Picture of Dorian Gray" in which he starred and in which she had a role in her early days. I noticed these and some other "old timers" in "Murder, She Wrote" and thought it was very kind and loyal of her to do this.

    I knew Angela Lansbury died of natural causes anything these days it can be caused by the effects of old age on the body including the fact that she had rheumatoid arthritis which can cause problems with the heart and breathing problems as well so as far as that goes maybe she was just blessed to go in her sleep which is something I think we all wish we could have. So no, no surprises as far as what you said, and it wasn't a surprised that she died quietly with her family around her in her sleep, there comes a point when you get to a certain when you get to a certain age and you have certain health issues that are not apparent to the eye and don't need to be known by the public, when you get to that age you don't really need for them to know that your health has been slowly deteriorating and is just a matter of time before you die so you plan it out you consider how you want to go and can you go quietly with your family around you maybe you've played chess that day or you've reminisced over other times there's so many things you can have done during that the days leading up to the time you go, and trust me if you had some of her health issues you would know when that time was, having your family around so that when the time comes and you go off to sleep and you might not wake up they're their and they're with you and there is no longer any need for any fanfare you don't need it. I could tell Angela Lansbury was on her way out by a certain Christmas movie that she did, if you know how to look at people and you know enough about certain medical things let's call it that, then you know a last hurrah when you see it. In many ways I'm glad that she's no longer among the Living because I have no doubt that they will try to recast and make a renewed version of murder she wrote, and it is so unnecessary. But that's Hollywood for you they have no imagination anymore when was the last time they read a book. I'm glad she got the chance to see the whole family around her and in a good place.

    I'm puzzled by the frequent shots of Ingrid Bergman in this presentation. Yes, she and Angela both featured in 'Gaslight,' but the presentation is an expose of Angela's life, surely? Suggestion: Edit Ingrid out of it, and do full justice to Angela (as Gaslight's 'saucy maid').

    What was "Uncovered" here? Lots of pics of Ingrid Bergman! LOLOL Everyone faces troubles in their lives, we don't need to know about them. I loved her in Murder, She Wrote and as entertainment goes, that's all I need to know. Died secretly? If dying of old age at 96 is a secret, may we all be blessed to have that secret. And, what exactly did we think all along that her children supposedly confirm? I'm so confused by this mish-mash of information on this one and I certainly didn't need the intense family history lesson. Wow.

    There are pictures of Ingrid Bergman on some of the clips, not Angela. Woah! Thais a big mistake cause you must not research your stories very well. Angela Lansbury and Ingrid Bergman were both beautiful, but you have to get your people straight. Ingrid was in Casa Blanca-a very, VERY popular movie. Very disappointed to see this kind of mistake on a channel that is bio specific. Not going to like or subscribe.

Sigh...

    Isn’t funny how different peoples lives go? Angela Lansbury being born in, what was it…October 1925 and my mother, Dorothy Beaufford, born on November 23rd, 1925 to the children of humble French immigrants who came to America in the 1870’s, to Texas…Dallas County…Irving, Texas. Humble beginnings, humble lives. My mother died from lung cancer on September 18th, 1984. and I have missed her every day since…and Angela Lansbury dying just 2 years ago but they were so close in age being born a continent away. I miss you, Mother…you were the perfect mother…I love you. Save me a seat.
