Reverse jointed, high energy build for constant booster usage, AoE lock on Missile launcher on the shoulder, dumbfire cannon on the other. It has been over a decade since I've played an AC game and I still remember my build.

The best AC missions are the ones where they go "We want you to protect our convoy" and then your own employer drops 4 ACs on your head and shit talks you about how stupid you were to come there

Honestly aside from the clunky menu navigation AC1 still holds up ridiculously well. It's insane how ahead of it's time it was.

@@brittig8983 Yeah, once people get over it not having analog support and get used to the shoulder buttons being used for panning up and down. I personally like that control scheme, but I'm a damn dinosaur who gave up RE because of tank controls not being a thing anymore. The first few ACs are my favorite, especially MoA, but new players may have a bit of a rough time adjusting to those. Worth it if they do though. Especially if you have a friend to 1v1. Also, MoA let's you make your own Arena with AI ACs and tweak their behavior. Kind of neat.
@@Gotz_the_iron_handagree . I've used that control scheme throught Gen 1 to Gen 3. Even tried configuring Gen 4 to use Type B controls but it did not work well.

@@hooliganfish most people I know were turned off by most mech games. Chrome hounds, mech warrior, steel battalion because they were too damn slow and they hadn't tried AC. I'm keeping reasonable expectations though. I know some missions will be long. Some will be short. I'm hoping there will still be parts to be found in the world. I forget the name but there was the energy rifle that kinda looked like the Gundam buster cannon. Was it buster cannon 🤔

I remember games like Okami or Naruto 5 on the ps2 being some of the most beautiful games ever on 32mB of Ram. From soft games were never the best technically but they sure are artistically. They dont have a lot of polygons, or texture resolution, but the effects and art are masterfully crafted for an amazing visual show to sell the epicness of your little weak character defeating gods (with sometimes the same w/l rate you would expect in real life)

Armored core games are all about customizing your mech. You can completely fine tune how it handles. Also after finishing the campaign and starting a new game+, expect unexpected twists from the missions you've played already =)

First timer for Armored Core here, but I have to say aerial combat looks totally amazing!!! Definitely will require a different set of skills and awareness. Looking forward to its release.
you should watch the vaati vidya video on it. he goes waaaayyyyy more into depth. and the quality of the gamplay visuals increase.

I hope the multiplayer stands up. What I loved about playing AC before was making multiple Mechs, and then fighting my friends like a mortal combat game, as we go through the roster of Mechs I created.
God I hope I can just slam a bunch of mini-guns on a Mech again.

I felt like a madman trying to explain armored core to my friends, I can't wait for them to experience it. I think much more people will be playing and I can't wait to see what builds I run into!
I played every Armored Core game there was, I made so many different ACs, Energy based, Hybrids etc. Some missions were confusing but the overall game never disappointed.
Man the changes to energy weapons for 6 are wild to me. It doesn't eat energy at all, running on an overheat system (for the weapon, not your AC) instead. That's gonna make flying beam spam a lot more sustainable. Heck, boost itself doesn't cost energy anymore, only quick boosts, ascending and assault boost.

Fromsoft has become such a reliable dev company. If its got that name on the box, its a good game. sometimes even game of the year.

I hate most modern games because unless you have a top tier graphics card and sometimes even if you had one, the game would run like absolute dogshit and when you finally get it to run it turns out to be a boring piece of crap because they cared more about graphics than the game itself. I love how FromSoft handles the graphical part of their games.

I hope they still do all the different legs types and stuff. I always loved the spider legs. Tank legs were cool to mess around with too if you wanted to be super heavy. Loved loading up huge shoulder weapons.

When I saw white glint in 4A, I went back and got all the others on at the time Xbox 360...and played em. I remember the OG AC in PS1 but I didn't ..well, I was young and didn't understand numbers lol. But, Ive been waiting for a new installment since 4A. That music, that intro clip, oooo goosebumps. Cant wait till it's out next month

armored core first came out in 1997. I started playing it back then. loads of fun.
1st armored core game made me a fan of gundam, mech games etc.
armored should be fire as fudge. I believe hidetaka worked on these back in the early 2000's before he too on demons souls. there are about 20 installments of this game if yall noobs didnt know. this game has been ahead of its time and hopefully they brought it to us with massive potential.

It's fun seeing new players reacting to that trailer. They usually think the trailer gameplay looks crazy fast and hectic, meanwhile anyone who's played 4 or 5 would probably be yawning and checking their watch during that slow AC fight.
It looks interesting but it's not really my thing, I'm just happy that it looks like a genuine game. We need more developers who put as much love and care into developing their games as FromSoftware!

I may give it a go, there havent been many mech games i have liked with only the Zone of the Enders series coming to mind (which i love).
Edit: i never gave armoured core a go before as i wasnt keen on the mech aesthetic in the past. I am now a fan of heavy industrial designs, although i still prefer mechs in the form of the orbital frames like Nephtis, Jehuty and Anubis in ZOE

Theres over a million different ways to customize your mech and make it truly unique to you. You can copy builds but be sure to make your own build, putting your actual heart and soul into your own build has a bigger impact.
There are actually 15 Armored Core games, not just five. Its what From used to be known for, before delving into and creating shit like Demon Souls and the rest of the Souls games.
Makes ya feel old....knowing AC has been around longer than most of these kids! The comparison to souls games are funny. I still remember finding the moonlight laser blade in the occupation mission on a ledge.😂 good times in first gen gaming
yes, but most of them are just "standalone expansions" and then a couple of spin offs for portable. I expect them to just make DLCs now instead.
@danilooliveira6580 that would kinda suck unless they actually create DLC that's half the size of the base campaign or more. Those stand-alone games were still whole games unlike our modern expansions. Game mechanics were even added or removed. They definitely weren't simple expansions. That 1 game for ps portable was trash. We don't count that one lol

Armored Core has always been a kick ass series. Played the first one on the original Playstation years ago.
That's why I don't understand people who can't tell from trailers for games, series and movies whether it's junk or not.
There has never been a trailer that was hated, but later turned out to be very good.
Now I have to differentiate to my friends which AC I’m talking about: Ace Combat, Armored Core, or Assassin’s Creed lol

My experience with either 4 or 5 (I don't remember which) was pretty bad. I remember being so hype to finally have an armored core game after spending way too many hours with the demo disk for the PS1 but the game was just such a grind to unlock bits for your mech youd have to like perfect a mission and use a certain build just to unlock the ability to buy a part with the ingame credits and then like youd need to grind those by farming another different mission and then you finally get it equipped but your motor isn't good enough so you need to do the same thing for the engine but now you're too heavy so you need to get better suspension and then and then and then

Sounds like Armored Core 5. That was the one where the formula was drastically changed and became more online multiplayer, iterative upgrades, grinding oriented. AC4 also reduced the complexity of building your mech before then. You have to go back to AC3 on the PS2 to find an entry that retained the classic formula that its fans loved.
@@savagej4y241 I actually felt 4 introduced a new kind of complexity with quick boosting and also different armor/weapon damage types. So it balances out. It's still complex, just in a different way.
And hasn't earning money to buy gear always been part of the Armored Core series? They allow us to sell parts back to the shop for the exact same price as we bought, so instead of trying to buy all the new parts in one go, we can always change it out bit-by-bit

I recommend Armored core 3, Silent Line Armored core, and Armored Core 4 Answers. They are the best introduction to the series.

Ive been a fan of AC since the original. Its been far too long since a new AC game. I guess you can say, I'm very excited. Happy to see FromSoft go back to its roots.
AC2 was one of my favorite games, i haven't played an entry since then but im stoked.
Me... still remembering playing Armored Core on my PS1, loved my OP lightsaber lol. Loved doing challenge missions, using just grenade launchers or just a lightsaber and shield lol.
I really wish they also make a new Chromehounds game, It was my favorite game, best mech game ever.

ive been waiting over 15years, finally. This will be the 21st game in the franchise if you don't count the re-makes. It was a super nice game for hardcore players. ACFA on the 360, and AC4, were my fav of the series, but this looks leagues ahead.
