Where I live, when trees are planted like that, it’s called a windbreak. And they are usually a type of poplar tree. They are planted to stop high winds from blowing over fields. So happy you rescued the baby deer. You made my Friday afternoon.
Hi Amy and Wes. Shame about the deer. Glad you were able to get it out of the canal and gave it the best chance. Wow a visit to IKEA. You did really well to visit and not spend over £100 pounds on things you didn’t go for 🤣Take care. Nick
Those trees are poplars - conifers are usually evergreen. I can’t believe how summery you both looked in your pale coloured converse - and a pretty yellow dress … it must have been that one day of spring we had!!
Good filming and music. Hearing the baby deer scream was hard, I don’t even want to imagine how it was for you to be listening to it. But you and The Bears did a nice thing. Loved your visit to IKEA. I have never been to one. Do they have Vegan hot dogs? Love seeing Rufus running free up and down the towpath. Fun vlog! 😊🤗 Kathy
I was so excited to see you were in Stoke Hammond and then onto Milton Keynes where I used to live and walked long the 11 miles of the towpath often . Fenny Stratford is the beginning of MK .My office was in Bletchley ! and I lived further north in MK in Stantonbury near Linford Wood. There are so many neat Pubs along the Canal. Hope you got to visit some. Thanks for taking me back to my home away from home for a bit . Actually Bletchley, Stony Stratford and Wolverton and Newport Pagnell were the four towns incorporated into MK and about 20 villages . The canal was purposely included in the plans for the development of MK. All developed before you were born ! Milton Keynes is so unique and has so many parks and walks and bike paths. It is less then 60 years old ! Did you get to see the Museum at Bletchley Park ?
Wow summery clothes out, lovely vlog, thank you for being so kind to all animals, I love you both for that. I hope the deer survives, but you did the best. Take care. X
4:00 ok - This time we will address you at Crick. Maybe you will remember "Bini and Friday from Germany". I would like to invite you for a drink / beer. We will be there the hole weekend on our boat "Penkenna". Bini and Friday from Germany
These tall narrow trees are poplars and I would avoid mooring under them - they're quite brittle because they grow fast. Another reason to avoid them in spring is the huge amount of fluffy mess that falls off them when they bloom.
I think the big tall trees you liked are lombardy poplars. Love that yellow dress on you Amy. Well done for saving the fawn (baby deer) hopefully the leg wasn't broken and will make a full recovery xx
Omg the baby deer drama! So good that you were able to rescue it. Dead animals in the canal is literally the number 1 worst thing about boatlife 😭 We went to that ikea so many times when we moored at Fenny Stratford, that shopping area is so hostile to pedestrians! Why must we frolic through the bushes??
Totally agree! It’s so sad 😔 Hahaha oh we’re so glad it’s not just us. We just trudged along the dual carriageways until we could merge through the bushes 😂
Amy you looked lovely and bright like summer. Well Done Both & the kids. I have received the Crick boat show tickets, Excitement has started. On count down😊😊XXxx
I think we should campaign that Rufus gets ANOTHER new bed. That one just doesn't cut the mustard guys. It looks uncomfortable, cold (plastic) but will become sticky in the hot weather and it looks thin, not comfy. "WE STAND WITH RUFUS". ❤❤❤❤ X XXX
Awww so proud of you for freeing the little deer i do hope its ok so kind of you all grand vlog and yes the trees are poplar tc now luv from the oldies 🤗🤗🌟🌟🌟🌟😊😊
Well done on the deer. We have had a pair recently by us. One either side of the cut, was so sad hearing it call its mate. It did jump in, and they couldn't get out. Neighbours managed to save it .Phew... Hopefully, they found each other ❤
I've only been watching your videos these past few months I think I've nearly seen them all I think I've found one of my favourites you two are so entertaining I really like all your adventures all your DIY and Rufus n Doops xxx😊❤❤
As always, a great video. We'll done for rescuing the deer. Kev here: we were laughing so much when Amy came out of the pub/restaurant and Wes was outside. I suffer from anxiety and Jane has ADHD so you might guess why we relate! Jane always scouts out a place for me too. We are loving your channel. Found it in December 2023 and binge watched ever since. We love sharing your ups and downs and we wish you health and happiness going forth. Jane and Kev and Kiki Dog❤
Hi Amy and Wes I hope you enjoyed your lunch at Birmingham with all the other vlogers as I saw you both having a good time from the cafe boat channel stay safe and happy and safe boating cheers Barry from Victoria Australia 🇦🇺
Oh bless that poor baby deer! What a shame the rescue places wouldn’t help it 😢. I’m so glad you guys found him & got him out of the water & back with his Mum
How strange that you talk about running back to the boat for the torch earlier (well done by the way ❤) my husband and I was talking about you guys earlier. I introduced him to his first pair of Crocs at nearly 39 years old and I was explaining charms that you can have on them, had a general Google to show him and torch ones came up, torches you put onto your crocs, such a good idea for towpaths
No wonder you couldn’t sleep it sounded more like a blast furnace🥴my boots gave out after 10 years!soggy socks, new ones this week .The Poplar trees used for making brake blocks for steam engines so should be fairly safe 😂and l put 4 cans together on my tiller pin for holding drinks 😊
The crt are very good at dealing with problems,I wish the same could be said about the environment agency in regards to the great Ouse,Denver sluice and salters lode lock are totally unpassable with all the mud and silt,it’s crrrrrrrrrrrrazy
with deer you almost always just leave them alone they get stressed and die easily with human contact. The old wildlife SOS show taught me that - repeatedly
@@BoatTime 100% get him out, it’s just the after bit you just leave them be. To be fair you should probably look up that old show online it will help you know what to do with a random swan or hedgehog etc
I've been watching the "BOX " To see you ....... But no ....... Am waiting patiently for your contribution of canal life.....😊 ,(Narrow Boat Escapes). .... But suppose they're leaving the best to the Last 😊.
Oh no!!! The poor baby Deer, as a fellow Vegan I know how streesful that experience was for you. I couldn't stand to hear it crying, so well done lads for your care. Gosh you just don't know what's round the corner. Rubbish left NO!!! Great to see inside Ikea My nearest is over 3 hours away. I know how Wes feels cause my x hated aswell, think it's a Gal thing. Hugs for the Bairns E x

Great job with baby dear guys. Beautiful area where you are.
You two are so funny great vlog.
I have been in that IKEA once that was enough lol..
So looking forward to Crick and meeting you guys 🎉

What an experience with the deer! Well done for getting it out and reunited with its mother - hopefully it will be OK. Be careful, be happy xx
Good you rescued the baby deer, hopefully it was united with its mum.
Rufus is a loon, 😂a lovely lune.💚

Didn't expect the sequel to fish with a stick to be baby Chinese water deer with bare hands!
😂😂😂 that’s excellent! Neither did we 😂
Oh well done for saving the 🦌 and chucking someone else's rubbish! You two are so wonderful 🥰🥰🥰🥰
I saw a dead baby deer in the canal last weekend. 😞 Well done for rescuing this one!
Oh no! 😔 poor lil things. So glad we managed to help this one, thank you!! 💕
You are a truly wonderful kind hearted couple to help rescue the deer 👍🦌
Thanks Mr C! It was touch and go but so glad we managed to help 💕

The trees look like poplars 🙂🌳
Ooh thank you!
I'm not surprised Rufus doesn't like his new mat! It doesn't look very comfortable, even though it's easy clean.
it’s quite padded and much better than his previous one that had no padding left haha!

I miss Amy on Twitch. Cheers kids from the States
Polar tree not conifer Amy 😄😄😄
You two are so thoughtful in many ways ❤
Can i ask what brand your washing machine is and would you recommend? TY
The whole of MK has redways for cycling and pedestrians. Its amazing.
It’s super cycle and pedestrian friendly! 😊
Oh no, does watching this mean I've had my first ever visit to and IKEA store? You're on a lovely bit of the Grand Union, enjoy the journey.
Haha! Possibly! Although your legs get a lot more tired when you’re there in person 😅 thank you we’re loving it!
Hi, love watching you guys. Could you tell me what make your washing machine is please? Thanks

Apparently a lot of deer in UK have TB, farms have been finding cows have got it from the deer so good that your quarantined after your excitement.
😄 so excited you are coming to Crick . I promise that this year I will be calm and not gush. It will be so nice to meet you both again
Haha yaaay! we’re very excited ☺️
Hope you've taken a trip to certain historical sites on the other side of the railroad station.
Perfect timing, I just finished watching your backlog this very morning! I am ready for more wonderful smiles and chips!
Woah no way! Thank you! 🥰💕

Love you guys
Thank you ☺️
Those dandelions are good for humans as well. I have dandelion tea. Xx
We’ve never tried it! But we’ve tried dandelion honey
The trees are popular and prone to snapping in gales !
😬😬 noted!
Nice one saving the deer! All the best
Thanks 👍☺️
In Michigan we call them Lumbar Poplar
🥰🥰🥰
🥰🥰🥰
Those trees look like Lombardi Poplars
Ah nice thanks! ☺️
Love you guys but come on whats with the blue canals on the thumbnail? As a continuous cruiser I have yet to see a canal that's anything like blue.

Popular trees
They certainly are with that many around! 😁
Boot repair - bit of old denim, and Evostic contact glue (yep the nasty solvent kind not the solvent free!) will fix the sole for a bit.
Ooh good to know thanks for the tip!
MK is very pedestrian friendly. The red ways are everywhere and you chose the least easy and safe route to IKEA.
that’s the way Google maps told us to go annoyingly!
What was that statue of, Couldn't make it out
no idea! 😖 looked like chicken wire and clay maybe
with deer you almost always just leave them alone they get stressed and die easily with human contact. The old wildlife SOS show taught me that - repeatedly
We knew this was a risk but it was drowning and wedged between the boat and the bank so we had to intervene.

Ooo yes we’re so excited/nervous to see it! 😅 hahah aw thank you! Fingers crossed 💕
Why, oh why don't the wild rabbits in our yard eat dandelions like Dupes does?!?
Just curious but what breed of dog is rufus?
we don’t actually know for sure! Some guesses are lab, lurcher whippet, podenco, maybe a mix of them all 😂🐶
