  • The HVAC Pros will hate this video too! I debunk some HVAC procedures that are commonly charged for. I hope this helps.

Great information! I chose and installed a Tosot after watching multiple install videos and reading the reviews. Looking at some of the other DIY mini splits I like the fact it can display the actual indoor temperature on the unit. The problem I found in my area was the cost most of the HVAC companies wanted to install a mini split system was just too high. During the install, bending the refrigerant tubes did make me a bit nervous.
So far I like the Tosot unit and it’s been a lifesaver with the hot summer. An install template would be helpful!

The unit has been cooling very well in 100 degrees. I am very impressed.

Thanks Tony for another yet informative video. Next year we will be replacing our central unit A/C with mini splits in the house. Take care and God bless you my friend.

Looks to be a very good job, it is amazing how some people only can look for fault and speak negative. And thanks for video that a poor boy can refer to this video and help him in his installations.

A lot of people who claim to be experts, aren't really experts. They just have a certain way of doing things and expect everyone else to do it exactly the way they did. People at my job will tell me "you're doing it wrong" and then try to make me adopt their methods. But as I've always said, "It doesn't matter how you do it, as long as you achieve the result". Excellent job, Tony! Thank you for sharing! 😎

I don't say this bragging, but I have never had one of these units fail doing it just as I did it. I agree with you whole heartedly.

Very good video showing all the important aspects of installing one of these. Tosot seems like a good brand since they are up front about being a division of Gree and offering a 5 year warranty with no exceptions. Only thing that I might do different is to crack open the king valve for a couple of seconds to put a little positive pressure on it before removing my gauges.

Excellent presentation. However, I would not buy any AC that uses R410. It is an obsolete refrigerant that will soon be as hard to get as R22. There will eventually be leaks and service will be expensive or not obtainable. It is being phased out in 2024. I consider this brand as one of the better mini splits on the market. I suspect there will be many "bargain" AC systems dumped on the market because of this phase out of R410. Not to say they are not good units, just that manufacturers must switch to the newer, approved refrigerants and selling off inventory is a must. If you can buy a good, sealed refrigerant system that you want to last and are willing to chance no or very expensive service, then go for it. Mini splits are very prone to leaking because there are joints that are not braised and are therefore going to loosen and leak over time. Good luck.

Appreciate the video,. Having lived in Asia for the last 5 years, I'm considering replacing my whole house HVAC in the states with each room of the house having a split unit.

They have some multi zone units, but the singles are much easier to install and provide redundance.

Wasssup Mr. T.. lol.. I've got a Pioneer 9k here in my RV. I had help from a friend who owned an AC Vacuum that was needed. It's been working perfect, efficient, super quiet. But I have a new EG4 12k Hybrid I'm switching to. It's virtually plug and play. Mount the head unit, mount the compressor, connect the line set on both ends. connect the power and communication wires, open the valves to charge the lines, plug in some panels with a 90v minimum and turn it on. It doesn't get easier than that.

I feel that they are the future. I just was quoted $40K to replace my heat and a/c units in my home & that was for a 2 ton upstairs and a 3.5 ton downstairs

That is crazy high. You can put in two system to meet your requirements so much cheaper if you are handy.

With all of that cardboard from the packaging, I can't believe that they couldn't provide a template for the mounting. It just seems so simple to print it on some of the packaging to make the installation a no brainer. How much weight have you lost? You look fantastic.

Thank you. In the grand scheme of things, the template was not a big deal, but it would have been nice. Thank you for the weight loss comment. 85 pounds down. 👍

Curious why you picked a TOSOT? I'm looking at mini splits for my house and I've not yet made any choices and just trying to get input from people that have installed them. Thanks, good informative video.

you should release gas while the vaccum is there... not after you unhook your gauges line. when you unhook vaccum is not there anymore. better lose some gas then losing vaccum!
